The Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame Contest

Have you entered in the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame Contest yet? Yes, you know the battery with the Energizer Bunny, the pink one. Yep that's the one. Currently you can enter the contest by nominating someone you know that is just like the Energizer Bunny. Honestly I thought of a few people but one friend really stuck out to me, that friend is AskewToYou. This is one woman that is amazing.

You can nominate yourself or somone else. As nominator you must write
an essay of between 50 and 350 words describing yourself or another individual
who should be nominated (the “Nominee”) to the upcoming Energizer Keep Going®
Hall of Fame.

An interesting fact, the winner of 2006 actually lived out here in Missouri. His name is John O'Leary. The deadline to nominate yourself or someone you know is March 31st, so get those entries in.

Every day, people from all walks of life are compared to the Energizer Bunny®, from celebrities to athletes and politicians. But only once a year do Americans collectively identify that one individual who is so unstoppable and so civic-minded that he or she deserves entry into Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame.

The Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame was started in 2006 as a way to honor everyday people for the energy and perseverance they show in their daily lives, no matter what challenges they might face. Today, there are four members in the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame, and now through March 31, the search is on for the 2009 inductee. The winner will earn a $10,000 cash prize and a $5,000 donation to his or her favorite charity.

“Through the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame, Energizer is connecting a group of people who have a similar outlook on life,” Ripken said. “People who share a common approach and embody the characteristics of the Energizer Bunny: enthusiasm, perseverance and a positive approach to all that they do.”

Energizer is looking for candidates with a great story about how they have positively impacted others through strong leadership and perseverance. “Through their stories, we hope to inspire others to find the Keep Going® spirit in their own lives,” said Betsy Laakko, Director of Marketing for Energizer.

My CVS Trip

Yes, I went to CVS again today, they had a new ad and I had a ton of coupons about to expire. For those of you that have been buying the Beauty Magazines (CVS one) you can use them today with their BOGO deals on nail polishes. Our cheapest was the $2.49 but when you pair that with the $3 off you make money. Course with CVS you can't go below zero so you will have to make it to $0.00 or higher for it to work. We went a bit overboard but I've been wanting the new Glade plug ins. We bought that Tri Scent last time and it really works so I'm going to buy some smelly scented thing for each room.

$2.49 (each) Sally Hansen Nail polishes (bought 6) total: 7.47
BOGO (Limit 6)
$5.99 Glade S&S (limit 1)
$1.99 CVS Cotton balls
2/$3 M&Ms
$1.99 PAAS (limit 2) total: 3.98
$5.99 Glade lasting impressions (limit 1)
$1.25 2 liter pepsi
Total: $29.67

Coupon:
- $1/2 on M&M
- $9 ($3 off Sally Hansen Nail Polish from Beauty Mag)
- $4 Glade Sense & Spray
- $4 Glade plug in scented oil lasting impressions
- $1 off (CVS coupon from Beauty mag)
Coupon total: $19 in coupons (wow)

Complete total after coupons: $11.38 (with tax)
ECBs earned: $4.98 (2, one for $1 from Glade and $3.98 from PAAS)

I was asked what an ECB is. The basic idea is when you buy a certain item that CVS wants you to buy for that week you get Extra Care Bucks. These print out at the bottom of your receipt and you can use them next time. Kind of like fake money but you can use it in their store.

Ex: $5.99 Glade Lasting Impressions
$1.00 ECB
Total: $4.99 course you will pay the $5.99 to get it and on the
receipt will be the $1 ECB for next time.

By the way there is a $4.00 coupon on the glade in today's paper so really
you'll only pay $1.99 and get back that $1.00 ECB.

I realize I could've got this a bit cheaper if I had done two transactions but I was in a hurry to leave with the kids. We might be back later depending on the coupons we have at home. We'll be doing a coupon party with a neighbor later, I'll even write about it.

Spring Snow Storm hits Home

I swear they get some really strange weather out here in Missouri. I never would've dreamed of a snow storm hitting after the groundhog already appeared, but sure enough that is what happened this morning. Last night we got some really cold weather, this morning I awoke to the trees having ice hanging off them.

Course as you can see by the picture above it began to rain. But then it began to....

Hail, after that there were reports of sleet/ice and of course.....

Snow!

How's your weather? I think mine is kind of crazy, I mean just last week we were flying kites. Figures all plans are canceled now.

Wordless Wednesday: Outside Fun

What did we do this past weekend? That's easy, we enjoyed the sunshine outside. As you can see the two youngest drove around in a jeep and it seems Little A would rather talk on the CB or as he calls it, phone. BabyGirl loves the driving part of it, she loves to be in control....just as long as she doesnt' drive off the side.

The other two were riding bikes/scooters and wearing helmets. We got helmets to review and I'll link to that when it goes up on my other blog. Keep in mind helmets secure your child's head and they should never be without one when riding a bike.

Daddy was helping everyone fly kites, he even stated it is relaxing.

Happy WW!

CVS Shopping with Kids

Yesterday the kids and I tried out hands at CVS, they were really excited as they each got $1 to spend in the store. Most of us knows that when a child goes in they are more than likely to get a candy bar and leave, not mine.

SoccerBoy:
- Trident Gum .95
- Coupon: .75 off
- Total: .25

BalletGirl:
- Pack of 3 Stride Gum $2.99
- Easter Coloring book .99
- Coupon: $2 off
Total: $2.11
I did give her the extra $1.11 since it was a coloring book that was tossed in for her sister. I thought that was a sweet gesture.

BabyGirl:
- 2 White Chocolate easter bunnies (hollow) 2/$1
She wanted to give one to her sister.

Little A:
- 1 chocolate Easter Bunny .99
Total: $1.04

The kids were so excited and learned that using the little red card they got these deals, otherwise they would've cost more. They told me they want to go back with me next time so they could use more coupons. Think I'm starting them on the right path.

Leprechaun in Alabama

How many of you have heard about the "Leprechaun" that is residing in some tree in Mobile, Alabama? Do you believe it and why?

Labels:

The Leprechaun Boxes

Okay, yesterday I quickly mentioned the kids and I were making their St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun boxes. Here is a quick shot of what the looked like and they were all very proud of them.
The boxes were bought at deal, along with most of the other arts and crafts.

Inside the boxes was: a chocolate each, a coin and a pack of seeds. SoccerBoy got two mini models, by mini I'm meaning those skateboard things they can put together (finger size) and some erasers in a mini backpack, once again palm size. BalletGirl got suncatchers she gets to paint and two mini (size of a thumb) diaries. BabyGirl got the same as BalletGirl, they are way too close in age and the Leprechaun didn't want to get blamed. Little A got two cars and a mini backpack.

Currently the girls are doing their suncatchers, Little A is watching Barney and their older brother has decided to make lunch. Course after that I suspect he'll want me to play a game of Stratego. Yes, I'm really getting good at this game, but he can still beat me. Boo hoo me.

Happy St. Patty's Day ya'll!

Making Our Leprechaun Boxes

Currently we are in the process of making our famous Leprechaun boxes. For those that don't know, every year the night before St.Patrick's Day the kids and I make Leprechaun boxes. Why? Because there is an old saying that the leprechauns that come across an empty box must leave a token inside as a thank you to S. Patrick for taking the snakes out of Ireland. So each year they decorate their boxes and leave them outside to be found. To read more about our boxes you could read the guest post I did over at All Holiday Cafe. I'll post more in the morning.

Disney On Ice Only a few Weeks Away....

The kids are starting to count down the days before they get to watch the magical show "Disney on Ice" down in Kansas City. For those that may not know, Disney On Ice will be headed down to Kemper Arena on from April 1-5th. We'll actually be down there on the 3rd and will be blogging all about the events. I'm not 100% yet if I'll be able to live-blog the event but you can bet I'll be taking tons of notes. hehe

As of right now each child is talking about which part they are excited about. You know the girls are of course excited about the entire thing, but now they have one more thing to get excited about.... the package. Yes, we got a package in the mail for being part of the Disney on Ice blog tour and the kids got the following:

Princess Areil Cup (with lid)
Giant Coloring book
Giant Minnie Mouse Pen (with Minnie on the top)

By the way the pen I've totally laid claim on, but they can have fun with the others. They plan on taking the cup up to the actual Disney on Ice show and use it there. Granted I'm not sure if they'll be able to bring it in it is the thought.

Thanks again MomCentral and Disney on Ice.

Birthday Boy

Over the weekend we had a ton of fun celebrating our Little A's birthday. Yes, that's right, he turned 2 this weekend and I missed posting it. But I missed it because we were celebrating.

What did we do for the birthday boy? Well, we celebrated his birthday early so that daddy could be here. He had to go away for the military weekend, so we had cake and ice cream on Thursday and he opened his gifts too. The neat thing was when we sang to him and said blow out your candles he actually did it. This was without us showing him what to do, I guess he's seen enough of Barney to know. hehe

Take a peek at that birthday boy. Isn't he cute?

What did he get? A pull along telephone, tiny truck, tugboat for the bath and a mailbox with 3 letters and a package. He loves the mail and always helps me open the packages so I thought that last one was a definite winner. So far he LOVES it and I highly recommend it to anyone that has a young one that likes checking the mail. The fact they can slide their letters through the mailbox is another plus, okay instead of this post being a review I'll do that later. But he had a fun birthday and we all got to celebrate early.

The kids and I did end up ordering pizza on his actual birthday, I'll explain more in another post. Happy Birthday Little A!

Triaminic to the Rescue: Sick Here

There should be a sign outside the house that reads one of two different things: Beware Germs are Near or Stay Away if You have Bad Germs.

Yes, we came down with yet something else. We got all better and then the kids came back from school with .... the cough. I got to try out the Children's Triaminic Cold & Cough thin strips, thankfully we had these. Plus I was sent a link that Teaches one what to do in case their kid gets sick. You know some of us worry when a fever strikes, now you'll know what the nurses say. Since the other three seem to catch just about everything from each other these came in very handy. Each child had their own thing to say about it, two have the cough now.

SoccerBoy: Tastes like cherry but it has a little aftertaste and it sticks to the roof of your mouth.
Me: Would you use them again?
SoccerBoy: Yeah
Me: Why?
SoccerBoy: It's better than taking medicine and drinking it.

BalletGirl: I like them, they are good.
She got to try them out before the rest, so the moment she saw these she got really excited. Guess she would prefer these over cough syrup.
I did ask her why she liked it better.
BalletGirl: I like these better because I don't have to take spoonfuls of medicine. The cough medicine always taste blek, these taste better.

BabyGirl: Great, I love them. Its really good because I love the juice.

Now Little A started off with the cough, got over it. Ended up catching a fever a few days later after coming in contact with a little boy that was sick. Guess his system was still down. Fever is gone but now he has the tummy bug and is getting over pink eye. I swear when they get something they come down with everything they get near. Unfortuneately the Triaminic strips will not work for him, he may turn 2 today but is still too young for those. A child must be at least 4 years old to use these.

I love the strips because I can toss a few in my purse whenever we go out and always know they are nearby just in case they are needed. When it comes to bringing medicine along, I normally have to carry a cooler insulated bag to keep the medicine cool. I don't now. Course this only works for the older three, I do find it has less of a fighting mentality. In other words the three kids dno't run and hide from me or try telling me they are all better. Have you used any? Don't forget to take a peek at the Sick Day Guidelines.

Here's a coupon for all my readers.

Carpet Fresh Room & Odor Eliminator Blog Tour

Momcentral and Carpet Fresh teamed up and wanted a few bloggers to try out their "Carpet Fresh Room & Odor Eliminator: Quick Dry." I got apple and cinnamon, one of my favorite scents I mean how can one NOT bake when the house already screams it. Well the kids loved that idea and so did I. Cookies were made and brownies as well.

My opinion of the product: A quick and simple way to make your room smell cleaner and fresher.

But I want to be fair and honest. All you have to do is walk around spraying above your carpet and let it soak in. This is great except for one thing, it does take a while drying, well depending on how much you spray. This is perfect though if you don't have kids in the home when you do it. As you know with children you can do something just to have them run through it, you don't want them running through a freshly sprayed carpet. Trust me.

With that being stated, it doesn't take much to use this. Walk around through your house before company is due over and quickly spray the carpets. The floor will get lightly covered in a foam that quickly dissolves into the carpet, leaving behind a gentle scent of whatever you have. For me it was almost like an apple pie. Yummy.

When the company comes in they will immediately be caught up in the scent of the house. Hopefully if you have my scent you already have a batch of cookies or pie waiting. If not just tell them you had one earlier. Or be honest and tell them that you have the Carpet Fresh and they can get it with a $1.50 off coupon, if they visit the site.

Life's Ups and Downs

Why is it when life seems to be going right on track something has to come along and bump it off? I swear I hate that type of stuff, but this time I've decided instead of dwelling on it, as that only puts negative energy around me I'm going to look towards the future.

I'm smiling at the moment and trying to focus on the month ahead of me. Hopefully this will work out, but I'm not sure as I've never actually tried doing this. But they say if you put it out there it'll happen. That's what I'm doing now. I'm throwing up my hands and saying I don't give a .... well you know but since kids might read this I won't say. This is no longer in my hands, I give this over to the universe.

I'm thankful for the things I've learned, the places I've been and seen and look forward to much happier times ahead of me.

Wordless Wednesday: A Manicure/Pedicure Party

The girls and I had a Ms.Manicure & Ms.Pedicure party yesterday and boy did they have fun. Both absolutely loved their bubble bath with all the fun stuff inside it, after that we followed up with the rest of the party. By the way BalletGirl (age 8) got her part in the play she wanted.

BalletGirl loved the buffing block, this was her favorite. BabyGirl liked the pumice stone.

Happy WW!

It Snowed in Lees Summit

Over the weekend we were hit with a pile of snow, but before we could go anywhere the hubby had to get a workout. Just look at that driveway and once he was done he was nice enough to do the elderly couple next door.

Oh and yes we did have a snowball fight, the hubby won too. Course he should've...he had the shovel. hehe.

A Girls' Pampering Day

The girls and I are going to have a "Girls' Spa Day" this afternoon. Why? A few reasons but number one is EVERY girl needs one. I mean you always hear about someone going to the spa but it costs a bit too much at the moment. But I was lucky enough to review some products by a company called, "Ms.Manicure & Ms. Pedicure."

Ms.Manicure is a very cute site where everything is perfectly pink. We have the Heeling Fine (heal cream), Rock n Sole (pumice stone), Call Your Bluff and other items. But that's not all they are going to get to use.

Two weeks ago (a Friday) the kids had a school carnival, now it wasn't a planned event for us but the hubby heard about it and we went. Course once there he bid on 4 baskets and guess what....he got them. One was a big arts & Crafts which is perfect for homeschooling/kids fun stuff. There was a kitchen one that had a giant candle and cook book (I plan to cook yes), then there were two baskets full of all your candles and spa needs. I mean full too. So both girls will get a nice warm bubble bath with some luxuries and a bit of quiet music going in the background. After a while they'll get out, wrap in their robes/night gown and come into the living room for the pampering party to continue where they'll get toes and nails done. This is something both girls have wanted to do so they'll be really excited.

Oh and BalletGirl (age 8) finds out if she got the part in a play she tried out for. So this will be one of those Congratulations party type things and if not a pick me up. Either way it'll be a ton of fun.

Have you had a pampering party lately? If not then why?

Review: Johnson's No More Tears

How many of you have heard of Johnson & Johnson? I'm sure all of you have, either you've used it yourself or know someone that has. As soon as someone becomes pregnant they begin stocking up on all the Baby Johnson & Johnson stuff, everyone brings them this type of stuff for shower gifts, etc. I mean who can resist the smell of a baby straight out of a Johnson & Johnson bath? The smell is intoxicating.

I was recently asked if I'd review the No More Tears Bubble Bath and Head to Toe Foaming Wash. Thank you Momcentral and Johnson & Johnsons. I did and we absolutely love it. Honestly I like the wash better because it has a softness to it that won't sting his eyes when he splashes or puts the bubbles on his face. The bath, unlike my third child, is one of his favorite things to do. He loves to pile the bubbles, place them on his face or your face if you get close enough and of course just toss his ducks around them. The smell it makes though is one that calms the soul. Course you wouldn't know that with the splashing and swimming he does.

The kids love the head-to-toe wash as it just squirts out of the bottle. This has a pump to it so mom isn't always trying to cap and uncap a bottle with a squirming child. Now she just pushes it and applies it. The kids use it as soap by the sink during the day though, but it gets them to wash so I'm not complaining.Did I mention, it also has BUBBLES. haha. That's what Little A says, "BUBBLES, BUBBLES."

Did you know that you can now find tips on Baby's from Johnsons on Youtube. Head over and visit Johnson's page.

Don't forget you can upload a video to share with other moms. Let me know if you do in the comments below. But for now did you know it is Johnson & Johnson's 50th Anniversary? Can you recall a time when you used any of the products? Let's talk about it. Mine is easy, earlier today. But smelling it also reminds me of the time I brought SoccerBoy home and bathed him in that tiny pink tub they give you at the hospital. I loved the smell that came out of that tiny yellow bottle.
