A Loving Moment
I'm shocked when I read the words, "My Wife is my Role Model." Wow, I'm flooded with emotion and tears streak down my face as I read all the things that he admires about me. Sure I know he loves me and he tells me he's proud from time to time but to read this presentation in which he'll be reading to his class is shocking. I do not have an emotional husband, this is the type of man that doesn't hold hands or show affection in public. Only indoors as that is what the military has taught him, yes we may no longer be military but he still has those thoughts. But this just did it all. He went against everything he ever says, he shared his thoughts and got sentimental.
Daddies out there, keep in mind that even though your wife may know she does love hearing the nice things about her and that you love her. Mommies out there, men love hearing this too, even if they are macho.

I'm Clumsy!
Later, once we moved into the house...I have short steps and wore my slippers down them. Slipped right down to the bottom, it seemed to have only hurt my heel but it still hurts, even now.
Yesterday, walking my kids back up the stairs after school my ankle did this weird thing and somehow slid out from under me. Ya know as a child I was always the "Dumb Blonde" always tripping over things and just being that blonde everyone liked to tell me all those stupid jokes. I thought that once I grew up, I'd at least outgrow the clumsiness. What's up? I even colored my hair once I got married to get the blonde out of me. I guess it never goes away.
Did You See the Oscars?

I watched it but was shocked to see that Transformers was only nominated but didn't walk away with anything. But only a few dresses seemed to be cute, many were plain, I'm guessing this was due to the short notice from the writers strike.

How Old Am I?

The other day SoccerBoy and I stayed out on the back porch (off and on due to the cold) to watch the Lunar Eclipse. Boy was it a sight to see and something I'd never miss, especially watching his amazement over it. I figure in a few years he'll be to busy to watch something as simple as this so I'll eat this type of chance up as much as I can. But imagine my shock as we finish watching and go back inside to his next question.
"Mom, I was reading and the next Lunar Eclipse won't be until 2012...will you be alive for that?"
Ummmm, how old does the kid think I am. I did do a quick math lesson with him and apparently he thought it was further away. Ummm, nope and I"m not THAT OLD. hehe

A Mozart in the Making
Instead he likes things that really teach or have a fast beat. Here are two of the things he likes. Course now if I can find a CD for the first one we'll be in business, but I think he likes the Video of it with the music. Eeek!
Gwendolyn, The Good Time Gang: Farm Animal Friends
Boy was that a catchy tune wasn't it? Now I'll have it in my head all day. What are some things your kids listen to in the morning or later in the day. Are they a fast beat or a slow beat? BabyGirl tends to watch things like Little Einstein's or something that has a soft and slow beat.
The other thing Little A likes is Your Baby Can Read Series and yes I really think he's learning to read. He's at least picking up the hand signals it shows. His favorite part is it the beginning. Let me see if I can find it on YouTube, be right back. Okay found it, he just loves Aleka.

Breakfast Breaks

First off we couldn't wait to try out the Breakfast Breaks. My kids have always loved lunchables and while these aren't lunchables they are just as easy as them. Once they came in the mail I had to hide them from my kids as I knew they'd break into them and I wouldn't get to see any expressions when I opened the Breakfast Breaks.
Oh wait, I don't think you know what these are. Okay, basically it's a breakfast meal that comes in a little box. (kind of like a lunchable but for breakfast, in fact that's what one of my kids called it) Inside is a box of cereal, cereal bar, fruit juice and your spoon, wipe, napkin.
BabyGirl got to try the Honey Cheerios and she loved it, I did have to switch out cereal bars as her favorite is anything close to pink. The other had red, which was strawberry. So she quickly gobbled the bar first, cereal and juice came next...course she wanted to know what we were having tomorrow. Eeek!
I had SoccerBoy try the other one which was Cinnamon Toast Crunch. He responded with the, "It's good, kind of like a lunchable but for breakfast." He then tried calling it a "breakfastable" which of course I quickly corrected. Wouldn't want him going to school telling everyone all about this neat little breakfast and giving them the wrong names.
As far as it went, we loved it, it's perfect for those in a rush whether you are a SAHM or a Working mom. Kids never seem to have time in the morning to eat, no matter how early ya wake them. These work perfect and all ya gotta do is pour the milk, or just let them.
Some Breakfast Break Info:
Cereal Choices: Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Juice: apple
sncaks: raisins, cereal bar (strawberry or apple cinnamon) or graham cracker.
Oh and I hear they have 25% nutrients needed to start the day off right. Originally these were suppose to be for schools but they realized how important these meals were and thoughg of us moms.
Breakfast Breaks gets my thumbs up.

Books I must Read
I find this really interesting and out of all honesty I hadn't really thought of doing this with him. But of course I'll jump through hoops to keep his interest in reading. Remember two years ago he wouldn't touch a book and now he's reading one a week. So here is my list of books:
The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan, now he just finished it (this did take him a while) and he is about to start on the second book, The Sea of Monsters. Next on the list, which he wants me to start Thursday is "Harry Potter #7." Yes, I know I should've read that by now but I never wanted the series to end and then we moved and it got packed. He says he may have me begin it in a week or two instead because he knows I read fast and he just started.
So how many of you have done this? What books did you read with your kid or after your kid?

Busy Dad Blog- Jim is a parent without a helmet, course aren't we all. Man it would be so much easier if parenting came with safety guards and a handbook. When Jim first launched his blog he promised himself that he would do an exclusive with the first person that ever asked. Thankfully for him it wasn't on diapers, breast pads or the pump. Instead he got the to chat all about Valentine's Day, read his blog to find out.

Recently he went to a Super Bowl party and smacked someone's hand too hard. He's learning a quick lesson on age, I can't even walk the stairs without cracking, I can't imagine smacking my hand against someone elses.
How about Two- I think this title says it all and now I hear he's expecting Baby Barron. Recently he found out his little one has RSV, man I hate that crap. Hope Squecker gets better soon.
Cynical Dad- What a great title, I feel so cynical at times. He's a father of a boy and a girl and trying to get through it. Read about how Dr.Seuss screwed up his life or figure out the illnesses or if you are smarter than a kindergartener.
Garry Conn- He started off strictly as a MMO blogger but has opened up his blog. He's decided to become personal, talk about being a dad and let us know the man behind the blog. Garry is father of three and expecting baby #4 later on this year. Congrats again Garry! Stop by and wish him luck and tell him stories about your fourth child. Anyone got any advice?

Mommy Time
When was the last time, you, yourself went out? I'm not meaning just a drive down to your local store to grab a gallon of milk. I'm meaning a trip to the movies, spa, book store, mall, etc.
For myself, it's been a LONG while. Granted two weeks ago I got my hair permed and it took 4 hours, however hubby and kids were right outside so I don't really count that. I can't tell ya when the last time I went out by myself was. Normally I have to take the youngest at least, otherwise I stay home. Or if I go out we all go out as a family.
Why is it different for a man? Men can go out when they choose, even at a whim. However if mom disappears flags go up, phones start ringing and missing alerts are sent out everywhere.
What is the difference between mommy time and daddy time? Can you tell me? When was the last time mom went out by herself? When was the last time dad went out by himself?
Labels: daddy time, mommy time, time off
Get a Life
But it hurt I think in more ways that were intended. See, when I asked what they meant I was reminded that I recently visited with them and they got this impression. Apparently all I did was talk about my kids and things I do at home. For those moms out there, especially stay at home moms what else is there to talk about?
Now before jumping to any conclusions let me tell ya about this visit:
I tried talking about all types of stuff but they had Guitar Hero 3 blaring in the background and honestly I can't play that silly game. Silly cause I can't play it, I love watching others. I went into the "adult room" and tried chatting it up with them. I tried these topics and got no where: internet, html, rss, reviewing products (this got some interested), politics, the latest news on the news, etc. No one seemed interested and I no longer lived in the area so didn't know the latest gossip. Instead I wanted to chat with everyone so I reverted back to talking about parenting. Everyone in the room had kids so I knew it was a safe topic.
Apparently that wasn't a good thing, for now this one person believes I have no life other than my children. The truth is, this person is right, my life is my children and I wouldn't change it for the world. I just hate the fact that they believe that is all there is to me and it isn't enough.
I've been going back and forth about this. I thought, hey, even all those topics no one else could chat with me. Has this ever happened to you? How did you feel? I love my children dearly and I could chat up a storm about them or anything else, however everything I know is either on tv, internet or in my home. Is that a problem?
Bone, Bones and More Bones
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled he's a book lover. But I have no clue what it is about this book. This morning, BalletGirl got a hold of the book and finished it in an hour. Someone please tell me what it is about this book.
A few weeks back I heard a mom and her kid going frantic when they couldn't find a "Bone" book. I had no clue what they were talking about, I know Magic Tree House, Harry potter and even Magic School bus. But a Bone I had no clue. It seemed that they found a whole aisle of the Bone book.
Bone has a lot of books in the series, it is (I think) a comic book written by Jeff Smith. I'm actually thinking of getting the series but was wondering if any of you knew whether Volume One

Husband's Parenting Advice
"No."
Confused I look at him, "Why not?"
He gets all matter-of-fact like on me and says, "On my way home someone was on the radio stating that a baby hears the word no over 1000 times in a month (or year). I don't want our son to hear that all the time."
Okay, we've had three other children before this, it has never messed them up. In fact they know the word no and if you say no they listen. Okay there are times they don't but isn't that all children?
"okay then, teach him not to slam his finger in the door without the word no."
He looks at me a bit confused and suddenly gets a look, he shifts the walker a different route to keep him from doing it. A minute later I ask him once again to teach our child again as he didn't listen to the silent no. He catches on and decides no really is a good word.

Pics of the Car Wreck

As you can see the car hit the van pretty hard, no clue on the damage the car went through. It sure was strange walking into the impound yard after hearing about the accident and seeing it for the first time.

My husband was making a left turn when a red car ran a red light and slammed into him.

Punxsutawney Phil sees Shadow

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on this breezy Groundhog Morning, which means 6 more weeks of winter. Who has already had snow this year? Cold weather? Rain? Gear up guys and gals, you've got a few more to deal with.
It's been some really weird weather lately and colder than it has in many parts. Ever wonder what this summer will be like? Too bad the groundhog can't tell us that. But we do know that Punxsutawney Phil and his ancestors have been predicting the weather since 1887, which makes it the 122nd Anniversary. Congrats to Phil for being a great weather man. I just wish he wouldn't have seen that shadow.

Okay, it's Friday ya'll so don't forget to head on over to Blog About Your Blog and Casual Keystrokes. Actually Char is having another giveaway at Casual Keystrokes, you can win a spiffy looking purse. Shhh, don't tell my son I used that word, he'd say I'm old.
Speaking of being old, I decided it was time to give myself a new look, after all I just turned 30 and growing my hair to my bottom deserved a treat. So, I chopped it off haha, but I permed it and I LOVE it. It's easier to take care of, I can leave it down without havig to toss it in a pony tail and it doesn't get stuck in the door all the time. What do ya think?

Had to add the picture, just look at his expression.
