Have you been Naughty Or Nice?

Well Santa is just about here boys and girls, I've been watching the Santa Tracker all day. So he has little bit longer to check that naughty or nice list and I have one question to all of you.....

Have you been....

NAUGHTY or NICE?

Remember folks, Santa's watching!

Okay for those of you that know me, we've already opened all our presents and now the children are eagerly waiting for morning because they know any presents under the tree will be from Santa. They aren't 100% sure if they've been Naughty or Nice. I think I'll keep them in suspense.

Where's Santa?

With only hours to go before Santa arrives at your house I bet you are hearing all types of things from your kids.

Mom, was I good this year? How does Santa know if I'm still behaving? Where's Santa now mom?

Well for most of those you can have Santa email your kids a letter telling them they've behaved. Mine did and even told him what they wanted for Christmas and he's already sent back two letters. One was from and elf named Binky and one from the Old St. Nick himself.

As for behaving I guess you can always tell them that if they don't behave Santa will leave them coal in their stockings. hehe. That's what I told mine. But for those of you that have a child wanting to know where Santa is you can show them his location on the Norad Tracker, we've been watching him all morning and currently he's bouncing back and forth between Japan, Australia and Russia. Take a peek.

Window Mobile Smartphone

Did you know Windows has a phone out? I had no clue but I guess these days it shouldn't be a surprise that computer programming companies are coming out with them. I mean even Google has a phone now. So what's the new phone?

Windows Mobile Smartphone, which you can currently purchase it through the link or one of three companies: VerizonWireless, AT&T or Sprint. The SmartPhone comes with:

Version 6.1, Microsoft Office Mobile, WindowsLive (which I LOVE), Windows Media Player, Voice Recognition, Non-touch Screen, tourch screen with stylus, QWERTY keyboard, 3G, WI-Fi, Internal GPS (never get lost)

This little guy will become your lifeline to just about everything and since you can access your email and make phone calls its that much easier to love. There are actually 38 devices (phones) to choose from, the newest one being a very sleek SamSung Omnia. I won't lie, I love the SamSung phone, something about it now I haven't tried this one but it looks very nice. The battery is even good for 5 hours of talking, hopefully you don't need that much in one call but ya never know.

Christmas Movie Winners

11 & 91 were the winners in the Christmas (New & Old Classics) so would:

Leah- At the moment, The Santa Clause. I just watched it again and it's
cute.not.a.ship{at}gmail.com

Shelly- Elf cracks me up. And I love Joy to the World.

Please email me at homemom3@gmail.com with your address so I can get these sent to you. Thank you.

Win Christmas Movies!

Homemom3 is giving away two different sets of movies, one is The Classic Christmas Movie Collection and the other is the NEW classic Christmas Movies. Now only two winners will get this so you have to get in on this now, oh and did I mention there is only one day to enter.

Okay, in my local paper I read how some people are actually trying to BAN Rudolph songs and others don't want their kids singing about Santa Clause. Why? Ruldolph teaches about how the other reindeer treated him bad. Santa breaks into your home from the chimney.

Umm, what about all the other stuff? I think it showed that no matter what he still found others that excepted him for who he was and later they'd all discover it. Santa was a very giving man, made toys all year and delivered. Come on! Well both are staying in my house and the songs will be song even after Christmas I'm sure.

Now who wants to win these movies? You will get: Gumby, Fat Albert, Casper, George of the Jungle (all the new ones) and Frosty, Rudolph, Santa Claus, etc.

To win: Leave a comment (WITH AN EMAIL) telling me your favorite Christmas carol/movie. You will need to respond to my email within 10 hours. Be ready! I'll announce a winner tomorrow night.

Baby Einstein Celebrates 10 Years

A few weeks ago Momcentral teamed up with Baby Einstein and blessed this house with its very first Baby Einstein video, cd and book. I want to tell you I'm ashamed to state that and I wasn't blind to this company, in fact a very good friend in Sweden tells me all about these videos...I just hadn't bought them.

The first thing that Little A grabbed was the book, "boook." He begain right away looking at it and of course his older sister, BalletGirl tried reading to him. But she had to wait for him to put the book down before she could finish the story. His book was the touch and feel Farm animals and he definitely knows the cow. He felt the cows nose, velvety and then said, "Cow..Moo." He did however refuse to pet the lamb on the inside page, he insisted the book had to be closed to pet it. I'm guessing since when you look at it that is the part sticking out.

The video is Baby Mozart and for him it is only good during certain parts. He wouldn't sit long enough, but he did enjoy the Lullaby Classics CD. He even bopped his head back and forth in a swaying position. To me the video was perfect for a calming afternoon, since everything is quiet and soothing. It was his sister, Babygirl (age 5) that seemed to enjoy the movie. For those that have never seen it there are real-life pictures that go with the theme. There's even a tiny puppet show.

Thanks Baby Einstein and Momcentral for giving me something besides Barney for a little while.

No Voice

Man I hate having no voice, but seems like that sore throat and fever has taken away my voice yet again. This time I think I hurt it more last week when it first started, I ate a pizza and think I ripped part of the inside of my throat. (had some small evidence)

Anyways now it is super sore and hurts to talk so looks like once again I have laringitis (not sure of the spelling). Kids are just loving this, they even told me to hush and handed me a piece of paper and a pen. UGH!

How many of you have dealt with this? Any remedies... BESIDES NOT TALKING.

Elks Take SoccerBoy Shopping

On Friday Morning I had a weird number show up on my phone, so what does one do that loves the internet? I googled it, saw it was in the area and did a research search. I still wasn't sure, so finally I called it back but not before hearing my kid on my answering machine and then another followed up, "Can we adopt your kids for the weekend?" Now I knew no one literally wanted to adopt them but what did they do so well or need them for. I called.

Teacher told me they wanted to pick SoccerBoy for a shopping spree. ??? A what? Well, he doesn't need it. They told me only so many are picked from each school and he was one of them. I made a few calls, got him a ride down there and called school box stating yes. This would be the first time we have ever allowed any of our kids to go anywhere like this, especially on a weekend.

So the deal was done, SoccerBoy would show up at Sears Grand at 7 a.m. to go shopping with an Elk (no not a deer). They let him spend $200 on whatever, unlike most kids he decided to have fun with it and shop for everyone in the family, plus something for Toys For Tots. He got some really nice gifts too, but as the teacher told me later, he KNOWS how to shop and gets TONS for so little. They were amazed as the other kids got $185 iPods or $40 snowboards and he got two large garbage bags full of presents for not just him but everyone in the family (at least 2 each).

Later today we'll take him down to drop off his toy for tots. He's so proud of it, but I'm just boiling over with pride for him. I'll update ya later on what all he got, I just had to share this with my readers.

SoccerBoy Made the Weekly Paper

Woo hoo, found out that SoccerBoy made the paper. First, I wasn't very pleased as we did sign a piece of paper stating our kids were NOT to be in the media/paper/anything at the beginning of the school year.

But I got a note that came home the other day with him, he was so excited and first thing out of his mouth was "Mom, you are going to be mad and happy." My first thought was okay how do I respond to this. "Why?"

He tossed the note to me with a somewhat cheesy grin, "I didn't say anything bad." Now I'm quickly opening this note thinking back to the days at the other school when I'd get a note like this. Please no, let it be good.

"We'd like to inform you that your son, Soccerboy, will be in the newspaper on Saturday, December 13. We are letting you know in case you wanted to get a few copies. Soccerboy was picked to be the Cougar of the Month."

In the paper....yes, of course I grabbed it. Had hubby grab 4 copies, he grabbed more. I figure, one for self, one he takes to work, one Soccerboy will save and one for the family that asks. lol. Now we have more copies. It was a nice write up, granted I do wish I was informed, we could've totally styled his hair. We were allowing it to grow out until end of winter so it is shaggy looking right now. But he didn't care, which is all that matters. If I can find a link I'll show ya'll. But he did great, if you want to congratulate him you can leave a comment and I'll show him later today. Yes, I'm a very proud mommy at the moment and have even more to share in a moment.

Tok Box Helps Familes Stay in Touch

We are no longer in the military but I found a site that would be great if we were. The site is called Tok Box and basically what you do is chat live in a little box on the top of your screen. I'm loving this and am going to actually do this as a Christmas Morning Greeting for the entire family on the west coast.

The family doesn't get to see the kids much, never did when we were in the military as we were always moving from one place or another or the opposite side of the states. Now we are stuck in the center and still a bit too far, with the economy and all. Not something we can just take a vacation for with four kids and our pocketbooks and vise versa. We do use the phone and I tend to use myspace a ton for pictures, so the family sees us through these avenues.

However with Tok Box, you sign up for a free account and you don't have to download everything. If you are like me you are very hesitant when it comes to that last part. Now one thing I do wish is that they had it so you could do this using skype, right now you can use it with AIM, yahoo messenger, msn and google. Once you choose which one you want to use you can quickly upload your video and click send. This will give you a link and you can send it to your friends, when they click the link it'll give them a pop up of you and they can not only see you but hear you as well. (great for grandparents seeing the grandkids that can't yet talk or those deployed overseas)

I plan on using this even more if the hubby does get sent overseas. Didn't I tell ya.... he re-enlisted, well he's not in the Marine Corp (like he'd love to be) but he is in the Army Reserves. I think he'd just love this feature. I will be using it a lot more now though, once the kids see this they'll probably want to call their Aunt J, cousins and grandparents. Another thing I love....it is FREE, no long distance bills for anyone.

Thanks to MomCentral for pointing me towards TokBox and I'll be sending everyone a video very soon. It's pretty easy to use. One more thing, there is a public area everyone can just leave their links (reminds me of a chatroom that everyone can see you) but I am skiddish on those so I didn't leave mine. However I did look at a few just to see what it was like. So I can see this becoming a thing teens would like, but as a parent you can control it too.

Giveway: The Busy Ball-tivity Center

The Busy Ball-Tivity Center can stack, spin, move and everything that'll get your little toddler wanting to stay with it for a long while. My son loves to try stacking them on top of each other. The first day he was all about sitting or trying to sit in the center, we've finally convinced him it wasn't a pool. (only thing we could think of) Now he likes putting the ball in the hover hole and trying to fish it out. I say trying because if he just goes to push on it it goes back in, however if he grabs it or swats it from the side it gets out of the area. The lady bug he knows makes it all start singing if you push on her, so he'll push her and grab the balls. Hippo spins it's ears, the tree top spins, aligator chomps and the lady bug will pop the monkey out of the tree. While all this is going on the balls are spinning in the center of the tiny jungle. If you place the tree on the hippo, the tree still spins.

When the center is on a musical chime (calypso)is played, it isn't too annoying like some toys I've heard either. In fact it's actually catchy, better watch yourself.

I'll be giving this one away to one lucky reader. Just let me know your favorite Playskool item. If you don't want to wait for the giveaway you can currently get Playskool Busy Ball-Tivity Center
at Amazon for $10.99, right now, instead of $34.99. GREAT Deal. (yes that's my aff. link)

RULES: Leave a comment telling me your favorite Playskool product. "ex: I like the Kota the Triceratops is neat." US ONLY PLEASE (sorry)

Deadline: December 14th, I'll announce a winner on the 15th. You'll have 12 hours to respond.

Good luck everyone!

Review: FurReal Friends Tumbles

Ya'll know BabyGirl (age 5) has been wanting a dog forever, she even pretends to have an invisible one. Thanks to Shannon for sending this our way. As you can see by the picture she just loves this dog, in fact she took it everywhere with us. We did have to explain why she couldn't take her dog inside the store or restaurants.

Fur Real Friends Tumbles my Roll Over Pup
is a very cute and cuddly dog, she comes with her own doghouse too. Once you get her out she's already in that roll over position and perfect for cuddling up to you. One push on her paw and she comes to life making soft puppy barking and twisting about. Oh and if you pet him enough, like any REAL dog he'll fall asleep. Isn't that just cute? Now I won't have to clean up after him. I love it and as you can see so does she.

Review: Baby Alive Learns to Potty

Baby Alive Learns to Potty has made one little girl very happy in this house. Yes, I know I said I'd never allow her but she made her squeal. The Baby Alive Doll is learning to potty and I've actually discovered there are a few great things that come with having her here. First the doll says a few phrases like:

- I made a stinky.
- Tinkle Tinkle, Tinkle (then she pees)
- Lets play...boo
- it laughs
- I'm hungry
- I love you mommy

The Baby Alive Learns to Potty comes with two diapers, two packets of food, wipes and a baby bottle. By the way, yes the baby really does pee. The diaper gets wet and all. The kids will love this doll, however mom and dad be prepared to buy more diapers. The kids plan on potty training her next. Oh and since we are in the process Little A knows what the potty is...he tried going on her potty.

We also got to try a few other items out, the Poneyville from My Little Ponies, Giggle Balls, Busy Playskool Busy Ball-Tivity Center and FurReal Friends Tumbles. We will be giving two of these items away, read the reviews coming up to find out which ones.

Snowing in Lees Summit

This morning I woke to the rain, it was nothing hard but apparently it had been raining all night. I wouldn't know, I've been sick and staying in bed. The hubby got up and quickly went to work, the kids got up and off to school they went. But I began hearing a strange sound, it wasn't rain now, it was small ice droppings coming down. I took a few pics of before, but they are in the wrong camera. But had no clue of what after would look like, have fun in my tour of a day of watching the snow fall in Lees Summit.

I think the kids will be delighted, I hope they don't mind checking the mail. But for those that know me, snow would not help with my being a clutz. Picture me trying to get down snow covered steps or a steep drive. haha.

I guess it is a good thing I bought gloves and ear muffs this weekend huh? Jackets were already bought and shoes, thank goodness. Now to get some sweaters, hey I love those things and now have a reason to wear them. For those that don't know I grew up in the desert (mojave desert to be exact), then moved to Yuma, AZ (which is another desert), finally we got out of the desert but got beached. Snow was not something we'd really seen much of. My kids thought snow was something that lightly covered the ground, that is until we moved out here last year. We got here the day before Christmas, snow covered the ground but we never played much in it as we were just moving into town. So this will definitely be a fun year.

In this picture the snow was coming down in gusts, I don't think you can see the gusts but you can see the snow falling. Look how thick it is on that rail already.

Oh my son does ask, How much should he charge to shovel drives? I had no clue to be honest as we never dealt with the stuff.
I do hope you enjoyed our trip through the snow, I'm sure if this keeps up I'll have a ton of pictures to share with you tomorrow. I hear from www.KCWeather.org that there is about 2 inches in Lees Summit and 1-3 in the Kansas City area. Be careful and be safe.
Got any pictures of your area to show me? I'd love to see some. The kids are loving all the snow pictures that everyone is sending us. Comment below with a link to your site. :)
Don't forget all the giveaways we have here at The Life of a Home Mom.

My favorite memory of jeans is the size I wore in highschool-a size 5! I don't want to say what size I wear now!smchester at gmail dot com

Erica said...
One of the best jean memories I have is one night I had no "cool" jeans to go out in. When I say go out I mean like to a night club with my friends. So yeah, I had nothing to wear, although ladies say that with a closet full of clothes.LOL..Well, since "i had nothing to wear" I went into my little sisters room and snagged a few of her jeans(sz.5). Mind you, she is way smaller then I am and I just knew that her jeans wouldn't fit. But I tried anyway and I slipped right in to them!! I was so shocked but I loved it beacause they fit just right. :) That wont happen now for sure though since she's a size freakin 0!! ugh I hate her!! LOL She has NO KIDS btw..LOL

joannaonthelake said...
One of my perhaps less finer moments when it comes to jeans was back about 11 years ago when I was in High School. I always loved to wear really cool hot looking jeans. My parents wouldn't allow me to wear them to school, so like the determine young girl that I was I snuck them in my backpack and would change into them once I got to school. This one day I was wearing (apparently) a pair of jeans that my French Teacher, who was actually German, thought were a little too low rise, and a little too tight, and when I walked into the classroom with them on he started yelling at me in half English half German about how awful the jeans were and how I should not be allowed to wear them! Can you imagine my shock, disbelief, and not really embarassment, but more sort of laughing at him because what the heck, I didn't speak German, it was French class for heavens sake! The kids in the class started laughing too, not at me, but at him. It was sort of a joke around school that day, but for some reason, I never wore those jeans to school again! I guess something deep inside me felt a little guilty for wearing them in the first place against my parents rules! See, I wasn't such a bad kid afterall! I wonder what my French teacher would think about Joe's Jeans??? I know one thing, I have always wanted to own a pair of Joe Jeans. They have so many really cool pairs and designs. It would become my dream pair of jeans! I still live in jeans so I know I would wear them all the time. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter and share my story!joannaonthelake@gmail.com

Lands' End Sleeping Bag Takes Turns

We've been trying out a very soft and comfy sleeping bag from Lands' End and so far it has been passed around. This sleeping bag is suppose to be for a "child" however I must say that in order to be fair I just had to test it out as well. I mean how could I ever do a review of it if I didn't, hey had to think of something to tell SoccerBoy. The outside is a light blue and on the inside pattern is stripes in blue, white, black and light brown. The sleeping bag is stuffed full of soft cotton, which as you may know, makes it really soft and comfortable. So much that it puts you to sleep.

So far, Soccerboy tried it out and loved it. He even stated, "Mom it's mine."

The girls both tried it out as they watched movies, "Oooh I like it, it's soft. Warm."

Every morning I toss it on the living room floor and the two youngest curl up inside it and watch Barney. If they aren't in it, it'll be quickly grabbed up by SoccerBoy or BalletGirl.
The hubby even stated he'll have to get the adult version since he goes out in the field. (training exercise for military folks) The kids like the idea of getting more that way we can go camping. Currently when it is warm we do go outside and camp, but normally we just use our own blankets. Today, I looked over to find Little A sleeping in it, even took a photo. You tell me this sleeping bag isn't loved.
Think your child would like one? They cost $59.50 and comes with its own storage bag and pillowcase that matches the bag. Soft bedding on the inside to keep it warm, just like Lands' End uses in their regular kids' bedding items.

Teacher Sales ads on Tests

A teacher that needed a bit more money, as we know they don't get paid really well as it is, tried making a bit of extra cash this holiday season by selling ad space on his tests. Yes, tests as in those things you give students. I guess this is one way to not only advertise but make sure you aren't waisting total white space.

"Tough times call for tough actions," he says. So he started selling ads on
his test papers: $10 for a quiz, $20 for a chapter test, $30 for a semester
final.

What's your opinion? Should this teacher be making money on the side while teacher the kids? Course you could look at it as he'll be placing this back in the class for supplies needed since the school only alloted him $120 for the school year for class paper. All I can say is he sure knows how to rake in the dough. Who's up for a pop quiz, I need diapers.

Throwing Snowballs

Little A experienced his first snowball this year, as you can tell by the picture he simply loved it. Only thing is he doesn't realize when his fingers are too cold. You can see where he begins to want in but since it is so much fun outside he just doesn't want to be left without the snow.

In the picture he was on the back porch with daddy and tossing a snowball at me. You can see he's just thrown it and is laughing. Kids are hoping to get more snow so they can sled, hubby is of course hoping no more as traffic will be horrible. Myself and snow, while it is beautiful I fall so it is hazardous to my health.

Got any pictures to share of your snow babies? I have another shot of him at www.babylune.com.

- Renee Simmons on No Time to Say I Love You- reminds you of just how important it is to stop and say those three little words.

Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Hey, you can't blame me for going out on Black Friday now can ya? What? Oh of course I did, a girl has to shop even if she doesn't normally. I mean when deals are slashed and you can get all those holiday gifts at lower prices then one can't really argue. I went with the two boys to Wal-Mart and the hubby took the two girls to Kohl's.

As we arrived at Wal-Mart we were amazed that there was no line. Why was there no line? They were letting people in as long as they didn't put in their carts or touch the items. That's right there was an invisible line around everything. Only problem was they didn't tell me. Imagine how embarassed I was when I got scolded by a worker. :( Instead of going back and putting it all up I put it all on a stack of dolls and parked my cart. While I waited by my precious stack for over 35 minutes I got called by the hubby.

Guess what? He was at Kohl's, he said inside was already wrapped around and that was for the check out line. Forget it, he was checking out Target. Course Target was outside but they decided to stick it out. He did get some great finds, but nothing off the Black Friday list. hehe.

In the end Wal-mart got crazy and it ended up being line to line or should that be cart to cart. It took over an hour to get through the line and we were one of the first. Did you do any black friday shopping? In our area two black friday shoppers were hit by a car. They are fine but still. WOW.

Today is Cyber Monday, I won't say what I bought as I have eyes near me. Maybe tomorrow, but I will say it was more tahn $50 and less than $100. Plus a bunch of movies that we'll be watching. Hopefully it gets here before Christmas. Did you find any Cyber Monday Deals? Stick around I'm going to be posting giveaways all week. Hope ya like.
