BabyGirl Meets Her Teacher
Anyways, today we dropped off the forms and while we were in the office it sounded like she wouldn’t be able to do school after all. I was really hoping they’d say they could find a spot. “Ma’am we don’t have any openings for afternoons.” My heart plummeted, I knew they had nothing for mornings last week and the only thing left was afternoons.
“Oh, okay,” I looked sadly at BabyGirl who happened to be playing with a marble toy singing, “I’m Going to School, I’m a big girl now,” over and over.
That’s when another lady spoke up, “Why not put her in my class?” My ears perked up at first, was this a joke or was I really hearing this. I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
“Are you sure,” replied the lady that had just told me they were booked, “you already have 14 in your class.”
She eagerly shook her head and smiled at BabyGirl, “Oh I’m sure.” BabyGirl, which had no clue she was being discussed about at all was still singing and swinging her half-ponytail in the air. “How about that? Do you want to be in my class?” Asked the sweet teacher that had just made both of our days without even knowing it.
“BabyGirl, this is going to be your teacher.” BabyGirl stopped singing, looked up, smiled and ran to hug her new found friend. Oh success, and now all I need to do is prepare myself to let her go.

A Weekend Birthday Party
Over the weekend we were invited to a party (birthday party) and they had rented one of those giant jumpers that you see these days. Now my number one thought would always be who is going to pop it. Right? First of all it was so hot the kids opted to stay indoors to watch Spongebob, Drake & Josh, etc. They’d take spurts where they’d go out front and brave the heat by jumping on it, but not much. Thankfully they rented it for the whole weekend so they ended up getting a lot of use out of it yesterday. But there was a bigger issue. All those other kids on the block that weren’t invited tried inviting themselves, or those that were invited didn’t want to come to the party itself but wanted their turn in the bouncer. When I say kids I’m talking 10-12 unaccompanied children. None of them showed up with their parents. I always make that a statement on invites, PARENTS must attend with children. Apparently one parent told her child to see if he could come over to the party to have cake, ice cream and jump in the bouncer. I couldn’t believe it.
It was fun for the kids though, mine enjoyed staying indoors and soaking up the t.v., granted they could’ve done it at home but they said they LOVED their couch. It was a very soft, leather couch. I explained I won’t be buying a NICE one until they get a bit older and stop spilling stuff on the two we have. Hehe.

My daughter has to have a nebulizer just about every winter season, that is since we moved out to the Carolinas. It could just be the air out here, which I hope, or something else. Now they have a portable nebulizer, so you don't always have to use it at home and find a plug in. This is great news for those that like to travel during the holidays, all it takes is batteries and your child will start feeling better in no time. Did you know you can even purchase a pulse oximeter these days? I had no clue, I thought these were only used in the hospitals. It's those little devices that ya put on your finger to measure your pulse.

KidNation: What's your Opinion?
KidNation:
The basic idea is: 40 kids, 40 days, 1 town and no adults. It's a twist from Survivor but with kids instead of adults. Teams competing, kids doing all the work to survive. That type of thing. They've been under a lot of heat lately due to some kids accidentally drinking some bleach mixed in soda. Not really sure what happened there, something about kids mixing them to see what would happen. lAnother was a girl getting splattered with grease while cooking.
Now it seems that New Mexico is investigating because of the child labor laws. I don't know how I feel yet, but I don't like watching all those YouTube vidoes on it. I think I'll be watching the first KidNation but I'll determine from there. If ya got an opinion on this please voice it here.

Have ya ever stayed at Mendocino lodging? I've never had a chance, but I have stayed in an Inn and they are beautiful. I love the fact that they seem more personable. Every bedroom is a different style at Mendocino they've got the Whale watch room, Van Dame Room and even a Tansy. The Tansy room looks as if it stepped off a prairie or something. If these don't suit your taste, not to worry they've got many more styles to choose from. Ya never know ya might even have to try out a few different rooms.

Movie Speak
Wow, can ya believe it I still haven't watched the three movies we rented on Friday. Hey, for someone like me this is NOT normal. But I will watch them, most likely later tonight or tomorrow.
Anyone see the following three I'd love to open up discussion on them:
Perfect Stranger
Black X-Mas
Reno 911- Miami the Movie (Yes I know this one was advertised a lot, I just want those that have actually SEEN it)
Movies I HIGHLY reccomend:
For laughs- WILD HOGS (without a doubt, I watched it 5 times)
For kid laughs- Unacompanied Minors
Scary- Silent
Scary- Vacancy (Don't plan on going to hotel after this one)
What were two funny ones you saw this summer? Two scary ones?

Speaking of theaters, how do you like the theater seating? Our base movies theater recently had a face lift, which lasted many months. Only problem is the seating didn't change much. I was just over at Stargate Cinema and saw that they actually had chairs that looked more like recliners, I would never leave. Maybe that's why most theaters don't have comfy chairs, they are afraid that people would never leave. Nah, that can't be it they'd make some REAL money that way. Imagine the tickets sales, snack food, etc. Yep, it can't be that reason. Which is too bad because I'd totally stay if I could sit in a leather chair that was soft, instead of these itchy theater chairs they normally have.

BabyGirl Learned How to Sucker her Brother into...
"I can't find any monies," BabyGirl told SoccerBoy, lowering her lower lip and looking at him with those incredibly sad brown eyes.
"Well you have to look BabyGirl." In which she did continue to look but was getting more upset...or at least pretending to get upset, "BabyGirl look over by the couch." While she ran to the couch he very carefully laid one on the floor in the center of the room, "just keep looking sometimes you'll find money right where you were standing.
She continued and came across the money he had laid down. She squeeled, "I found money! I found money, today's my lucky day." A smile formed on his lips as he walked out of the room.
By the way, she tried doing it again later on today, in which she found more money that magically appeared where she was standing. Yep, SoccerBoy struck again.

She's Going to School!
I walked into the office grabbed the paperwork and called again once home to make sure. I drop everythign off Monday morning. Woo hoo! Boo Hoo and all that other motherly feelings I'm going through.
Last night we bought her a backpack, which was her size and new shoes. I had to do this even though we just bought her new shoes...well sandals. Schools refuse children with anything open toe. EEEKKKKK!
She's counting down the days, preschool starts next month.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning I couldn't help but wonder how those secretaries get around in the schools. Their reception desks are so close together and those that aren't they are so long that they leave no space anywhere else. I wonder if they've ever thought of doing those round tables, vise the rectangular shape. Wouldn't that be a bit more spacious? Course I wouldn't mind more comfortable seating too. Our office has those hard chairs, I guess it is their way to make sure we don't want to stick around long.
Help: Moms/Dads that Had Baby's with Early Teeth
I need some help, I've never had a child that cut teeth before 6 months of age, if that. Now my son just turned 5 months and already has 4 teeth. I know it's a big OUCH. Did they ever grind their teeth? How do you stop this from happening? I know you can't just tell them not to do it and I'm worried about him breaking them. I HATE the sound it makes.
Thanks in advance.
Please help me stay sane!!! (Yes, that's an old pic)
Thursday Thirteen #15
13 Things that'll Happen on the 1st Day of School
1 You'll have everything ready the night before school.
2 Everything is unpacked from the night before school.
3 The children will somehow be ready before it is time to go.
4 Someone will try to wear something that is frowned upon by you.
5 You'll hear fighting at least twice before it is time for school.
6 You'll either be too early or too late, no matter how well prepared you were.
7 It'll be chaotic, no matter what in front of the school. (good luck finding the teacher)
8 Someone will finish the last of the milk but won't tell ya, so once you get back home to feed the little ones you must turn around and go back to the store now.
9 You will not get those things you wanted done today, no matter how hard you try.
10 Someone will forget something at home, probably because they emptied their bags before leaving. (yes you've told them 5 times not to do that but it never fails)
11 Lots of hello's and how are you, a few of the "where have ya been hiding" even, as ya think to yourself home where else
12 Your children will return with a bunch of crap for you to sign even though you filled out everything last school year and not to mention all those asking you to be a volunteer. Haha, not happening this year.
13 You'll learn the routine you had for the summer will no longer work for the school year.
Don't forget to stop by the giveaways for Tuesday and Thursday. Thursday will be up around 4 p.m. EST due to starting school today.
Net Jet Rulz!
Net Jet Rulz! Well at least that's what SoccerBoy says. About two weeks ago we were asked to review a Net Jet. At first I had no clue what it was, in fact I thought the email was an ad or spam. But once I read the entire email I realized they really wanted Homemom3 to review the product. I asked SoccerBoy if he'd like to review some Hasbro products. He knows Hasbro has toys so immediately he said, "YES!" I wrote back saying yes we'd love to review anything they wanted to send us.
We were surprised when the Net Jet arrived, inside the box were two games and the controller which had demo games. With each games you can try out the sample games, but you can pick three games to download onto the game itself. Remember you already had one game on it to begin with. Oh the controller is small enough it can slip into a purse/diaper bag and be carried around with you on road trips, the keys have a clip that you can clip them to just about anything. Our keys are connected to my small camera bag, now if we stopped at a hotel that had internet access he could play it.
I did ask SoccerBoy his opinion on the Net Jet: (like I really needed to do that)
"I like it, I don't want to give it back to them." I did have to explain we were keeping it and he smiled, "Okay then I really like it but I hate how long it takes to load a game."
What was your favorite game? So far Paintball, once I beat that I'll tell you if I like any others.
Before ya ask we have been trying out other games but his main focus is Paintball. I even played with the machine, I liked Bubble Bonanza! best. Oh and the funny thing is I got hooked on the game, it's better than video games like xbox, or the playstation. At least this doesn't take rock science to load.
Instructions:
- Take it out of the package. (not easy to do, don't use box cutters to try this)
- Place desired game in slot in the controller (slides right in)
plug the USB cord (controller) into your computer and load it. (takes you to the game page)
- Select the ganme you want to play and wait for it to load
Here is exactly what we got:
Hasbro Net Jet Online Gaming System
Net Jet Booster Key - Mission Paintball
Net Jet Booster Keys - Marble Blast XP
As you can see by the price they aren't bad, in fact they are cheaper than most video games for my son's Gameboy Advance. He has already asked me if he can get a few more instead of one of the Games he had previously asked for. There are 10 game keys on the Hasbro site and I hear they have more coming out. There are a lot that little kids will enjoy from Spongebob to Fairy Oddparents. One more thing, you aren't bombarded with TONS of ads.
Hasbro: I've got one request for ya, make some two player games. I think my kids would have a blast competing against each other. Hmmm, maybe a side by side race car one?
Bush furniture has a lot of stuff to offer, but the one thing I like looking at is the desks. For a long time I only used the dining room table, but as our family grew so did the space. Currently I'm on a child size desk and boy does it get crowded, come tomorrow my desk will get tons of school papers on it for me to sign. Boy do I want one of those nice "L" shaped desks I see many of my writer friends have. Or even a half circle that I can have all around me. My ultimate will one day be a roll top, yes I know it is small but this day and age you can get a laptop that fits perfectly with it. Well, dreams can come true right? In the meantime I'm looking at Bush Furniture for future purchases.
Rockets that Take Off
So, now I'm looking around to see if I can find him any model rocket that he isn't going to blow up the house trying to make. Which of course brings me back to my junior high days when we had to take wood shop. Yes, I got stuck taking that class and lets just say I almost shot the rocket back at the class as I did something wrong. Boy, does that bring back memories. So, I'm off again looking for beginner rocket models. Any advice?
School Starts Soon & Lists
Last year I was a bit shocked as I got EVERYTHING on that list, even the brand they specified. Imagine my horror as I watch the teacher literally empty the 4 boxes of crayons I just bought inside a giant tub. "Ummm, why'd you do that, those are BalletGirl's?"
The teacher's reply was, "Any questions should be directed at orientation." I was basically ignored, but I learned that not everyone bought the brand name that was listed, most were buying cheap crayons, markers, pencils, etc. So this year, I did just that, forget Crayola when I can buy .10 crayons like everyone else. I still don't get mixing everyone's items, when I buy a school supply list it is SUPPOSE to be what my daughter uses in school that year. Isn't it?
This year I've taken a different approach. I bought most things on the list, some I haven't yet. I will and I know I will before the grading card but I bought basic items needed. Honestly I can't picture why it'll hurt if I wait a week, especially since we got the list LAST week.
Question: Why does a teacher need 4 packs of dry erase markers from 30 students?
This year my son's class need a USB stick. Okay more later, I need to figure out what it is I haven't bought yet.
Calling All Maiden Names!
Actually it was my last name about 11 years ago. I hadn't heard my last name is years, it isn't something you hear that much because there is a "t" in it. So of course when I heard it I jumped up to go next. Only to be quickly embarrased by the entire situation. Eeek.
Okay has anyone else ever done this?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My house is so plain, yes I know it's military housing but I think if I tossed in some quoizel lighting it would really spark up the place. For instance the living room has no light fixtures, you can only use lamps. I think if I mixed it up with a mirror and a small lamp it would really shine. What do you use to brighten up a plain room. With a Quoizel you light up your room with style.

The first one I did was under "Eliza."

To see where this picture came from click the link: Eliza Angus1. It looks like a college class.
I'm guessing this is someone's art work and if you look close enough at the tree you can see some carvings. At least I think they are, could just be the knots but I'm picturing the triangle on our dollar bills.
I did look up "homemom" and pulled up my own pic so I won't be doing that one. Try looking up your blog handle as I call it in images and see what you get.

I was actually named after Elizabeth from "The Waltons" by my mother. My father already had a car that had the name of Elizabeth before he ever met my mom. Kind of funny.

With our time in the military slowly coming to a draw I've been looking all around the country to find a home. Or at least an area where I'd like to move. When most people get close to getting out of the service, normally they look for a good real estate agent to help them find a home. So far we haven't called one but I have done several searches through GMA Realestate to see if there were any in my hometown and we are in luck, there are at least 9 in my price range. So, I don't know about him but I wouldn't mind moving back there if we HAVE to get out. I'm still hoping for a miracle.

Update on Wrist
For those of you wondering, I'll still blog but it might not be 5 posts in a day. hehe. Any of ya'll ever deal with this? How long did it last?
While waiting the hubby and four kids waited to give our wee man his 4 month old shots. Yes, we are a month behind but figured it's perfectly spaced out and we were already there. Remember they didn't want to do it before because of his teething. BTW- he now has three teeth and just turned 5 months old today. Yeah, OUCH!

Get those last minute vacation trips taken care of now before school is out. I've always dreamed of going on a Kissimmee vacation. Imagine renting out a pool home, condo or even a townhouse while vacationing. Most of the time we rent in hotel rooms, but we've stayed at the beach houses a few times and I must say I prefer that over hotels any day. Tip- whenever planning a vacation always make sure you have somewhere to sleep before you get there.

I'm Hooked on YouTube
Did ya'll know you could watch movies there? YouTube even has cartoons, commericials, videos of kids doing crazy stuff. My favorite lately has been my soaps. I went back in time and have been watching all the old "Passions" and some of the "Days of Our Lives."
I hear you can even create videos there. Is this easy? I want to try. I know I sound like a kid in a candy store or a writer released in a book store, but that's how I feel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My skin has been getting dry lately, guessing it is because of the moisture in the air mixed with all the heat. Some would probably say it is dehydration thrown into that as well. Either way I need some skin care products. My favorite are those that have the lovely scents of fruits, raspberry is my favorite, after that it would have to be vanilla. I hear that spas give you the full treatment. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone lather you all up in oils and lotion and massage all those worries away? Oh if only I had the money to spend on a massage.
New Movie: Eye of the Dolphin
Win Free Movie Tickets to see Eye of the Dolphin!
A new movie hits theaters on August 24th, "The Eye of the Dolphin." 15 year old, Alyssa(Carly Schroeder) has lost her mother and has now found herself expelled from high school and being sent off to live with a father (dolphin researcher) she barely knew. Now she's been trapped in the Bahammas, a life she's never known and now feeling trapped she befriends a dolphin that seems to have become a great importance to her. But when she goes to her father for help, things begin to change.
Her father tells her, "I forbid you from having any more contact with that dolphin." Of course no teen is ever going to listen to that. Can this father and daughter come to terms with everything between them? Will she be able to adapt to the Island life? This sounds like a great family movie to watch and of course I love it even more since you can win tickets to go see it.
Visit the Website and get all caught up on the cast, galleries, etc.
Watch the Trailer for it here:
I've always dreamed of swimming around with dolphins, would even love to do those dolphin sessions at Seaworld. Every time I've ever gone to a beach I've seen one or two jump in the water, it's a beautiful thing. While I've never been to the Bahamas I can only imagine how beautiful it would be to sit on the beaches there and watch as the dolphins play.
My Weekend!
For the first time in months I had a me hour. Me hour= for those of you that are wondering, it is when I get to be alone to do whatever by myself. Alone, as in NO children what-so-ever. Yes, even the baby stayed behind. Wouldn't you know it I head down to the store and hang out in the kids clothes and toys. Ya'll ever do this? Tell me I'm not the only one. Oh but I did buy a book for myself and hung out at the stables for a little bit. Wanted to go to the lake but it was REALLY crowded.
Sunday we all went to see Ratatouille (sp) which I thought was a really cute movie. But out of everything I've watched this weekend I must say, Unaccompanied Minors was the funniest. BTW- I'm planning on having a site just for my movie reviews, so stay tuned.
School is almost here for us it starts August 23. Gear up and get ready.
I have two fishing poles but no fishing tackle. Yep, it's all gone, I have no clue where it even went. We've only went fishing one time, which means it is around here somewhere. BoatersWorld has everything you can think of for fishing supplies. Honestly I always thought of bait as tackle, that and the little hooks. Never even thought of rods, motors, etc as tackle. How about you. Out of all tackle I think those fish finders are wrong, if you want to go fishing do it the true way, don't cheat. It isn't like the fish have a one up on you.
Pain in Hand
It's the left hand from the pinky down. At first it felt like just my joint there and it needed to be snapped or something but I woke up to it hurting down to my wrist, so it seems to have spread. Before scolding me I am writing this one-handed and BOY is it hard.
The pain only seems to be on that side of the hand and down that side of the wrist and arm. I am calling the doctor tomorrow, just in case it is something that needs to be checked out.
Any suggestions?
Like Books?
So when I was asked to review Books Free in exchange for getting one month free. First, signing up is easy and you do get an confirmation email so don't worry about someone using your info. You do have to have a CC# but a paypal debit card works just as well.
You can order any of their audiobooks or books through them once a month. Currently they've got over 18,000 audiobooks and 17,000 regular books.
- Sign in.
- Pick your books.
- They send you the books and leave a prepaid envelope for you to mail them back in. There are no late fees so you can keep them as long as ya want, course if ya keep them it means you will be charged for the next month until you either send them back or buy them.
There are many different plans to choose from, mine is the 2 books a month. I get two books, send them back and pay for another month. You can pick between: 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12 books per month. Each is paid monthly but the books come quickly if they have them in stock. You'll be emailed when the books are sent to you.
Audio books can arrive with just 1, 2, 3 or 4 at a time.
Now honestly I forgot to cancel my membership before the next month started and they did promptly take out the pay for the following month. This was actually okay with me as I did enjoy the first month and wanted to try out a few more books. So, books are shipped fast (as long as they've got them), payment comes out exactly when they say it does (no wondering when it'll hit) and the books actually look new.
Water Everywhere!
Oh boy, last night was NOT a fun night. For the past two days I've been experiencing water on the floor. Okay, I'm a mom...actually a mother of four, so when I see water on the floor I simply clean it up. Now imagine:
- walk into the kitchen (by the fridge) and feel my feet get wet. It's dark, I can't see much and assume the kids must've spilled water. I toss a towel down, wipe it up and toss it in the washer.
- I go to use the downstairs restroom and find a plunger by the toilet and water on the floor. I grab the mop and clean it up. Kids must've been playing, will talk with them later.
- Next day, more water on the floor in the laundry room. Hmmm, maybe my washer was overloaded. It's done this before in other homes. Toss a few towels down, let them soak and do some more laundry. (I HATE LAUNDRY)
- 30 minutes later I go to move wash to dryer and the floor is wet again, much more now. Okay now I'm thinking it must be the washer and decide to remove the clothes from the wash to the dryer and wait a bit. Tossing down towels and one blanket to soak up the mess.
That's when it dawns on me that this might be something else. I remember the bathroom wet, kitchen and now laundry room. I re-check every room and sure enough water in each, coming from the wall (bottom). I decide to check garage where the air unit is and it is soaked. I call maintenance.
They came today, fixed it in an hour. Guess what it was? The AC unit, apparently it stopped sucking or something because foam wasn't around a pipe. So, no more wading in the water.
PHEW! I'm so done with LAUNDRY! Off to watch my movies.
Bedroom Furniture
Gotta love that quote from "The Godfather" we use to watch it all the time when we first got married. Hey it's an Italian movie, what'dya expect? Anyways that's not why I'm writing.
Many people wonder why they can't get sleep and they've forgotten one thing about beds. When ya have a bed for more than 5 years it is wise to get a new mattress. Why? Simple, all that weight day in, day out wears down a mattress. Do you have an indention in your bed? Sure it may be just right, but it isn't just right for your back. Trust me mine aches.
Anways, our last mattress was bought 5 years ago and of course the hubby kept saying we'd be buying a new one. I was excited, but we didn't buy one. We keep putting it off for one reason or another, well it seems that BabyGirl wanted us to get a new one too. She cut the mattress up and I'm talking literally. So looks like we'll be needing a new one, but I want a super soft one. He of course is a firm person, not me. The Gallery Furniture has tempurpedic mattresses and those are the ones I've been looking at. I hear they are so great for sleep.
Houston furniture offers many different household furniture that you will need from dining room to bedroom. If I were to choose any bed I wanted, without money as an issue it would have to be this bed. It even has a light that goes around the bed, this is great for those that stumble at night. I know I do it several times. Which bed would you choose?
The Furniture Gallery also has casual and formal dining room tables, I could definitely use a new table. We had previously bought a Kmart brand table but the legs have grown really wobbly so I think it's time to get a new one of those. Not to mention we now have 6 to sit for and the table is meant for only four. Yeah, I know but not everyone sits at the table. I would love a table that has a leaf in the center so that when I wanted everyone to sit down I could just add it, otherwise a small one would make for a great homework table after school for the two older ones.
I Gotta Locket!
The picture is of our first-born, he's now 10. I remember this day very clearly, we drove up town to have a day out. He was only 12 days old at the time and we had hit the mall. Deciding to take family photos and do a bit of shopping. He was such a little angel, quiet the entire time... so much he refused to open those little eyes. I so wanted to get a picture of those bright blue eyes and that dark hair. After lunch we went to go watch a movie and everyone was so surprised to see a baby in the room afterwards because he'd never made a sound. Thinking back I think most of our babies have been like that, they were just made for movies. The outfit in the picture was a gift from my sister, it was a little baseball outfit.
Ya'll know I get things in the mail from time to time but this one is very dear to me. Why? For years I've wanted one thing, something to keep a picture of my loved ones in...a locket. No matter how many times I hinted or stated I wanted one I never got one. That is until recently when I was asked to review one. Course while reviewing it I also get to keep it. I LOVE IT. Wearing it right now.
Before ya ask, they do need high resolution. Once again all my pictures were bad quality, after the first (picture doesn't work) I thought it would be like my canvas. I sent them an email back with 5 photos and said, any that work and just surprise me. I was very happy to see it in the mail and open it up. This will definitely be something I wear always, heck I'm wearing it now and the kids constantly ask, "Mom, open it up I want to see SoccerBoy." hehe, yep it's cute.
(WARNING: Pictures don't do it justice.)
Ordering is simple and you actually get a couple of choices:
My Choices:
- Sterling silver heart locket, which comes with Free Gift Packaging
- Free Jewelry Polishing Cloth.
- How you will send photo: email, don't want a pic in it, mail the pic, upload the pic.
- left or right side for photo
- color or laser
- message on back
- type of writing on back no text, text, monogram (I chose text but wish now I had done monogram)
There are a few more like if you wanted to add a message inside the locket, on the front side or if you wanted a chain. All in all this is a great gift for any mom, no matter if they are gma, new mom or what. Capture a memory and surprise her. I want to get my mom one of my kids in it. Mine even came in such a pretty box that I never wanted to take it off, but I thought SoccerBoy would think something was wrong so I put it on.
Thursday Thirteen #14
It's all about those good supertitions. Do you have any?
1 Cross your fingers - Yep I've been known to do this for good luck. Have you?
2 rabbit's foot - good luck I believe, bad for the rabbit. No I don't have either.
3 Knock on wood - Yep, especially if I just state something is going to happen. I always knock on my desk.
4 ladybug lands on you - Oh I believe in that and have had a few land on me a time or two. THe girl's love for me to put it on their skin though....it tickles.
5 A robin flys into your house - I think it is better than a bat. Ikk.
6 walking in the rain - Umm, I use to as a child and didn't have BAD luck, don't remember if I had good. But I know now if I did that I'd have bad luck because I'd get sick. Don't agree with this one.
7 an accorn in the pocket - never tried it, but I use to carry a buckeye in mine.
8 buckeye- good luck, not sure if it is just an Ohio thing or not but I use to carry these nuts around everywhere. BTW- don't eat them, only a squirrel knows which side has the poison.
9 cutting an apple in half - while it may not be good luck it is suppose to say how many children you will have.
10 spitting on a new bat or glove - this just sounds too gross to me and no I never tried it.
11 money in a gift- It is suppose to be good luck for the person. If you give someone a person make sure to leave a penny or something in it. Suppose to bring good luck, my dad always made sure there was something in it before giving us purses.
12 nose itches you'll get money - I doubt that is true, but I use to believe it. My nose itches from the hay down the street.
13 a penny on the ground - see a penny pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck. I like to believe in it.
and just because I feel like it supposibly if you hear a woodpecker your purse will be full. Full of what? Wood?
I have the Tuesday Giveaways up but the Thursday Giveaway list won't be up until noon. Let me know if ya got one.
Wordless Wednesday #14
It was a day when the fog moved in. Everyone knew there was something not right about the weather, but no one could dream such a thing. The fog stayed low on the ground, sucking up any coolness that came near. There were no sounds that day, even the birds had stopped chirping and the crickets ceased to make noise. It was late in the afternoon, when everything was like a sauna when one shriek was heard. A shriek that no one knew if it were man or animal, a shriek no one could find.....
Okay this is my Wordless Wednesday, hey I had to try something different.
Don't forget this week's Giveaway list! There are 30 of them there, plus a few sites that list giveaways as well.
A Blonde Moment
Once I got married I thought I'd change the curse of the blonde and colored my hair many different shades of red, I still do from time to time. But I don't think the roots, ya know the ones deep down and will never appear, will ever let me forget.
NEVER use an exacto knife when opening a package on your lap. Yep, I did it. OUCH!!!!!!! It slipped from the plastic material, slipped across my pants and left a deep cut. Man, didn't even realize I was using that much strength. So that is my warning to you. NEVER use an exacto knife on something hard to open...at least not if you've got blonde roots.
Halloween The Movie by Rob Zombie
As ya'll know I LOVE movies, whether they are scary or romantical...I just have to watch movies. Take a peek at the trailer now.
Okay, do you have a favorite Halloween movie? This year even though it is not a Halloween movie, I'm going to watch "Messenger" a bazillion times, followed up by all the Halloween movies. Okay, maybe not all but at least a few. Oh and lets not forget Nightmare on Elm street. My son insists he wants to do as I call, "Halloween Scare Fest" this year with me. We'll see, he is 10 now, but he won't be watching all the shows.
I remember being his age and staying the night at a friends house. We were all watching scary shows, their favorite was Freddie. The girls, except for me, were scared to death, wouldn't even leave the room. Pops and I decided to scare them, he went around outside as I walked the girls back to the room. They wouldn't go without me as I was the only one not scared. Once inside he ran across and scraped the screen with something so that the window made a screeching sound. Everyone screamed, it was so funny. To this day, I love watching scary movies.
I've read that Rob Zombie was calling this movie more of a prequel of it. So, if I had to guess he's going to do a before Halloween and after. Kind of like showing the ENTIRE story we never get to see. Either way, I'm sure it'll be fun, scary and interesting. I'm going to be watching it. Will you?
Why is it so Hard to get Snipped?
*
*
WARNING: NO LITTLE EYES
*
*
*
*
*
By no means am I saying "Men get out their and slice your balls!" I'm asking why is it that hard to go and get them snipped? Is it a pride thing that makes it take so long to get it done or just a fear of having that blade there?
Vasectomy.com:
Vasectomy is considered nearly 100 percent effective, safe, and does not interfere with sexual pleasure.
Little history:
Blast back into the past of 2000, hubby and I sitting in the doctor's office a few weeks after I hemmorage because an idiot doc left part of the placenta in me and made me VERY ill. (Doc says, it happens sometimes) Now I'm being told that I can't get my tubes tied because of the chance of me hemmoraging again. We are there to get cut/snipped/tubes tied. They tell hubby he's too young, they want you to be 26 years old or father of 3.
Three years later the condom broke. :) Woo hoo, we brought in our 3rd child, a girl. When she turns three years old we go to the docs once again and are told you must sit in this class before getting it done. Takes a day out of your job. He does it, we find out we are pregnant (c broke again) and they say they won't do it. He is eligible to do it now as the rule out here is father of 2, can't remember if the agae is 26 or 28 but we qualify for everything...except we are pregnant. Woo hoo!
Honestly I love my children all the way down to my toes, and more but you get the picture. I have four now and think that is enough, I don't think we should have anymore. Hubby feels the same way, at least says he does. Only problem is he won't GET SNIPPED. He told me he would once the baby was born as docs out here say they won't do it until after baby is born. He went to get it done right after, they told him not until baby is 6 weeks old. He went got the papers, even took the class again. But he hasn't went back to get it done. Why?
He tells me he will, well buddy ya ain't getting nothing until then. How many women did that one? How many of your wives or you wives said, "snip it or nothing"? Please tell me I'm not the only one.
malereproduction.com:
Vasectomy is the most common male sterilization procedure with about 500,000 being performed in the United States each year.
How many of you men tried to talk her out of it, tried romancing her, bringing home a box of you know what? No not chocolate. :) Yeah, it ain't happening, that little box doesn't mean a baby won't come. BTW- before ya think I'm being mean, I did offer to get it done. First, he said no and when I tried doing it without his knowledge doc advised me not to because of my history.
Is it that painful? Do you lose the desire to ever want to have sex again? How many days do you need to stay home after it? The sites all state it is something you could go back to work the next day with. Obviously the woman can't, was even told a woman can't pick up things after it. I have a soon to be 5 month old and three other kids. I think it would be easier for him.
Mothering.com:
Vasectomy is a 30 minute procedure performed in the physician's office.
I've read so many daddy blogs this morning where they stated they got it done. I'd name them but for the sake of privacy I will not, they may have only meant for their readers at that time to know, not the whole world. how did you get convinced or how did you convince your hubby to go? Should I make him stay with the baby all day and change dirty diapers and feed him a bottle? Open for suggestions.
Okay I'm done with the whole snipping talk.
Outreach Program that Wants to Help
The boat outreach program actually uses boats to encourage the troubled teen. Instead of just sending them off to the desert (Holes) they put them on boats and live like a little camp.
The Outreach is currently being built and their total cost at the end will be $200,000. In the mean time they are asking for Car Donations this way they can get to and from and be able to help out more boys. The main idea is for them to be able to reach out to the homeless and to get the drugees back on track, without the drugs that is. Imagine helping a single mother, a family that is on the streets after they lost their jobs and couldn't afford payments, etc.
If you have an old car that you no longer use, would ya think about letting them have it. It is for a great cause.
This is a paid posting.
Thursday Thirteen #13
It's my 13th, Thursday 13 so I just had to do 13 Bad Superstitions. Are you superstitious?
1 Bad Luck to walk under a ladder- Honestly I wouldn't know, I REFUSE to walk under one. In fact I will push it all the way down the aisle just to get around it.
2 Open an Umbrella indoors- NEVER, EVER. I don't chance it, not to mention I'd somehow break one of my glass items.
3 Black cat cuts your path- This one doesn't bother me, I grew up with a black cat that was always going in front of me.
4 Break a mirror- haha, you won't catch me breaking one of these things. Okay I lied I recently did and cut myself. So see it does have bad luck.
5 penny found on tails- My kids would beg to differ here, if they find any money it is good luck. I must say that I agree with them.
6 step on a crack and break mom's back- Tried it, didn't happen. Girls were so scared about a month ago because their brother told them if they stepped on a crack it would break my back. Imagine a road that has nothing but cracks and a 3 year old trying hard not to hurt me. I made her jump on them to show her.
7 placing a hat on a table- never heard of this one but my hubby always leaves his cover on the tables.
8 itchy nose, fight with someone- Nope my noses itches all the time and I don't fight with anyone. Not that day that is.
9 don't sit cross-legged playing cards- I always sit cross-legged hmm, maybe that's why I lose at playing cards.
10 dove circling above- akkk, I'd never heard of this one. Okay no dove better fly over me, I don't want to die. Why the heck do they have them at weddings then? That's kind of strange if ya really think about it, since the doves fly over the bride and groom. Okay just ruled out doves at any future wedding of my kids.
11 unlucky to wash baby's head for the 1st 12 months- ickkkk, I'm washing his head all the time. Can't imagine not washing a baby's head for that long. GROSS!
12 Breaking a glass while proposing a toast- Yeah I'd say that was bad luck, especially if it cut fingers. Never happened, instead our best man wished us many, many children. I need to find him and let him know I now have four and if that is many enough for him. snicker.snicker.
13 A picture falling- Yeah that creeps me out if no one is near it. I've seen this done on Days of our lives too, which is probably what taught me what this meant.
Hope ya'll enjoyed oh and the Thursday Giveaway list will be up around one, it's 9 a.m. my time now.
