Hold Your baby with No Arms

Yes, the title may be a bit misleading since in both of these pictures I've got my arms around my son but there aren't many times you'll catch me with my arms away from him if he is near me. I got the chance to review the baby slings called, "SlingLings" and I can tell you that not only are they great but the customer service is on top. I ordered my sling and waited for it to arrive, however it did not fit. (a bit too big) The customer service told me to simply place it back in the bag it came in and send it back and they'd send me another one. (you do pay to ship it back but they do replace it for ya)

I waited for it to arrive in the mail and once it did we went everywhere with it. If I went somewhere with Little A, so did the bag with the sling in it....sometimes without the bag.

The sling comes in a small zip up bag with a handle, which makes carrying it easy. Of course if you dont' want to bring everything, toss the sling into your purse or diaper bag (very light weight and fits perfectly) and pull it out whenever you need it.

Our sling was the Khaki padded Stretch Twill, which goes with practically anything and if the man in the family really wanted to wear it he could. There are over 50 different types to choose from, some women and some neutral. While some babies like to be tucked into the sling, others do NOT. My son seems to be one of those that don't, as you can see by the pictures. He loves the Kangaroo pouch position you see on the side and the hip one. I do find that that Kangaroo feels more secure and I tend to drop my arms more. Remember, this is coming from a woman that always carried her children (I have four) in a stroller or a backpack carrier. Instead of digging out the stroller to go down the block I simply carry him around in the sling and off we go.

If you are looking for a baby sling, check them out and see which one will match your wardrobe. Carrying a baby is as natural as anything and it can go just about anywhere...unlike a stroller.

Raleigh in the Fall

I love North Carolina in the Fall, everything looks so beautiful, it isn't like the desert where is just gets windy. Out here the big, beautiful green trees turn multiple shades and there are so many different events. For instance, out here we will have the Fall Festival, Pumpkin Pickin,

In Raliegh, North Carolina already this month they had the BugFest at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. In October there will be the Natural History Halloween and the Fossil Fair. My son I know would love to attend both of these, while we were traveling from California to NC he had begged to go to the Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils. It ended up being closed due to a snowstorm that year. We really should head up there this fall.

Now last Fall, not only did my son go up to the State Capital with his school he then went to watch the Hurricanes play (hockey). He went to the hockey game with his sister, dad and grandpa and boy did they have fun. I was told it was very cold inside though and that they were glad I made them take jackets even though it wasn't cold here.

Things I'd like to see this year are the: 2007 N.C. State Fair(where Trace Adkins will be performing), the Toy Fair, NC Shakespeare Festival which is a favorite of mine and they'll be performing A Comedy of Errors. As you can see there is a LOT to do in NC, especially in the big cities like Raleigh.

Since I'm already talking about it I should tell you about their giveaway. I mean who would want a FREE Raleigh Getaway?

Register for free to win:
- One night accommodations for two at the Courtyard by Marriott Raleigh Crabtree Valley
-$25 gift certificate to Bloomsbury Bistro
-Free VIP admission for two to Rum Runners
-2 tickets to the North Carolina Theatre
-2 tickets to the N.C. Museum of Art’s Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism
-2 tickets to Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences

If you are looking for a Fall Getaway, North Carolina is very beautiful this time of year and has many attractions from Raliegh to its beaches. To find out about more events going on in Raleigh check out "City Life, Carolina Style."

She Cut her Hair!

BabyGirl cut her hair!!!! Yes, the 4-year-old found a pair of scissors and cut her hair. When I say her hair I'm meaning the sides and the bangs. It was already to her shoulders since last year her sister decided if she cut her sister's hair we would get both of the hair done.

This is a little girl that has a long, narrow face so I'm not really sure what type of hair style looks good. I'm hoping what I've done doesn't look too strange, it does look different though. The once long hair, that has never had bangs now does. I guess that could be a good thing, especially now that I don't have to yell, "Bangs" every few minutes.

Bangs always meant move them or I chop them.

The hair style is something like Dakota Fanning had when she was younger with shoulder length hair and bangs. She's excited to look like the "Charlotte's Web girl" as she calls her.

Oh and why she cut her hair...."Remember mom, you cut your hair to make it longer." Yes, I have stated this when they asked why I once cut a tiny bit off my hair. ie, split ends. She believes tomorrow her hair will be at her bottom. Boy is she in for a shock.

We have a Winner!

First, let me say thank you all for joining in on the fun. I hope to have more giveaways in the future and hope ya'll will join again and maybe get a friend to join as well.

Hmmm? What's that? Oh the winner?

::Drumroll::

Lace

When we use the stroller it usually ends up being a dumping ground for bags, packages, snacks, jackets and shoes. There is no place for the kid who was supposed to be traveling in it to sit, unless they sit under the pile or on top of the pile. I don't know if this is because there is no storage basket under the stroller or if we need to travel with a luggage cart.

I have blogged about the contest and linked to the contest and chicco

Congratulations Lace, looks like you'll no longer need to set your child up on a pile of stuff. You have until Monday night to contact me.

SCAM ALERT: I've been hit (HELP)

We found out today that our account was hit by a check that we never issued, it was being sent to "Mazumah" however I never sent it. It appears to be related to GreenZap, if you are a member of this company you may want to CANCEL/CLOSE that account NOW. I'm not kidding, in 2005 I signed up with them and totally forgot about them, supposibly they were going to be better than paypal.

Not the case

Report: Mazumah - Greenzap - Mipayment - Damon Westmoreland

It seems that they try to see if you notice, the first check seems to be for $19.95 and the following for the same amount. If you don't catch it or just ignore it they'll try the following month. At that point they try to double the amount. Yes, I'm writing this as I find out info.

An email that appears with the name support@mipayment.biz

Mazumah - GreenZap Illegal Unauthorized Withdrawl of Funds from Personal Checking Account Never Heard of This Company Internet

Okay I've spotted a pattern, they are some how going in order. See my check number was 1024 and it hit my acct on the 21st. there was another lady (Peggy) in Alabama who was check number 1020 and it was hit on the 17th. See the pattern? There would've been three other people between us, maybe they don't even know yet.

Is there any way one of you may be able to offer me advice, or maybe explain how to research this company for emails, addresses, phone numbers, etc? Please help and don't say don't give out info, I figured that one.

Here is some advice I found: What do do

Teach Them Magic!

Every child loves to learn a few magic tricks here and there. I mean what better way to impress your friends then to make juice disappear from a cup or multiply bunnies. Right? It's all fun. When I got to review, Marshall Brodien's Magic Show from Cadaco we were very excited. SoccerBoy has always tried learning magic from the books at the library or a few sites on the internet. But to get this HUGE box of nothing but magic tricks, he was extremely excited.

But I have a confession to make, I too was impressed, in fact I opened it up first and learned a few tricks before they got home. Hey, mommy is never cool so I just had to show them I knew magic. I tried doing a few of the tricks but couldn't figure them out, course I emptied the whole box and found the 100 tricks book and learned them right away. It was a lot of fun, I was able to show the kids I could make two bunnies become a family of five. They wanted to try but weren't sure how and couldn't do it. I told them I wanted to try a few more before they did it.

Tip: for those of you that don't do well reading books, the dvd is actually very easy to learn from. Watch as Marshall Brodien shows you magic tricks and then the secret to how to do them.

See, us "old dogs" can learn new tricks. I even made a penny become a dollar in change. That was fun, especially the look in their eyes...except of course when they heard the ice cream truck and I didn't have money. "Mom, just throw a few pennies in the box and you will." Yeah, talk about it biting me. I know a few magic tricks but not that many.

My kids took over around 15 minutes of me doing a few tricks on them and letting them try it without the book for a while. We played a lot with it. They loved sliding boxes into the long rectangle and having mommy make more than one come out, or making them disappear.

Before you think this is just for older kids, even BabyGirl, age 4, was able to do these. (The site does state 7+)So if I really had to put an age on it I'd say 4+ of course they'd need a parent to read them the "How to" part of it but they can do it. Her favorite trick is the cups and balls, this is where balls mysteriously disappear and reappear under the cups.

As for the other two: SoccerBoy LOVES the deck of cards and their tricks, not to mention he loves playing cards even without magic tricks. But he loves to bring those Aces to the top of the deck. BalletGirl loves the long rectangle and boxes, can't say that I blame her though..it's one of my favorites.

Inside our box was:
The Jail escape, magic mystery deck, block through wand, cups&balls, multiplying bunnies, production box (makes money), disappearing juice, the wand (of course), plastic thumb, a few colored blocks, ink tab, curved strip, crazy coin maker, bunnies (fake of course), dvd, Book of tricks, etc.

As you can see there is a lot of fun items to play with, however even the box has a few things to teach you. There's a "Did You Know" side, ie, "age 17, Marshall Brodien had performed 20 shows...." I had no clue. So, if you have a child that has expressed an interest in magic, this is the kit to get him/her. We loved this box, actually we are still having fun with it as I type this.

There are all types of magic kits to choose from, there's the Spectacular Magic Hat™, the Beginner's hat, 100 Trick Ultimate Magic Suitcase with Performance Table and many more. Cadaco isn't just a magic shop though, it has fun crafts and games for your family as well. (look for more reviews in the future) Remember, Christmas is just around the corner.

Online Halloween Costume Contest

Online Halloween Costume Contest

I know ya'll love my giveaways and this isn't really a giveaway but it is a contest where you can win some amazing prizes. All ya got to do is sign up, draw or post a picture of yourself in a halloween costume for review. Read all of the rules here.

Of course I know ya'll are all for the prizes so here it is: $100 credit to Star Costumes, 2 three day passes and $1000 for travel & lodging.

Halloween has always been my favorite time of year, I mean you get to go around in some cute, scary, sexy or just plain stupid costumes for an entire day and not get in trouble. You can wear things that you'd never wear in front of your friends and it is okay. Last year I actually painted my belly (remember I was pregnant) into a giant eyeball. The year before I was a She-Devil and boy I loved that one. As you can see there isn't a year that I haven't dressed up...well maybe this one but that's all due to not knowing what our future holds. My husband always dresses up as a pirate or anything in gothic. What will you dress up this year as?

Are you like us? Do you like to dress up for Halloween or have a favorite costume idea in mind? Take a picture of it or find an old one and submit it to the site. Don't have one? That's okay draw it.

This is a sponsored post.

Yes, I love frogs, so much I had a tattoo of a frog wearing a jester's outfit put on my back.

It's Raining, it's Pouring...

I'm going a little stir crazy, all week it's done nothing but rain and while I LOVE the rain I also get bronchitis at the littlest drop that comes on me. Anyone go through this? As a child I could play in it but not since I've been on the east coast. Don't tell me it's age, I know I'm old. lol

Today we had my FIL come visit, it was a HOT day...muggy actually but perfect for kids to play outside in. Wouldn't you know we all went inside to chill out and within 30 minutes the sky went dark, and it is now POURING down on us. Thanks to some review products I got in the mail today (which I"ll post later, not today) they've been dancing and singing for the last half hour.

The computer seems to work more... wonder if everyone quit using radio near me? haha, I still don't believe that.

As for the kids, they are all doing great. SoccerBoy is making all A's on his spelling tests, which is a HUGE improvement if you remember the last few years. BalletGirl actually got selected to be in the drama team at school and will be in a play in December. BabyGirl lost a tooth and is excited about preschool. Little A is at the point of wanting to crawl all over the floor, but due to having a tile floor he cannot. I do have good news I'll post on that later.

Well thought I'd catch ya'll up on life. Dont' forget to enter my stroller giveaway.

Have you heard of the rookie challenge? If not you may want to head over and sign up. Every week there is a winner and the winner gets US$ 1000.00 from MyWallSt.net. Chances are if you are reading my blog you could use a little cash, heck I think anyone would take $1000 in cash. Am I right?

I bet your ears are perked now and there's a good reason, 1000 of them actually. So if I've got you hooked why don't you head on over and read the rules. Before you ask I am no fool and have already signed up. Imagine all the diapers that would buy..not to mention toys, books, wipes, stroller, playpen. Oh ya'll get okay I'll stop now.

Now if you are really interested you can register for the rookie challenge and get a free hat out of the deal and a chance at the money. You might be asked some personal info like if you've invested, I never have so I passed all that but I did need to put my address down.

Noah's Pals- Batteries Not Required

I recently reviewed Noah's Pals from Noahspals.com, these are handpainted animals that are perfect for collecting. Not only that but these animals will get your children to use their minds instead of pushing buttons, let your child actually get creative. That's right, no batteries, no buttons, it's all imagination.

Inside each package is one set of that animal (each seperately wrapped) along with their own ID card. The ID card states their name, height, Edition number, length, weight, where they can be found and/or type of enviroment as well as what family they are in and their paw print.

We got a set of Cows, Llamas, Deer, Dogs and Noah (with Derek & Delilah)
The Cow card states Holstein, the names of these two cows are Clayton & Carol and they live in the grassland. To learn more about these cows you'd have to order them, I'm not telling all their secrets. One thing that I loved was that the neither cow looked the same in markings which is perfect with a regular cow since they don't either.

Besides being a sturdy, homemade toy, this collection is a great eduational tool to teach your children about animals, geography, types of land, etc. Another bonus is each one looks realistic, which is hard to find in a lot of toy stores.

There were a few things that need to be watched:

The age recommendation is for 3 year olds and up, but due to a few items I think it should be raised to 5. Unfortunately for us Carol (the Cow) lost one of her ears when she fell off the couch and onto the tile floor. This is a warning, as I haven't seen this posted anywhere else so it could've just been a fluke thing. I did tell Steve and Janet and they thanked me and told me they would definitely look into it so it didn't happen again.

Some of these are NOT for young kids, as they do have sharp pieces and the doves that come with Noah (Derek and Delilah) are really tiny which can pose as a choking hazard.

On a more positive note: If you collect all 40 animals Caboodle! will send you surprise. But don't think you can find these in just any store, these are only available online, ebay or in gift shops...which makes the collecting even more fun. The first 40 will earn you a Dodo bird, and every time you collect items you earn points that you can later cash in for prizes.

Oh and they pay for ALL shipping and handling and I know ya'll LOVE that feature. My daughter already has a list of the next animals she wants...elephants (her favorite animal), giraffe, chimpanzee, she also stated pigs but I don't think they have that one yet.

Collect yourself some Noah's Pals, you've got endangered, vulnerable or common pals.

Homemom3: Chicco Stroller Giveaway

Ya'll have probably noticed all my giveaway listings this month, "Chicco is doing a 30 strollers in 30 days giveaway" for the month of September. All you need to do is fill out a little survey. Just this past Thursday Giveaway list had several bloggers listed on it that were announcing Chicco's 30 strollers in 30 days giveaway. Homemom3's Chicco Stroller Giveaway Rules:

1. Sign Mr.Linky & leave a comment (because sometimes Mr.Linky doesn't work) about funny, sad, oops moments, etc stories about your stroller.

ie, We got a stroller that has a wheel pop off at the worst of times. Another could be about the time you had to walk home and it poured down on you, only to have someone offer you a ride home and after you got everyone in their van ya'll realized that there was no room in it for the stroller. hehe yes both have happened to me. Or maybe you don't have one and you really need one.

Movie Surprise

Ya'll know I watch movies as much as I can, especially with the $1.49 per movie machine down the street from my house. Well every Tuesday all the new ones go in the machine, so yesterday I decided to hop over there before picking up BabyGirl...don't worry I wasn't late.

There were three new movies and none were taken yet, Lucky You, We Are Marshall and The Condemned. Honestly none of them seemed to be something I wanted to watch, but I did remember wanting to see it when it first came out. I got all three as I knew my hubby would want to watch the other two. Lucy You looked like a poker one, which is a favorite of his and The Condemned looked like a war movie. I haven't seen previews for those two so I was going off the cover. Once they popped off I grabbed a Fuze someone told me to try (blogging) and went to pick up the little one.

About 30 minutes later the hubby came home for his lunch. He brought me home a surprise. "Guess what, I got you some movies." He said smiling like a canary. I smirked, realizing what three they probably were and asked which ones.

He named off the same ones I had just got. hehe. Yep we bought each other the same three movies (rented.) He told me The Condemned look like a thriller/horror, Lucky You had a chick in it he thought I liked and he remembered me wanting to see Marshall.

Well at least we were thinking along the same lines, too bad the machine doesn't give refunds for renting the same movie.

Dog Tags for Kids

I was asked if I'd like to review dog tags and jumped at the chance. No, not because I have a dog but because I actually thought they were dog tags like they use in the military but for kids. When I did discover what they were I decided we'd try them anyways.

With these dog tags you do the whole name and address and get to pick a design that goes on the side. I picked what was already there and decided on the green since it would go to BalletGirl and that is her FAVORITE color. I had her name, address and phone number on it and decided it would go to something that belongs to her.

It's a smooth, green dog tag with the information on top. It's not indented, I know some are. With our tags we got a chain like you get with marine dog tags, but ours wouldn't snap together so daddy went and bought her a new one. She's very excited.
This is the picture of it on her backpack. See parents you can make sure it comes back to ya if they forget it in the cafeteria. Another thought was letting her wear it as a necklace but she liked it on her backpack better. What do you think? WHile it may be for dogs you can use it to label your child's things or first week of school to wear in case they get on the wrong bus.

Amazon has an Unbox now

I just saw that amazon now has an amazonunbox. But how do you put them in your sidebar, does anyone know? I like some of these movies, but not all of them. What movies have you seen lately? There is a reason I ask that, watch my posts today for a laugh.

My House is being Watched

No, I'm not sure how much, but the neighbor told me yesterday afternoon that they chased someone away from my house the night before. Here is the scenario, tell me how you would feel.

One person stood on my back porch for several minutes looking in my home. Another person kept looking into the living room window and then would sit on my front porch, kind of antsy. The third person, yes there were three men doing this, stood in the drive. I'm guessing he was the look out. Each one wore all black. Were they waiting for someone? Were they there to break-in, were they waiting for everyone to go to bed and that's why they kept looking in, or did they think that my hubby happened to be in Iraq? We will never know, my neighbor realized no one (as in any of us) had opened the door and something was up so he went outside. When he came outside all three booked it. I'm guessing they weren't there to talk with any of us.

This all took place some time after 10 p.m., of course this was another night I went to bed early...figures right. But maybe it was a good thing. No, I didn't get much sleep last night as I kept picturing someone coming in....well not just one someone but three.

2 Weeks Soda Free

Well, I've made it on the quest not to drink soda. I must admit it is very hard, especially if you are eating out and are waiting for that refill on tea and it never comes. But the hubby's soda keeps breaking those bubbles in front of you. It looked so good but I didn't cave. So folks I've made it two weeks. Don't worry I'll stop telling ya'll once I hit a month.

I've noticed I have more energy though, that or I'm imagining it. I did try two new drinks....well new to me.

Vitamin Water and Fruit2o

Have you tried them? Vitamin water I like the red ones, one had apple with something and the other dragonfruit. The Fruit2o will take some getting use to (strawberry), but I'm going to stick with them. Yes, I still drink my Lava Lizard, SOBE drinks, but I would eventually like to get off all the sugar drinks and feel this would be the best way to do it.

Anyone know of any other drinks that would be good. No AIDS as I don't drink them...lemonade, koolaid, etc.

LaLa Natural's Baby Rattles

I have to admit, this time around I actually didn't get our newborn a rattle. Well, the truth is all those plastic rattles tend to break or stop rattling after a while. But a few weeks ago I got two rattles in the mail from LaLa Natural, one was made of wood while the other was more of a washcloth. They make rattles you can feel safe about giving to your child.

SAGE CREEK - Natural Wooden Mini Rattle, does make a lot of noise that will interest your infant. I love the fact he can put his mouth over it without worrying about splinters or lead paint. But I do worry about him hitting himself in the head. He likes to swing things around a lot. It's a very beautiful wooden rattle.

He loves putting his fingers through the bars and holding on to it. This rattle is easy for him to hold, which makes less crying because I don't have to pick it up constantly. The first time SoccerBoy saw his younger brother with the rattle he got upset, "Mom, he's going to get splinters." Yes, he's very protective, but I made him feel all over it and he saw how the maple had made it so there would be nothing to hurt his little brother with. This one definitely made Big Brother's list of high fives.

The "KEPTIN Jr's Sweet Rattle", a rag doll rattle is my favorite, I think it is suppose to resemble a puppy with long ears. That's what I think it looks like anyways, this is Little A's favorite rattle out of the two. Your baby can suck on any part of this rattle with no fear. My son loves the knots as he is constantly teething, which ya'll already know. The rattle is much quieter than the wooden one, but it is so cute.

Don't you think he looks cute? Before worrying about the price these are actually in the lower price range. I remember when my first son was born everything "natural" was always expensive, but LaLaNatural makes sure they keep their prices low. This would make the perfect gift for a newborn or someone expecting. There are a lot of different items to choose from at LaLaNatural which include organic cloth diapers, rattles and more. Check them out to see if there is anything that'll make your list.

Movies I Rented Tonight

Ya'll know every week I rent movies, so here is what I rented today. :) I'll let ya know if any are good. But if you've seen them please speak up in the comments.

Abe and Bruno - This is for the kids, BabyGirl begged me for it. No clue what it is about, but the cover showed a giant gorilla, three kids on bikes and the woods behind them. I'm very curious about this one. Any reviews of it?

The Tomb - (mine as are the rest) The cover showed a woman in a tomb/coffin. Eeeek! The back (in my own words) A group of people captured by a puppetmaster wake up in a tomb. Some are fatally wounded and others aren't so much, those that survive will learn quickly that only one is meant to actually live.

Of course since the new Fall Season is coming on tv and I happen to blog over at TV Bender. So I just had to get these.

House, M.D. Season Three Disc 3 Ya gotta love this guy.

(I got hooked on it since the Season 3) lol. After seeing the crash with Marissa and Ryan at the end of Season 3 I just have to watch this one to see where it left off.

Review: Life Coach Clay Nelson

Honestly I normally don't listen to self-help tapes, but I was sent a life coach CD by Clay Nelson last month. Now I had to wait a while to actually listen to it because the kids dumped my speakers too many times and .... well let's just say they needed replaced. No longer could I stick my finger inside the tiny speaker to get it to come back on. (yes I know dangerous)

The CD was actually very inspiring and entertaining, it wasn't dry like a lot of self-help tapes. Clay had me laughing at the very beginning.

It's a 3 CD Disc set which cover:
1 Creating Your Purpose
2 How to Let Fear Serve You
3 Commitment

1 In this he will tell you what his mission statement is and how it helps him. He will then walk you through how to make your own and before you try, remember you can't choose something you can fix. No, I want to lose weight, quit smoking, read more, etc. Trust me, you'll want to write your own right away. I still haven't been able to find something that is JUST right for me. I think I'm close though.

2 I believe we all deal with these issues in one form or another. Heck, ever been afraid of something so much it prevented you from doing something you wanted. I have, I'm scared of heights, bridges, closed in spaces. I've never been to Emerald Isle because I'm afraid to drive myself over the darn bridge because it is so high and above water. Fear of asking for that raise, like a friend and I learned, all you can do is ask and they can either say yes or no. It's not going to kill you right? So from now on I ask, I don't let that part of the fear stop me. Now if I could get totally over it and drive myself over that bridge. I think that'll take baby steps though.

3 Commitment is a hard one for some, while others find it very easy. But try using commitment when tied to your mission statement.

Wanna get inspired? Tune in to his radio show every Wednesday at 2 p.m. Pacific Time. AM 1290 If you are down in the area, on September 15 he will be having a workshop in the Santa Barbara area. Head on over to his website for further details.

Gossip Girl: A New Fall Show

Do ya'll ever get addicted to shows? Believe it or not when OC came out I refused to watch it as it just didn't look like something that would appeal to me. Course hubby came back from Iraq and had got addicted to OC the series and had all the DVDs so I watched them...the first two seasons that is. I haven't watched them in over a year now so I was shocked when I saw them in the movie rental and had to grab season three. I'm hooked, I love the guy that created OC. Kind of like a modern version of Saved by the Bell.

Well the same OC creator, Josh Schwartz has created a few new shoes. One is Gossip Girl, where she (the main character) will use her blog to spread gossip. Of course, this is more modern then I could've imagined. I don't even think OC used text messages. hehe. I do love to share my gossip with my readers, so I can see how this could come to play in a new series. I mean with high schoolers using myspace and everything else it is very common. It should be a good series.

Gossip Girl is once again upper class high school girls, but this time instead of the beaches of California they are in New York. It'll deal with all types of teen situations from dating, drinking, sex, smoking, drugs, etc.

Will you be tuning into Gossip Girl on The CW this fall? If you will or are interested it begins September 19, 2007. I know I can't wait for next week to watch all those new shows and of course some old ones.

Are there any shows ya'll are waiting to watch?

Bad Mommy Moment

I had a bad mommy moment today and have been hesitant to write about it. But I've finally come to the decision that I can't be the only mom that has done this or will ever do this, I'm going to blog it.

Today, I was late picking up my preschooler (BabyGirl). I can't believe I was late, I've never been late. In fact, I'm the type of person that would rather not show up somewhere if I knew I'd even be 5-10 minutes late. So this isn't common for me and I have been hitting myself over the head and in the heart with it ever since.

While both my hubby and Jo have told me it was an accident and can happen to anyone I feel a bit better. But I've hurt as well, feeling bad about what I've done and thinking if I'd paid more attention to the time I wouldn't have been late.

So to you moms out there that have forgot the time and picked your child up late, got a call from the school because you were late or somehow forgot your child somewhere. I know the feeling, the panic when you realize what you've done, the shame you feel when you pick them up and everyone is staring at you and thinking what an awful mom you are and the relief to have her/him in your arms smiling at you and saying can we go home now. Yes, she was not upset, she was happily playing with a toy and eating her Fizzix. Please remember you are not alone and it does happen.

I'm going offline now to relax, it's been a very stressful afternoon.

(that is not my eye, it is a pic I found on google images)

I Did It! (1 Week)

Well folks I've made it for one week without any soda. Boy has it been hard too. Actually with the support of my husband it hasn't been very hard but when we walk into a store I still have the erge to run and grab myself a Pepsi or a Rootbeer. Currently I'm letting him run into the stores, but he's bringing me out my Lizard drinks. My dad would really laugh at that because as a kid I was always called, "Lizard." Shhhh, no ya'll can't call me that.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one cutting themselves off, it seems many people try this. (Which I expected) I love my comments and see that others went to drinks like I did. How many of ya'll hate water? This is one thing I've always hated, in fact I dehydrated very easy as a child and young adult. So don't worry I do know the risks and am drinking water as well. I did see many comment on putting lemonade stuff in my water or something. The problem with that....I hate putting any form of powder drink mixes in my drink. I've hated koolaid and anything like it since I was a child.

So see, it can be done. I've went one week without and I'm not stopping now. I'm hoping that I can compeletely go off of soda and drink juices/waters/teas/etc. Would ya'll like to join this challenge?

Kid Books that Don't Tear!

I recently got my hands on two books published by Cedar Valley Publishing they are:

Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! & Let's Get Ready for First Grade!

My favorite thing about the book, besides what they teach is the fact that they don't tear...at least not easily if they do. These books have been (to my horror) dropped, slid across the floor, stuck in amazing spots in the car, scratched, spit upon (baby drool), and even sat on. But they are all still in tact. Most books that have been through this much would not. While the First Grade one does have a small dog ear on the front cover that is the only thing wrong with it. Another thing I learned is if you have a wipe off marker your child can write on the pages and it does come off.

Off to the reviews:

BabyGirl loved both books, but her favorite is of course the "Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! " book. The pages she liked the best were the hand page, which shows the left hand on one page and the right on the other. Each finger is labeled their name and it is very colorful. She also liked to name her body parts so that page was another favorite, but I think this upcoming week we will work more on the Upper Case Letters of the Alphabet page because she didn't know any of them when we went to Preschool Orientation. (she did know the lower case though, most of them)

BalletGirl said that she thought she was too young for the books because they were more for her sister. Keep in mind this little girl was a bit advanced last year in 1st Grade, so she may be right. But her favorite pages from "Let's Get Ready for First Grade! " were: food groups page and the internal organs. However BabyGirl is constantly convincing BalletGirl to read the "Let's read a Story!" page to her.

My review of both books: At the end of each book is a parent page where the author gives parents tips on how much sleep their child should get, or how to help them learn to read, etc. The beginning of each book has a "what your child should know" type of section stating dress themselves, use the toilet, print first name, etc. Ya already know how I felt towards the books themselves but the content inside is invaluable. This is perfect for the homeschool parent or the one that sends their child to school. Oh and the colorful pages will keep your child entertained and going back for more.

You can order the books through CedarValleyPublishing or through Amazon. Each book is $15, but well worth it. It's kind of like purchasing a giant workbook.

P.S. If Stacey or Linda (the authors) are ready this will there be a 2nd grade or a 3rd grade book in the future?

I want a Grandfather Clock!

It all bagan as a child when my grandparents had a small one in their house. No it wasn't these really nice big ones but a simple, small clock. That clock would spark something in me that would never be filled, at least not unless I'm able to find that perfect one.

The chiime was so loud you could hear it through the entire house, course the house was small too. Now there are many different ones that I would like but that doesn't mean they'd fill the void. I did find a site that actually has a ton of Grandfather Clocks whether they are old or new age. They have even created a blog for it and I must say I enjoyed reading all about the different Grandfather Clock Heads that are out there and I like the round ones best now.

For instance I do like Howard Miller Cherish clocks because of the cherry color and it would hold my breakables. Did you know they even have something called a Grandmother Clock? I had no clue and must say the clock reminds me of the clock in the Disney story, Beauty & the Beast (Belle). Honestly I think the Grandmother Clocks are more my taste, I love the Vercelli and many other designs they have.

If I were to get any clock it would go right in the Living Room/Computer room so I could look at it all day. Oh I'm also a sucker for Cookoo Clocks, shhhh, don't tell anyone. If you've ever wanted one call grandfather clocks at 1-800-4clocks.

I'm Cut Off!

That's right I'm cut off, actually I cut myself off. Hmmm? What's that? haha. No, we aren't talking about sex, but soda. Yeah I know, but I really did mean soda. My friend, Jo told me she'd like to try going without soda for one week. I told her I'd do it with her so on Monday we both quit drinking soda. I'm still going without it.

What have I learned?

So far I've discovered a few new drinks and that I still HATE water. The drink is SoBe...it has a Lizard on the bottle. Lizard Lava Strawberry Daiquari and before anyone thinks of slamming me it's alcohol free. :P so there. My other drink is tea or Mistic Kiwi Strawberry flavored.

Have you tried going without soda for a week? How did you do? I hear ice cold water actually helps with losing weight. Anyone know about this?

Morphing BabyGirl!

There's some new computer software and I must admit it is a lot of fun. While I couldn't figure out how to get two pictures to morph into one, like if you and your husband put your pictures together it would show what your kids would look like. Instead I created a short 10 sec video on BabyGirl growing from a little pixie into this little preschool. I know all you moms will understand that feeling, it's like it happen right beneath you without you ever knowing. One minute you were feeding her, changing her diapers and teaching her to walk and the next she wants to do it all by herself and teach you a thing or two. Am I right?

Either way this will definitely put a smile on your face and kill some time while you wait for your little one to come home. I think next time I"ll morph the hubby and I together and see which kid came out looking like the one that emerges. Sounds fun doesnt' it? Why don't you try it out. Head over to Morpheus Photo-Morpher and download the free trial. Have a bit of fun and see if it is something you'll like.

I've seen other morphs and so far this is the only video like one I've found. But I think it is rather neat how it'll collapse into another picture. Watch as the sides fold up and the baby gets squished into a little girl. In case the picture below doesn't work here is the link Watch BabyGirl Morph into a big kid If you do it let me know I'd love to hop on over and view it. Hmmm, I wonder if this is something like a police station uses when trying to figure out the looks of a child?

She's Going Today!

I'm not going to lie, I woke early today and by 5 a.m. I wanted to wake her up but realized what a pain she'd be if I did. I did spy on her for a while, I love watching my little ones sleep and knowing all to well that she would no longer be that little one anymore in a few hours reached me. Here she was, the one that is so indendant she really has never "needed" me for play or anything to that nature. I know without a doubt that she'll be fine today and will mix and mingle with the best of them. But at the same time this is my cyber-shopping buddy, my hugging monster, etc. I will miss her during those short three hours that she is not home.

I woke her at 6:30 instead and already had a warm bubble bath prepared for her, which she loved. Right now her two older siblings and herself are all in the game room having a ball. They are completely ready and waiting for me to actually get dressed so I can take them for breakfast.

It'll be strange here today, but maybe that is why the hubby took off the next two weeks. I do know that this afternoon I'll get the biggest hug, which makes it all better.

Okay ya'll I'm sure I'll be up here blogging off and on all day. Hope ya don't mind. I'll post my 13 list after I get back and the giveaway will be up sometime today too. But I must inform ya I'm hoping to get up a few paid ads as well. Other than that it has been a quiet morning. Hope everything is going well with you.

Stylin' While Pregnant

First, I hate pictures of myself but I will gladly take a picture of myself in something someone sends me to try out. That is as long as it is something that little children can see. I must say this is one outfit that I like, while it is suppose to be strictly a maternity clothes site I think it works great for those that have recently had children and just can't get rid of that baby tummy. I know there are others out there that have been in this position. No longer do ya fit back in normal outfits, but of course there is nothing for a "just-had-a-baby-but-can't-lose-the-tummy-outfit" that is until now. I say if you are one that is pregnant hop on over and look at the wonderful, cute and trendy maternity outfits. Oh and just because you aren't pregnant, doesn't mean they won't look cute on you too.

Just because you are pregnant doesn't mean ya have to wear nothing but sweats and those large or xtra large outfits. I wish I would've known about this site while I was pregnant with Little A, but I didn't and I did wear x, or XX or even XXX just to make sure I had warm outfits. Half the "cute" outfits, weren't so cute in Walmart or Kmart to me. But something like this would've been picked off the shelf and tossed in the cart in no time.

I remember being pregnant, I remember always wanting something cute to wear and now you can. Pick out some outfits today. I love the green ones myself.

What did You Do Today?

We celebrated Labor Day by watching movies, (of course) and taking a drive along the coast. I swear I HATE bridges!!! Course we went over four of them. We even went off to an Aquarium where we got to touch sting rays and watch sharks swim all around us. It was FUN! BabyGirl wouldn't go anywhere near the glass, can't say I blame her though.

As far as a BBQ goes, we did that yesterday. Yummy!

I Got It!!

I got it, I told hubby straight up this past week that I WANTED "WildHogs." I guess he was shocked that I came right out and said that and yesterday he took SoccerBoy out for lunch (he took the rest of us friday) and brought me back the movie.

Remember this is the movie that I LOVED and already watched 5 times. I told him that even though I'd watched it already I'd continue to watch that one as it is just too funny. So ladies, apparently all we got to do is come out and SAY we want something, no more hinting. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I swear that I need my own set of personalized pens for the house. This way maybe my kids wouldn't grab them and lose them all the time. I think that's my next goal, to get a little stationary set up on my desk, one that holds pens, etc and then my own personalized ones that way the kids can't say, "But mom, I thought it was mine." Does anyone ever need a pen and can't find them because their kids or hubby takes them? If this is the case ya might want to look into get some with your name on them or something that they wouldn't be caught dead with.
Primeval Review
Everyone knows I love movies so this is one of my first movie reviews at this site (I do post my movie reviews elsewhere)But one reader wrote and asked my opinion on it and instead of just giving my recommendation I thought a review for once would be nice. So here it is:
Primeval - A news crew is sent to Africa to follow a story on a giant man-eating crocodile, Gustave. The ticker, the boss wants them to get the story and capture the croc. They don't go alone though, along for the ride is a crocodile hunter, crocodile fan and a tour guide. But they are going down when their is war going on in the country and everyone is firing at each other, so the danger zone is really high.
Dominic Purcell, Brooke Langton and Orlando Jones are just a few of the stars in this flick. This is definitely one of those movies that has LOTS of blood in it. Which if ya looked at the cover ya already knew, but if ya had it brought home ya might not. This is one of those really fast paced stories and wonder when it'll get boring but for myself I was definitely kept at the edge of my seat wondering who would die next. But that's all I'll say on deaths. Lots of blood though, and some get what's coming to them, but others I just wish didn't have to end the way they did.
I did look it up and the story is supposbily a true story. But I won't say anything else. For once this was a movie I was able to watch at midnight with my screen door open and not closed. See on horror flicks I somehow worry the killer will come to my door. Course I'm sure everyone feels this. Just like if it's the scary part and the phone rings or someone knocks on your door.
Not for young children
