To Do List, Old habits are Hard to Break

Today is just a quick list of things I want to do to prepare for Superbowl Sunday, hopefully I get them all done.

- Post here (check, once I hit publish)
- Clean out my fridge and give it a good washing.
- Make my vision board of what I think and want of "ME"
- Do a load of laundry
- Have BabyGirl read to me from her two books (Dad and Sam & Rags)
- Kitchen & Dining room

Earlier this week, in doing my Challenge (100 day) I promised myself every day I'd get dressed nice, put on some make up (not much) and do my hair up nice. I've done that and am starting to feel really good about myself. Now two days ago I had kids take a few shots of me but I deleted all of them, I analyzed everything. So today, we did it again and I am putting it up here. I think the first way to discover myself and who I am is to accept myself for me. This includes shapes, sizes and all. I think I look nice here too. I'll add more as I go through the challenge, maybe not every day but that's fine.

If you recall two years ago I blogged about wanting to be more than just a mom or looking like one, I think I'm trying to come over that. I want to be a HOT mom, if I must be placed in some mom category. I know I'm not the only mom that feels like this so I think it is safe to say here. Am I right?

Okay so that explains why I added the pic (yes it is a blur). Now moving on, hehe. I need to make a grocery list and see what everyone wants to do if anything for superbowl weekend. We won't be watching but I'll check online to see who wins, unless I can make the tv work. (hoping) I lot has happened in this past week, but I won't discuss it here at this time. On the school front- things are going well, been a bit distracted this week so didn't do any of the work, which means I'll be hitting it today.

Old habits are hard to break, however I'm going to try to limit two things in life and replace them with something else. What are they? My biggest source of caffeine, Starbucks and soda. I noticed how much I've been drinking in the past month and am ashamed by it. (I've been judgemental about how much the husband smokes, I can't say much about that habit if I have one of my own.) So this is in an attempt to get it out of my system and break my own habit. As for soda that was drank mostly if it was in the house, because it was here. I hate water, so I'm replacing it with that. Who knows maybe this will help me get thinner and down to a weight I feel comfortable being in. I no longer want to be disgusted with the way I look. I really want to feel good about me, and know I look good. (part of that 100 day thing) I think the Starbucks was more of a pick me up and made me feel special, which I'm still exploring why. I know I can do this, I did it back in Lejeune but know it'll take at least 30 days to break a habit but you must start small. I had one today, that'll be all for me. (one a day that is, or less if I can)

Got any goals for the week? Month? Plans for Superbowl Sunday? I did win a prize package which I'm really excited about getting from MomReviews. Thanks again Elizabeth.

Wordless Wednesday: My Daughter

Wow, this picture just reminded me of a younger version of me. Course she is much prettier. Love ya BalletGirl! Happy WW! Have you ever looked at your child and seen yourself?

Inspirational Quotes

I thought some of ya'll would like to read some inspirational quotes to help you achieve those goals. Here are a few I discovered and am writing all over the house:

Dream Quotes:- Your vision will become clearonly when you look into your heart ...Who looks outside, dreams.Who looks inside, awakens.~ Carl Jung (1875-1961), Psychologist ~

- If you don't know where you are going, then how will you get there?VISUALISE!Make pictures in your mind.See the desination.Imagine your arrival.Dream in perfect detail.See yourself the way you want to be when you arrive.See yourself arriving.Make yourself a road map and study it every day until you know the way and the destination by heart.~ Bryce Courtenay ~

- Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.~ Gail Devers ~

- It's not your work to make anything happen. It's your work to dream it and let it happen. Law of Attraction will make it happen. In your joy, you create something, and then you maintain your vibrational harmony with it, and the Universe must find a way to bring it about. That's the promise of Law of Attraction. ~ Abraham Hicks ~

- Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~ Mark Twain ~

Life:

- Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great. ~ Mark Twain ~

- Go confidentlyIn the direction of your Dreams.Live the life you've imagined!~ Henry David Thoreau ~

Make Your Dreams Come True

I know there are a ton of moms and dads out there that are desperate to make their dreams come true. But did you know it is easier to achieve this than you know? I didn't really think it was that easy, but as I have been following along with the "The Secret" and Laws of Attraction I've been getting more and more inspired. (Currently I'm taking the 100 Day Reality Challenge, my first step is to get to know the REAL me, the inner one that doesn't always pop up.)

The first step to achieve any goals is to "put it out there" and let it go. Think about it like it has already come true. But for myself I think I have to know what it is I want first. Yeah I can say I want to move (going to anyway) and that'll happen. But if I state:

- I live in a two story home with a wrap around porch, porch swing in the front. A tree swing hangs from a big oak tree in the front yard. It is peaceful with lots of garden space, an area for the family to eat outdoors and a space where Soccerboy can play basketball and not be bugged by the other siblings. Inside the house is enough rooms that everyone has one, provided the girls will share a room more than likely due to their age. However I'd like to have the option to have my own office. This will all be located in a nice community, where there is lots of grass and plenty of trees. Not a place where I will fear to go outside.

See what I mean? There were more details. Had I just said I wish to move to a new house, that could happen but not like I want. I could move in a month or two to a crummy place just because. Granted I could also move to a beautiful home near a creek, there is no telling what the Universe will grant me. But if I give it more details it'll get closer to my dream.

What are you wishing for?

How to Contact Me

Someone wrote me on twitter and asked me, "I know what sites you socialize but how do I contact you to chat?" Here is a few ways you, or anyone can contact me and I'm always online...unless of course I'm sick, sleeping or the computer is broke.

Email: homemom3@gmail.com or elizajane202@yahoo.com or eliza_ferree@yahoo.com (yes I have three but it helps sometimes)

Chat: Google Chat: homemom3@gmail.com or Skpe: homemom2008 once again they are both always up.

I do have yahoo messenger: a_lady_poet and AIM but don't use it much unless ya email me first. Hope this helps and thanks for asking. I'd love for people to chat with during the day.

I Socialize...Do You?

As a mom I feel it is very important to socialize, for me that is the internet. Hey, I'm just not that social butterfly that leaves the house. But since I'm online and always talking to other "mommy bloggers," publicists, advertisers, etc. I thought it would be very important to begin socializing on those "social sites."

How do you socialize or get yourself out there and none? Do you just stick with blogging or venture outside your comfort zone?

Many of you have heard of twitter, for those that haven't it is a mini blog in my opinion. A place where you can tweet (send messages that are up to 2 lines) to the world. You may even get responses from people you've never met, or just those inside your circle.

Here are a few of mine: (http://www.twitter.com/homemom3) this is free too

4 Degrees and Freezing: Actually I'm here to state that my garage was actually
45 degrees, we pulled the van out.. http://tinyurl.com/bwrm2q from twitterfeed

Celebchitchat Rutherford Wins:
Gossip Girl Continues on: It has been decided, Rutherford, aka Gossi.. http://tinyurl.com/b73ufm from twitterfeed

Babylune Judge Says Casey Anthony
Must Appear in Court: Somehow Casey Anthony actually believed she woul.. http://tinyurl.com/bha8uc from twitterfeed

As you can see each post is separted with a date and time and the url if one is needed. These are straight from various blogs I write on. Yes, I have quite a few but I've slowly narrowed that down. Do you have a twitter account? Leave your URL and I'll subscribe to you.

Now on those more personal ones, you can ask a question and get tons of answers. This works great for those that need advice, advertisers getting the word out or even someone writing an article.

Other sites I can now be found on are the following:

LinkedIn
Facebook
Plurk
Twittermoms

I'm sure there are a few others that I've just forgotten but at the moment that's what I do on a daily basis. I'm also starting a new ping group called, "100 Day Challenge." This is in the followings of "The Secret/Laws of Attraction/etc" in the hopes of getting to know the real me and improving my life in all ways that'll make me happy and healthy.

I don't post my address on here, however you can write me and ask me for that. I'm always willing to snail mail others and review any (almost any) products sent this way. Hope this helps some of you find those social sites, my favorite has been twitter.

4 Degrees and Freezing

Actually I'm here to state that my garage was actually 45 degrees, we pulled the van out and now it is 4 degrees outside. The funny thing is the sun is shining and the snow looks out of place. Once again it isn't really snow but a "light dusting" as the people out here call it. Sorry ya'll the white stuff is just that SNOW and COLD.

I'm a desert rat and no longer ashamed to call myself that, once a long time ago I stated I'd never go where the sun shined all day. Let alone back home. It's funny how life makes you eat those words sometimes, while I may not go back to live in the desert per say, I wouldn't mind living back that way where it is more green with trees and still gets a variety of seasons. See I did states a variety, but not these extreme things. I've learned that once you've been raised in a climate your body adapts to it over time. Mine, is quickly deteriating (sp) and hates the cold. There are days I cannot move due to some nerve. Not to mention ice is not good for a person that tends to be very much a klutz. Hey, I'm originally a blonde. Shhh, don't tell no one I've made them all believe I'm a natural red head and LOVE it.

Course the time has also come now that my hair is no longer nice to me, the red is wearing out and my age is starting to shine through. Sorry but when you have gray coming through your kids tend to shout it out.

Some of you may be wondering why the heck I'm up at thsi hour on a Saturday. Well this "old broad" as some may call me, is GOING to college. Something I honestly never saw coming true for at least another ten years, but I'm kind of loving it. Kind of because I'm taking the one class I never should've passed in high school. MATH. I won't even get into that one. But I'm excited to know that I'm in the beginning process of getting an Associates degree in Business. Next term I get to pick my own classes, I'm guessing it won't be math for a bit, that hurts the brain too much. Okay back on the road so getting off here.

How's the weather where you are?

Win a Cartier Love Collection and More

Okay this contest is NOT on The Life of a Home Mom, however I love the people that are doing it and they've done several giveaways here before and on other sites. So I felt great to share with you their newest one that is perfect for Valentine's day and not something everyone is going to go out and get for their love.

What is it?

First you'll have to commit a selfless act of love, hmmm, that should be easy for those of you in love right. Well with Valentine's Day it is an even better reason. Life is actually sponsoring this one and they want you to prepare your life and that of someone you love. But one thing....you must be 18 or OLDER to do this. You can nominate a friend, a lover, or someone you know that has done one selfless thing to get a chance to win some prizes. One of which happens to be the Cartier Love Collection, there are over $2K in prizes though.

While the contest is called Insure Your Love you don't have to have your nomination be something related to Life insurance. It could be someone that took you in when you needed a home, someone that gave you that first selfless act of love, etc. It's up to you who you nominate.

Who do you nominate? Get on this today and if you win, come back and tell me.

Bawling My Eyes Out

BabyGirl and I have been bawling our eyes out over a gosh darn movie. What movie you ask? Well one I found in the Redbox last night, it had a cute little girl on it and a beautiful horse. I thought oh you can never go wrong with that. Sure enough I was sooooo wrong. This movie has done nothing more than make me cry every few minutes. But it is a good cry, so for those of you that haven't seen it yet, go out and rent All Roads Lead to Home.

Imagine a little girl losing her mom, having no friends in school. She ends up being a problem child for her father and goes to stay with her mean old grandfather on his horse ranch. He's never got over the loss of his daughter (her mom). She blames her father for her mother's death. But somehow they have to get along right? Ha I'm not talking to you about that. You have to watch it now.

I Found My Dream Home

Okay, many of ya'll know I'm doing a dream board, also known as a Vision Board. My house has been drawn and today I actually came across it. Or at least one that really, really looks like it.

But there is one catch, it isn't my home. But it could be and no it isn't for sale. HGTV is actually giving it away this year. You know HGTV gives away one house every year, this year it happens to be in Sonoma, California. Last year it was in Florida and the year before that it was in Colorado. They pick the most beautiful places for a person to ever dream of living.

This year the home is a three bedroom, 3 1/2 bath, living room, family room, den, etc. A wrap around front porch, 2 car garage and a giant oak tree in the front yard. For those wondering, my dream home had an oak tree in the front yard with a tire swing that hung down. A wrap around porch with porch swing, an area my son could play basketball and enough yard for me to have a garden. Lets just say this place is a DREAM. You can win it though, I won't hide it from you. Click the link to enter the HGTV Dream home Giveaway.

We Have Heat!

Okay, for those that didn't read my post earlier I finally told ya'll we haven't had heat in this house for over a month. Now with that being stated we did go out and buy those heater things to keep the rooms warm and when that didn't work we stayed in hotel rooms. OUCH! But the hotels were very much enjoyed and a needed break.

Today the heater man came and fixed it, apparently my blower wasn't blowing. I'm sure some of ya'll will know what that means, to me it just meant the machine was VERY broken and needed to be replaced. He did it all in under two hours. I thanked him and he left, course not before he asked me how long it had been out. I explained I'd told the landlady over a month ago, he got a very disturbed look on his face. I thanked him again before he walked out.

The house is slowly getting warm, the two younger ones are loving it as am I. Now to heat up outside and I'll be happy. I no longer like the white stuff, it makes everything COLD and backs very SORE. But I am happy to have a working house where I"m not having to plug heaters in and running up electric bills. Phew! Okay back to blogging. Hopefully I'll have some fun stuff for you soon, I've been talking with a few about more giveaways. Oh and if I haven't heard from my superbowl gal, I'll be doing another drawing within an hour. Watch those emails.

My Story Tag

A dear friend of mine, Janet from NC, wrote on her myspace blog this tag and I'll tag a few of you at the bottom but for those I don't tag please do it and link at the bottom (in the comments)

My story - Finish the sentence:

Hi, my name is:
Eliza aka Homemom3

Never in my life have I been to:
out of the country

I hate it when:
I'm late to anything. (Yep I'm one of those people that if she/he knows they'll be late they just don't show up. This weekend we thought I was going to be late for my first college class, I was all we don't have to go. lol. Yep, oh and I wasn't late we just werent' sure with traffic.)

If your gonna talk smack about me
Don't. I hate lies.

The one person who can drive me nuts is:
my husband, sometimes the kids do too. (hehe love ya babe)

When I'm nervous:
I sweat

The last song I listened to was:
Patsy Cline

My hair is:
pass the shoulders and a reddish color. Kids say it has gray in it. shhh, don't tell me that.

When I was 5:
I had a best friend named Stacy.

Last Christmas:
was a great one but at the same time it was our coldest. (heater died and landlord refused to fix it)

I should be:
blogging...oh wait...I AM. haha

The happiest recent event was:
this past week believe it or not, the hubby and I got closer, stayed at a hotel and then SoccerBoy had his first mini date. (read post on his first date to understand what I mean)

My current annoyance is:
fighting kids and traffic, course I could also toss renting homes in there. Some of you will understand that.

I have a hard time understanding:
math. I always sucked at it, had two bad teachers (one didn't speak english and the other was a perv) I never took math again. Wouldnt' you know it is my first class to take for college. I'm actually loving it.

The thing I want to buy is:
a new home and some business outfits (I know that's two but they go hand in hand right?)

Most recent thing I've bought myself:
just myself? books, coffee, small things like that.

Most recent thing someone else bought me was:
frapp from Starbucks (about an hour ago)

My middle name is;
Anne (my dad loved to say AND what, that drove me nuts)

In the morning:
I get up and wake everyone up and the daily fighting begins. Gotta love those older kids right? I swear they are NOT morning people.

Last night I was
PMSing bad, even though it is not that time. I think I'm just tired of this house and the cold. I want it to be summer and I HATE summer.

If I were an animal I'd be:
Hmm normally I'd say a monkey but I'm thinking now that I'd want to be a cat. Cats are loved by many and have nine lives, not to mention they can get to just about any place they want. Imagine the stories a cat could tell. Wow.

Tomorrow I am:
waiting for the heater guy, landlord called and said he might be here. I sure hope so, it's been over a month since the heater went out. One reason we've been staying at hotels.

Tonight I am
just veg out with the kids, currently watching Tinkerbell. (the new one)

Now it’s your turn to tell me YOUR story: Gayla, Julie Bonner, Brandy, SouthernBlessings and Elizabeth (I hear she's been in a blogging block).

His First Date

Okay, this past weekend was SoccerBoy's very first, first date. We've been calling it a mini date since it was more of a trial thing and everyone plus the girlfriend went to the movies. Hey, we went to see "Hotel for Dogs" and it is a kid friendly movie so we just had to take the other kids and if I was bringing them I'd need the help of the spouse. Right? lol

I did get to talk with the girl's (I'll call SoccerBoy's GF)mom before and learned she's very much like us....OLD FASHIONED. We taught SoccerBoy that on a first date you do get her a flower (carnation) and a teddy bear. He opted for an orange with red tinged carnation and a black puppy with a heart, all the other teddy bears said I love you and he wasn't doing that. It was fun watching him pick though but sad at the same time as I realized my little boy is growing up fast. Geez I remember his first penpal Bay and Sarah, their mom blogs over at Askewtoyou and we've been friends ever since. But it still shocks you to see everyone grow up.

SoccerBoy waited patiently outside the theater with Daddy, while the girls, Little A and I stayed in the warm inside. But when it came to only minutes before the movie I walked out (hoping she'd get there soon) and let them know we were getting seats. Thankfully they made it just as opening credits came on (you know all those previews), I got the very back row that had two single seats (by themselves) directly in front of mine. Kids, hubby and I sat in the back and the date couple sat in front. She is cute but very shy, polite as well, which I like.

Here's a pic of him before the date:

He did ask not to take anymore pics, I granted that wish. The movie, "Hotel for Dogs" I think was a cute first date movie. It was agreed on by her mom who did not want her seeing anythings scary without her. (I totally get that) Soccerboy's GF did state she enjoyed it and slowly began talking after the movie. He's already talking about Valentine's day. Isn't it cute?

McDonald's: Where's the Beef?

Okay, normally I don't post about what I eat....but sometimes I do. This time it is about McDonald's and I'm not impressed. I'm sure with the growing economy we all know about the shrinking items, but to reduce the size of the meat?

I went in and ordered a Big Mac (not something I normally do) and my son ordered a Double Quarter Pounder, his turned out bigger than mine. But more amazing was the size of the meat on my Mac, it was more like a Mini Mac. I did not order a Big Mac from the kids menu by the way, in fact they don't even have one. So I'm totally stealing the next line from Wendy's:

(Top Two: My Big Mac, inside my mac hold the lettuce)
(Bottom left to right: My mac with a quarter pounder meat (stolen from son's food), inside my mac)

Dear McDonald's,

Where's the meat? I ordered a Big Mac and it came with shrunken meat. Please, please bring back the beef.
Eliza

By the way take a peek at the ad right above this and tell me the pic above is the same as the ones I have of my own that I got. I even went back today to see if it was just a one day thing and ended up with the same size, from now on I'll just order a mini mac.

Wordless Wednesday: Daddy Pic

I've heard some of you want to see what "Daddy" looks like, he's not one to take pics so here is a shot of him. Hey you didn't really think you were going to see his face now did you? But you can see Little A. Isn't he cute?

Don't forget to enter the NFL Giveaway and the Fandango Giveaway on my site. Happy WW!

Teen Texts 14,528 in a Month

EEEk, this would be possibly a parents worst nightmare, at least when it came time to the first phone bill. Right? Imagine getting your teen a phone and a month later getting a 440 page phone bill and finding out your teen text messaged 14,528 times.

The bill would be enormous right? Not if it was semi-planned. Thankfully this father thought ahead of time and got the unlimited text message service for $30 a month. Otherwise he would've owed a couple THOUSAND Dollars. Course this also shows his daughter has this phone way too much.

First if you do the math, which he did it makes it out to be 484 texts a day or 1 text every 2 minutes. Ummm, what's going on during school? When does she go to bed? etc.

Now I've been selling the Kajeet phone for a few months now and think this is definitely the phone I'll be getting my son. First, I can actually block numbers and lock hours he can't get on the phone. Which of course would be after bed time and during school hours. Sounds reasonable right?

Currently if you purchase a Kajeet phone between now and Feb 16 you can get 3000 FREE text messages. Plus the phones can be bought as low as $49.99 ($39.99 for refurbished) and plans begin as low as $4.99 a month. Doesn't this sound a bit more reasonable for a teen. They can't go over either, when they run out of minutes that's it.

5 Miniute Crash Course in College

Well a few of you emailed asking how that first class for college went. Lets just say it was a crash course, literally. I got there and the teacher showed me really quickly how to access the site in which the class would learn on Saturday. That's it. She said all they would be doing is the site and assestment on it. So I drove all the way down there to see the instructor for 5 minutes and to go home. Kids liked it though, they got to eat out. We went to A&W/Long John Silver and I must say it was pretty good, we haven't been there in about a year. If you recall it was a year ago (and a few days) that hubby got into the car accident in front of the place so we've kind of stayed away from there.

My M&Ms makes Great Gifts

I was recently asked to review some chocolate, hey why would any woman say no right? Thanks to My M&Ms and MomCentral for this opportunity. But instead of just trying them out myself or having the kids and hubby try them I had the hubby take one package to work. When he got them at work they didn't last long. Several had comments:

- These are neat.
- Nifty.
- Interesting
- Where'd you get these?
- Would make great gifts.

Now these weren't just any package of M&Ms. Nope they were M&Ms that you got to actually design yourself. You can pick the colors you want, phrases and have a picture placed on every M&M. Now I didn't have any pics of all four kids together so I didn't want to do that. Instead I stuck with the below:

Happy Holidays
Ferree Family
Thinking of U
I love U

I also got to pick the colors so I chose: dark pink, dark green and blue.

I liked the fact that the M&Ms didn't taste chalky which I had wondered about and the sayings all fit on the M&Ms. To be honest I think these would make great gift ideas, a bag full for the Grad or a Prom. Maybe even a birthday party or Valentine's Gift. The My M&Ms range in price depending on what you pick out. A simple bag costs $14.99 for 7oz, but a silver tin which would be great for a wedding gift can cost around $85 but that is for 20 mini tins.

You can choose from: Silver tins, mini glass box, elegant bags, clear box, gift bags, 7oz bag. You can even add little teddy bears, an M&M dispenser or champagne flutes. As you can see there is something for everyone. Head over to My M&Ms and check them out.

College Starts Early

Well since the hubby has Army duty this weekend (feels strange saying that) I would miss my first class. I quickly shot her an email to let her know this morning and she wrote back that I could actually attend tonight. So my first day of College begins early.

Currently we are at yet another red light, hopefully carma will be with me and help me get there before class starts. Yes, I'm the type of person that hates entering anywhere late. Plus they have my college card there and I'd like to pick that up as well.

Wish me luck!

Tried Amazon Associates and Bombed out

I've been using Amazon Associates since 2001. I won't lie to you though, I haven't earned much from them. Before anyone asks I've only made between $50-100.00 from them. I know others have stated they get that a month. Got any secrets? How about another program that offers this same type of stuff? I'm always eager to try things.

In the next few days I'll mention those things that worked for me last year and those that didn't. I'd love it if you shared with me your trial and errors. Speak up so others know what to try and what not to try.

For those that would like to try Amazon Associates here is a link. Click it and scroll down to the bottom of the page, click Join associates. Good Luck! Now the one thing I do like and would LOVE is they pay either check or amazon Amazon.com Gift Card, I pick the cards since I use the site frequently.

New Year of Changes Coming ...

Oh the crisp winter air has blew in the New Year and boy is it full of changes. Changes I'm not so sure I'm ready for and some I think has been just waiting for me to take. I'm stubborn though, I'm not one that likes change. I like to stay the same and just sit back and watch things go by, but I think it's time to flow into the course of the wind and just close my eyes and believe the winds will take me to where I'm suppose to go.

Instead of getting deep and telling all the changes, lets just say some will know and some will wonder but all in all I'm hoping it'll be good changes for everyone involved. After all mother nature is suppose to take care of those that live on her Earth, I would hope she wouldn't try destroying it. I raise my arms to her and open my mind to the possibilities.

Take me to my changes Mother Nature!
