Star Wars Clone Wars Weekend
Over the weekend we had a Star Wars Clone Wars Party. No, it wasn't anyone's birthday but the new season (cartoon) of Star Wars Clone Wars begins next week and the company wanted to spread the word. I signed up to be a host at HouseParty and they selected me and sent me the goodies.
Like many parties, not everyone showed up, we competed with the town festival without realizing it. But or those that did show up they had a blast. SoccerBoy liked what he saw of the dvd (they gave us a DVD of the upcoming season plus other shows coming out) but the kids were too loud to watch the whole thing.

We also got posters they got to take home, glo sticks, stickers, tattoos and balloons. But the best was the Star Wars Clone Wars Force Action Lightsaber Vader
, which makes noise like the movie and lights up. Oh there is also a spring activated blade that pops the sword out.

Dial Complete Giveaway

I was recently sent two botles of the new Dial Complete Antibacterial soap (ours was soothing white tea scented) but it also has a new feature, at least to us it did. Now I won't lie, we've been using the Antibacterial soap for a while, but this one has a touch of lotion in it which makes your hands soft after using it.
Dial Complete has teamed up with The Life of a Homemom for their Campaign for Clean Hands, which is very important to instill in kids and have offered to give one lucky winner an entire case (8 bottles) of the Dial Complete hand soap.
Rules: A always you will have to leave a comment. The stickler is you must tell me what scent you'd like by visitig Dial's Site and tell me one way you encourage keeping hands clean. Simple enough right? Make sure to leave a working email.
The winner: The winner will need to contact me with his/her mailing address after I've posted, you'll have 24 hours to respond. I'll then need your mailing address which I'll give Dial Complete and they'll send you your case. Make sure in your comments you leave a working email.
Deadline: The winner will be announced Friday, October 3. You have until I announce the winner at 8 a.m. (central time) that morning. Good luck!

More giveaways are coming along with a ton of reviews, I just need a bit more time and scheduling on this computer. Hopefully, if all goes right I should have a computer by this weekend. Keep those fingers crossed for me as the librarians know my every move and I feel like I'm some type of spy or something. Not to mention trying to get all your posting done in a limited time and watching the clock just tick away.

Ringling Brothers Blog Tour
Do you remember going to the circus as a child? Did you ever get a chance to see a Ringling Bros Circus? These were my favorite, we only went to a few but they were a blast. I just loved watchig the acrobats, of course I was like the rest of the kids wishing to join them one day. In the meantime my favorite thing at the circus besides them was the pink cottony stuff, ya know the cotton candy. Yumm, it was soft and deliciously spun just to make it melt in your mouth and hot and freshly done. Not like these things you can buy in the stores these days. My father would treat us to a hot dog, soda and cotton candy then we'd all share a bag of popcorn during the show.
We'd watch in awe as they performed above us or laugh out loud at the funny things the clowns would do, including soaking us. It was hot anyways so we never minded. The circus reminds me of the simpler times in life when it really was family first in America, not all this rush rush rush.
I got a CD of the Ringling Bros and showed my kids, we got it through MomCentral. The kids loved it, enough to watch a second time. My daughter was worried the lions would eat the men in the show. BabyGirl wanted like the horses and elephants, she wants to be one to ride them and do neat stuff like that. BalletGirl wants to perform on the high wire, talk about no fear. Their brother, SoccerBoy loved watching the lions and the motorcycle performances. Course each one got a clown nose to play with from Ringling Brothers, I'll also give some of our upcoming party guests some noses.
Here's a list of dates they'll be in your town, we had to miss ours.:(
Grand Rapids, MI - Sept. 18-21, 2008
Denver, CO - Oct. 2-13, 2008
Boston, MA – Oct. 8-13, 2008

Chicago, IL - Nov. 6 - 30, 2008

Auburn Hills, MI - Nov. 12 - 16, 2008

Save-a-Lot Giveaway
Ya'll know I've just started using coupons so this giveaway was a really neat and fun one for me. I mean a place that always has GREAT deals and here they were offering me gift cards for their store to my readers. Not only was I getting introduced to them but I can give something back to my readers too.
How many of you can feed a family of four? Many of you can I'm sure, but how much does it normally cost? For me, we are a family of 6 and it can surely get expensive fast depending on what I buy and where I buy it at.
Save-A-Lot has decided to help you out on this, they even have an area where they list breakfast, lunch and dinner meal ideas for a family of four for under $20 bucks. I'm sorry you can't beat that. Well now not only do they offer this but they want to give a $20 GC to their store for 4 of my readers. So read below to find out what you need to do.
Rules: Answer one of the following two questions:
“What is your favorite grocery savings tip?” or “Tell us – how much does it normally cost you to shop for a week’s worth of dinner?”
I figure with the economy going down the dumps and gas prices along with milk, eggs, etc, all going up this could be a topic we can all use. Have fun. Don't forget to stop by Save-a-lot and check out their deals.
Deadline: September 30, midnight. I'll announce the winner on October 1st, the winner will be notified by email but keep checking back as some of you I believe send mine to the junk box. :)
Good luck!

Libby Blog Tour
Oh we recently got a package in the mail with some GREAT songs by Sara Evans in it but besides the songs we also go VEGGIES. You know the one thing most kids protest, thankfully mine actually welcome the gross green things.
With school recently starting many of us are wondering how we'll ever get the family back to the table. Am I right? Well there are ton of ways you can actually do this, in fact even before I got my package I was aiming at this. For instance I must make sure everyone gets to the table before we all head here to the library. For us this is easy since the kids aren't in sports and we are between college courses at the moment. But for many it is a struggle. My suggestion is first aim for AT LEAST once a week and this does not include the weekends.
Did you know that 61% of moms state that they don't eat meals with the family? It's true, there are sports, work, school, college, hanging with friends, etc that just tie up the day.
So as you can see you are not alone. What should you do? First head on over to Libby's back to the Table and check out what they have to say. There's a list of ways other families are bringing back their family together time. For my family we tend to go around the table listing what we did that day. One thing we enjoyed and one thing we did not. I love their #3 for reasons to do it:
Good Conversation Builds Confidence
Thanks once again to MomCentral for letting me take part in this. I've loved the music during dinner and the ideas have definitely sparked up the conversation at dinner time.

Responsiblity Tour
Liberty Mutal wants to know just how responsible you are. So why not jump on this tour bus and find out what some bloggers are saying. I had a rather lengthy post for this but my time is limited now. ::Sniff::Sniff:: But MomCentral told me all about this and I would love to do them justice as well as Liberty Mutual, so for now I'll quickly mention it and touch up on it more when I'm back fully online.
As a parent how do you teach your child about responsiblity? I know many of us give our children chores. But do we do them in front of our children as well? Remember the old saying, "Monkey see, Monkey do"? Keep in mind that when a child sees you do something they tend to copy so make a good example of yourself and be responsible, this is the best way to teach your child about responsiblity.
Liberty Mutal website has a ton of films that shows your child and you what it means to be responsible. Have your child watch and see if they can tell what is right and wrong? You may actually learn something by listening to what your child believes.
Stop by the Responsiblity Project and see what you think about it and discuss it on your blog. Don't forget to drop me a comment if you have a feeling towards this or blog about it. I must say that I LOVE Nell Minnow and have known her for a while, she also has a large variety of movie reviews for families.

The cord to my computer has died, it will no longer let me recharge. So I will be out for a few days, I can get it fixed on Thursday but in the meantime I'll be computerless. EEEEKKK! Keep sending those good vibes. Doc says I only had laringitis and couldn't determine what I had before it.
Why I love the Net?
I love the net because no one at the other end knows when you are sick or not. But hate all other forms of communication. For the past week I've battled a sore throat and cough with fever. I thought I was doing good, I'd done all the myths, you know the whole:
- pump yourself full of vitamins
- take halls
- apply VICKS
- stay covered
- sleep (well I tried that doesn't always work)
Three of my other kids got sick, one completely better by next day. Little A took a whole day, but their sister BabyGirl still has red cheeks, slight fever and starting to cough. Myself, haha, that's not even funny.
Yesterday I was suppose to conduct an interview by phone. (now you know why I hate all other forms of communication while sick) Obviously it didn't go well and I ended up having to ask if I could email them the questions, thankfully she was more than willing to do this. (Thanks again) As for me today, I can't talk at all, if I can achieve anything it is a low whisper as it hurt to talk. Now I have drank 3 gallons of orange juice, a bag of Halls Naturals (I thought both would do good), nothing has worked for me. If anything I'm only getting worse.
Not to worry I promised hubby if I get worse I will go to the doctor, but not worse yet. Before he left today he made us go to Walmart with him and buy stuff. He wanted me to make sure I could eat and drink something, thank goodness we've known each other for years, all I had to do was make a face or a hand signal and he knew what I was saying. I ended up with lots of liquids, soup, oatmeal and of course a ton of medicines. Hey, I tried all the natural stuff and it didn't work, time to bring in the big guns. Before heading off to work he said "no fighting, mommy can't talk and of course told me I need to stay under covers and get plenty of rest." He had considered getting Nitequell (sp) but I explained not with two kids. So here I am, thankfully can communicate online, but no voice to use....course ya don't need a voice on the net. I just love this world.

Sick in the House
EEEEK, everyone is getting sick in the house. Stay back, be warned, I've warned ya. Even though I've told the neighbor kids we are sick they keep knocking on the door. "Can such and such come out to play?"
"Ummm, they are sick."
"So they can't play?"
I'm confused and stare at them, "No they are sick. You want to get sick."
They look at me puzzled before I shut the door. I swear, doesn't anyone keep their "sick kids" inside these days. For kids not to understand that when kids are sick they can't play just blows my mind. Even as a kid we had to stay inside when we were sick, now I do that with my kids.
Well hopefully everyone will get better soon, the two oldest males (dad and SoccerBoy) are the only two not sick. BalletGirl looked it and sounded it this morning so I kept her against her will. Come on when we first moved out here they had us come get her because she had a slight fever. By slight I mean it was a 99, when she is normally a 98. There was no way she would go and have me walk up there to pick her up, it is hard enough to breathe now, can't imagine walking in this humid air. With two other sick ones to care after. Ikkk, going back into hiding.
