The Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame Contest

Have you entered in the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame Contest yet? Yes, you know the battery with the Energizer Bunny, the pink one. Yep that's the one. Currently you can enter the contest by nominating someone you know that is just like the Energizer Bunny. Honestly I thought of a few people but one friend really stuck out to me, that friend is AskewToYou. This is one woman that is amazing.

You can nominate yourself or somone else. As nominator you must write
an essay of between 50 and 350 words describing yourself or another individual
who should be nominated (the “Nominee”) to the upcoming Energizer Keep Going®
Hall of Fame.

An interesting fact, the winner of 2006 actually lived out here in Missouri. His name is John O'Leary. The deadline to nominate yourself or someone you know is March 31st, so get those entries in.

Every day, people from all walks of life are compared to the Energizer Bunny®, from celebrities to athletes and politicians. But only once a year do Americans collectively identify that one individual who is so unstoppable and so civic-minded that he or she deserves entry into Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame.

The Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame was started in 2006 as a way to honor everyday people for the energy and perseverance they show in their daily lives, no matter what challenges they might face. Today, there are four members in the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame, and now through March 31, the search is on for the 2009 inductee. The winner will earn a $10,000 cash prize and a $5,000 donation to his or her favorite charity.

“Through the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame, Energizer is connecting a group of people who have a similar outlook on life,” Ripken said. “People who share a common approach and embody the characteristics of the Energizer Bunny: enthusiasm, perseverance and a positive approach to all that they do.”

Energizer is looking for candidates with a great story about how they have positively impacted others through strong leadership and perseverance. “Through their stories, we hope to inspire others to find the Keep Going® spirit in their own lives,” said Betsy Laakko, Director of Marketing for Energizer.

My hero is my husband. He has had to endure so much in the last 10 years and yet he puts his family first and keeps going. He lost his job last year and the closest job was 2 hours away. He would get up early every morning so that he could be home in time to tuck his kids into bed. He wanted to be there for his kids. Fortunately he found a new job which meant we could be a full-time family again which feels fantastic. He still puts his family first.

my sister. She tries to be all things to everyone. Takes care of the house inside and out, including yardwork, cooks yummy meals, solves her kids' problems, acts as taxi driver for kids for all their activities. When I visit her on my vacation, she lets me bring my dirty laundry and my computer. My laundry gets washed, dried and folded. My computer gets vaccuumed and any software upgrades it needs. If I mention that I need to replace a bulb or air filter in my car, she's done it before I can say boo! When my parents were having medical problems, my sister went to the stores, bought lots of healthy food, went home, cooked it all, packaged it up in freezer containers, and then drove 2 1/2 hours to their house so they could eat better.
Don't know where she gets all her energy.

Thanks for the giveaway!

My wife has more energy than I can even imagine being humanly possible, and SHE is my hero!
I have had 6 surgeries in the last 6 years, including the removal of a testicle, and most recently, steel rods screwed into my spine. She has single-handedly nursed me through all my recoveries, which includes bathing, dressing, feeding, gauze-bandage changings, running to the pharmacy and dispensing my meds, chauffering me to doctor appointments, etc.
Heaped upon her strong shoulders has also been my share of raising 3 kids, household chores, yardwork, and finance-keeping.
Watching her wrestle our mower up and down the yard brought a little tear of pride and gratitude to my eye.
She has never complained about the incredible responsibilities and work load that has been dumped on her, instead she just keeps going, and going, and going.....

A little cliche, but my hero is my mom, who went back to nursing school in her mid-forties with students half her age, fulfilled her dream of becoming an RN, and has been an amazing nurse on a maternity ward ever since, despite suffering from arthritis and gout. She's definitely the hardest working and energetic people I know. Thanks for the giveaway!

My HERO is my boyfriend of several years; gravely and permanently injured in a work-related accident over a year ago, he persistantly strives, day after day, to regain his life (his ability to walk among other things) and he has not let pain, depression or disability wear him down! His courage humbles me, and his perseverance is astonishing.

My hero is my Dad, he was forced to quit school during his 8th grade year, he was never able to return. At 16 he obtained a job and there he stayed until retirement. He retired being the head person in his department with honors. He also built the home I grew up in from the floor to the roof...where he and my mom still live to this day (with many remodels). He pushed myself and sisters to graduate high school and he stood there very proud of each of us. Yes, MY DAD is my HERO!

My hero is my husband who is a disabled veteran. He has days where he does not want to get out of bed, he has days where he cannot get out of bed yet he smiles and goes on. Yes, he is wracked with pain from back to neck to leg pain and he struggles everyday to keep on and show the family he loves them and tries to do all he can. He has waited for forever as usual with govt responses, and is as patient as ever..me I would be screaming and yelling but he says give it time. He will get up and sit in his special chair at the computer and work and try to sell things on ebay to help pay bills, and he does what he can. Sure he doesn't know how to cook or clean but he makes me smile, and other little things he does mean the world to me. He supports me when I make boxes for the troops and boxes for the the wives at home, and knows its my way of saying someone knows what you are giving up, thankyou for serving and thankyou for supporting your husband while he is serving. He has great days and has bad days, but the fact he goes in life and smiles - thats why he is my hero.
