BabyGirl's No Pooping Funny
Anyways, he's yelling at me because of it and she comes in, "What's wrong Little A?" Little A does not stop, instead he looks at her with the watery eyes and yells at her.
"Mom, I know what to do." I smile and look at her, "You take him to the bathroom and sit him on the potty." I explain he doesn't know how to go, "It's otay momma I'll learn him."
Yep, just thought ya'll would like something to smile about. Back to leg pumps now.

5 Cheap Things that'll Entertain Your Child
#1 Bubbles and I'm not meaning the type you blow, however that would work just as well. But I'm talking about the type you get in a package. My sister recently sent my son a bday gift and it had five sheets of bubble wrap in it. I think she did this on purpose as she really thinks it would upset me but instead I love it. I tossed out the bubbles today for BabyGirl and taught her how to make tunes.
When I say I taught her how it does mean that I actually did it. You kidding, I'm a big kid myself. We hoped back and forth across those, we popped them with our fingers and then we ran across them some more. She's currently sitting on them now, reading a "100 EZ lessons to Teach Your Child to Read." Yes, she really is trying to learn.
#2 Dirt. While this may be every parents worst enemy, it seems to be a child's best friend. Up until this year I've hated the dirty, I have no clue if I did as a child or not but as a parent I can't stand my children to get dirty. My husband has always told me to lighten up and I guess after a 4th child you have to as early today I sent my child out back to dig me up another garden so I can plant seeds. She has fun digging and pretending and I can plant seeds and grow more life, just this time not through my body.
#3 Box. We've all learned this one, at least if you've celebrated your child's first birthday. Children love the boxes, they won't care if there is anything in them because they only want the box. Grab a box and toss it in the living room and see how fast it becomes a house, space shuttle, spy ship, etc. For even more excitement let them color it with markers, crayons or colored pencils. Children will stay in this all night if you allow it.
#4 Pots N Pans. Take some old pots you've got stored under your kitchen counter, rinse them out and hand them to your child. You may want to give them a wooden spoon as well, no they won't be making you lunch but they will be making something creative out of it. Within an hour your child may have conducted an orchestra, or just a rock and roll band, walked around the house pretending to be in the marching band or maybe made you the best cuisine you've ever pretended to have.
#5 Bath. My children love the bathtub, whether they are in it just for fun or to actually take a bath and get clean. Throw in some bubbles or make some using their shampoo and fill it up. They'll make themselves into an old man with a long beard, a mohawk. Add a few plastic toys (not stuffed animals) into the tub and they'll have a village, hiding spots with bubbles, a fort, etc.
See it doesn't take much to entertain a child, all it takes is a little thought. The next time your child tells you they are bored, try one of the above ideas. Or you could simply go to the store and buy that $100 doll that poops because it would be soooo neat to watch. Gross I know, but my daughter still wants one and she has a baby brother.

New Hours
Anyone ever work two jobs? That's currently what he is doing, which means he can get very tired. Or it means when he comes home from the second job he is so awake that he can't go to sleep like a normal human being. UGH. Granted I can't sleep either way so I get to keep him company and we have some time to talk without the children listening in. We've got to start doing this since I've no clue whether or not we are really getting out.
He just left for work and I'm about to start my day in the writing world...or is that blogging world. Both pay me so that's where I'm headed off to work. Yes, even I get to contribute to making some money, hopefully it'll get us out of the debt we are in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With CheckAdvantage you no longer have to write out all those payments manually. That's right, they've created a accounts receivable conversion program that'll do it automatically. When you are in a business everything is about how quickly it can be done, suffiently. For the faster you get things done the more you can accomplish. If you are slaving at a desk for hours on end writing payments in a book, you are waisting valuable time that you could be doing somewhere else. Say for instance planning your next advertising campaign or a store window. Get all your files sorted out in a matter of minutes, not something you have to sift through for hours at a time. They even have a color coded function, which is perfect for seperating different items, making it easier on everyone. Get yourself the program today.
Looks for a bookshelf? Studio RTA Furniture already has ready to assemble furniture just for you. They've got things like desks, book shelves, dressers and more. If it is a household item, they've most likely got it ready for you to put together inside your home. Stop having all those books pile on the floor and get yourself a real bookshelf. I, myself love the Geneva Bookcase, however my son would want the Lime Green 3-tier bookcase. Course I do fear the girls would not like that color, but there is also a purple one. Or I could just decorate the baby's room with a changing table, dreser and crib. If you need furniture, take a look at Homeandliving.com.
Need some Cash?
CheckCity is becoming one of the fastest payday loan companies online. They are quick and easy to apply for, so it is no surprise to me. I love it when you don't have hassles to go through. I remember one time when we applied, it took days to finally hear back and by then we no longer needed the money. Hey, when you need the money fast it normally means right away, if you can wait a week or two you probably don't need it. We needed it, we asked someone else. But at CheckCity you get either approved or denied right away and then within a few days the money is in your account. No waiting. Get money today through CheckCity.
Anyone know how to help my little guy? I've tried tummy rubbing and doing the bike thing with his legs but he still isn't going. Any suggestions?
The Guests are Gone...
Today, they were standing on my couch. A BIG no-no, jumping off the edge of the couch. A bigger no-no. And climbing on him, that's fine since it was outside and he was okay with it.
Currently they are all very tired...and cranky. lol. But that just means they'll be turning in within the hour right? Man, I hope so. lol. We went out to eat at Sonics and of course I got myself a corn dog and an hot fudge sundae, man I love those. Came home and said our goodbyes. No tears this time so I'm happy. The last few times we've had one of the girls in tears.
Okay now to go back to looking for my precious, I stopped since they were here but now I can go back to messing up my house in search for it. lol. I'm going NUTS over it right now.
In Record Time....
No, I had not planned on cleaning today as I do most of that during the week days. Yes, I'm not a good mom. I don't clean my house on the weekends unless I know someone is coming. I believe that my kids will mess up everything I've already done so why stress myself out over it. Instead I choose to have fun with them and worry about the mess come Monday morning. Probably another reason why I hate Mondays. Brings the song to mind, "Just Another Manic Monday," after all Sunday is my FUN day. hehe. Okay, so that was a lame attempt at making a joke.
Oh, I will admit not everything is clean. In fact, I had been doing laundry all weekend. Most were folded but under the circumstances they were all quickly placed on my bed upstairs. They'll come out once our guests leave.
Anyone ever hide clothes piles in your room on your bed? Tell me I'm not the only one that does this?.
Last Minute Guests
I just got a phone call one hour ago, "Can I come out?" I quickly passed the phone to my husband, it's his dad after all. He responds, "You already on your way out?" He asks because I've been insisting he'd come out this weekend but would probably only call once he was already on his way. He kept saying he wouldn't do that, but I insisting if he thought about it he always does.
"Yes, I'm an hour out." Ackkkk! I'm thinking, I knew it though but at least this time it was an hour away and not 10 minutes. Gotta get back to cleaning as he should be calling any moment to tell us he needs us to let him on base.
By the way, I can't go get him, I still haven't found my precious.
I think I've lost my mind!
Friday night we went out to eat, which means I must have an ID card present to get back on base. Which I did. I didn't go anywhere on Saturday .... except one place...the party. So I'm searching...no I'm turning this house inside out looking for the stupid piece of card and still no sight. My one final thought is I took it to the party and it slid out of my pocket. UGH! I so don't want to go down there and ask if they've seen the most important thing that'll let you be on base. :( Talk about a brain fart, new people and everything.
Okay, back to looking as I'm hoping that the kids just dumped out my diaper bag again and just don't want to fess up to it. ERRRRRRR.
"Mom, how much longer?"
This morning I woke at 5 a.m., don't ask me why I have no clue. Hubby was sleeping...snoring in bed, Little A was as quiet as a mouse and no one else was making a peep. But I still woke up. I looked at the clock and saw 5:00 and I wanted to crawl back in bed. In fact, I tried to do this, but it didn't work.
Slowly I crawled out of bed, picked up Little A and his (MY) pillow and carefully went downstairs. I placed him in his basinett and got online. Yep, I started reading blogs, heck it's quiet which is the perfect time to do that.
6 a.m. Balletgirl comes down and sits herself on the couch. I tell her to be quiet as everyone else is sleeping. "Okay, mom. How much longer til' the party?" I look at her and smile, I remember those times. It's only 6 a.m. honey, not even breakfast time and you don't go until after lunch. "That long," she whined. Yep, and she went back to doing more of those beads.
She tried at 6:30 to wake her brother up, she was screaming and yelling and jumping on the floor. Trust me, I heard all this. See, his room is above the computer room so the little noises I get to hear. I knew she'd wake someone and had to hurry to stop her. Thankfully I did. "Honey, no one is going to the party this early."
Every hour she comes in and asks me if we are going yet and the answer is always "NO". Man, I swear this is the longest party I've ever NOT been to in the history of birthday parties.
Mommy Talk on Little A
...he falls fast asleep on my pillow
...I run my finger across the bottom of his chin and he grins, even when he's sleeping
...he's stretching and arches his back, reminds me of a little turtle
...he laughs or coos
...he cries.
...he stares me in the eyes.
I don't love it when...
...there's a mess in the diaper. YUCK!
...he makes those choking/gasping sounds. Scares me.
...he crosses his yes. eeek.
But I do love him, fully and completely.
I went to the Doc for Myself, not ....
Fast forward to today as I'm going to skip all the other stuff. I go to the appointment with Little A and he begins gasping. This is nothing unusual for him, we've heard him gasp for air several times since he's been home. Almost daily, I figured he just tasted too much air or something. Today, the doctor heard and told me that if he is still doing it next month she wants him to come in.
Question time: Anyone have a baby that gasped for air? Was anything wrong? She did make the comment she'd really like to stay away from Zantex (sp).
Tis Strawberry Pickin Time
Oh it's almost May I can't wait. Up until last year I had always done May Day at Rigg's Farm. I say last year because both kids went to school and it didn't seem fair just to take BabyGirl when they couldn't go. But it really upset my events for May Day, so this year I decided that the two youngest and I will be going. Hey I love my strawberries but I think I enjoy watching my kids pick them. When I was younger we got to pick our pumpkins but never anything else and this is SOOOOO much fun.
Request: Can ya'll start sending me some EASY (bad cook here) strawberry recipes? Please!!
Okay back at the farm...normally I'd went as a homeschool group and it was $3 per child. Not sure what it will be this year but I'll make sure to bring the money. You get your own plastic bucket, fill it all the way up and take it home. Now with the group you normally got to sit at a table and they brought out homemade ice cream and coloring books. Sorry you can't beat homemade ice cream. I will be buying that regardless of the cost. lol.
Okay what fun things do you do?
Win some Prizes by Bidding
The concept is you use your cell phone to text messages to Bid4Prizes, whenever you want to bid on something. Prizes include Samsong TV, Scion XB, playstations, Nintendo, an apple iPhone and several other gifts for you to choose from. However, compared the the company I use to bid on, the winner is actually the one with the lowest unique bid. You don't win if you are offering the highest amount, course that is why I always lose on eBay because someone outbids me. You always bid in cents too so no bidding at $10.00.
Get out there and start exercising those fingertips to win a nice car. Remember,
Christmas is just around the corner and you can have a NICE gift to give someone without spending a ton of money.
The Birthday Gift...
So, now all of my kids are coming and after posting a request for birthday party ideas I decided I wasn't just getting one. Each child is bringing a small gift, this way it is fair that they go to the party. Sounds crazy I know but instead of buying one big present between $15-20 I bought 3 little ones.
Each child will bring him their own present and they are tiny little packs of Legos, I heard he really enjoys putting Legos together.
Lego Racers
Maga Blocks Nascar
The Amazing Spiderman
Sound good? I think he'll enjoy these, now just to wrap them up and explain to BalletGirl she doesn't tell him today at school.
Bad Day
Ever have one of those days when you just wish you could hide? I'll be back later, as my cheerful self, in the mean time sign up for those contests.
Kids must take the Hepatitis A shot now
What is this shot? Has your child had it? Will you be making your child get it?
We got a paper yesterday from the school, it appears that the school (at least military schools) is now making the kids start getting the Hepatitis A shot. If the child does not have the shot before the new school year they will not be allowed to attend. I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I do know that if we are still in the military it isn't really a choice we get to make.
Is this going on off-base (in the civilian world) as well? You might want to call your school to find out. Let me know please, this way I know for sure if I'll do it. I mean it's free for us to do it in the military, once we get out we have to pay for everything.
Thanks
SoccerBoy wants to Learn Karate
For Christmas last year he kept begging me to get him the Johnny Sockittome, but I couldn't see buying it. At that time he kept getting beat up at school and while I did think about it for defense reasons I figured once school ended he'd never go back with it. I've now learned that once a boy gets into something like that it is normally the opposite outcome. I'm just not sure I want him beating a bag, but I guess it is better than someone beating on him.
So, do ya think he's ready for karate? I guess I'm just worried because it means someone is going to be punching him and I'm not sure I can watch that. I'd be jumping out of my skin watching it.
Sending the Marines to Collins College
"Why babe?"
"Oh, I've got a few Marines that were wondering about art schools. I told them that you looked everything up online and would probalby know something, after all you know authors."
First, let me explain, yes I may be a book reviewer but that does not mean I know many authors. If I do, I don't know about it. But I do know how to look things up and that's what I did. I found out that they actually have these art schools in just about every state, so sending a marine to art school isn't a problem. Now, to explain to him I want to go off to school to get my law degree, yeah that'll be a problem.
My Traveling Sister
But she does remember to always bring me back something. When she went to Ireland she brought my girls back Beanie Bears, both green in color and my son got a tiny (miniature) silver chess set. Another time when she left she sent me a beautiful poem about sisters, I can't recall where she went on that trip. In Las Vegas she may not of brought me home anything but she sure did have fun raking in the dough. So, you can probably see why she's want to join one of these reward programs. She spends so much money a year on trips, for business and pleasure, she might as well have some fun doing it right? Hey, as long as she is bringing me back some of the world I don't mind.
The Pants Strike again...
Today, I put on some stretch jeans that I haven't worn since I was pregnant. Woo hoo, I know. They were a bit worn around the knee but no problem, well by the end of the day the worness ended up being a tear, the tear now goes across my knee. So, how do I justify being able to walk around with holes in my pants? I love my pants and don't want to part with them.
Comforters for Cheap
As you may also remember, I’m very fond of “soft” when it comes to sleep. No, I do NOT like firm. Could be why I loved my goose down pillow so much? So, that’s what I’m looking for.
DOWN DEALS-
Down Deals actually has some great down comforters and pillows for you to choose from at really low prices. However, if I can find what I want you better get there before me. I know a good sale when I see one. These are actually good quality, only cheap prices because they come straight from the manufacturer.
Remember I lost my pillow once to my husband but now I’ve lost it to my new little man. Who’s going to take a pillow from a baby? This little guy knows that soft means getting down and I must agree. It is a proven fact that the more relaxed you are, the better sleep you get at night, which most people don’t get.
Down Deals offer you many of the same type of comforters that LL Bean and Bloomingdale’s would, but this is a closeout sale. So, everything is cheap. If you are looking to make a great deal on your bedding, this is the time to shop.
Keep in mind that bedding make fantastic gift ideas. I know as a child I always wondered why someone would give me a blanket, now I know and want them. You ask me what I want and I’ll tell ya down bedding, pillows, blankets, whatever. Searching on the site isn’t hard, click on the drop down menu and choose what you want, it’ll find it for ya. I wanted “goose down” and it brought me up to a page full of Goose Down Comforters. I’m really thinking about getting their Bentley Baffle Box Comforter, which is only $100. You can’t beat that! Wow!
P.S. One more bonus for you, if you type in this coupon code: APRCOMF2007 at check out then you'll get 25% discount on your down comforter.
Need New Blinds
If you've ever lived in base housing then you already know that they can be very strict, but for the most part they are great. I do love our housing workers, always friendly and will be there within a few days if you report a problem. BUT...I recently we hit heads. Why? Well, I missed the warning about getting everything replaced that needed it as I was sick and inside all the time and they left a note on my door, which got blown away I'm guessing. They came by and told me I need to replace them ASAP, only problem is they won't pay for them now as I didn't do it in the alloted time. UGH! Yes, I explained what must've happened but it doesn't matter. Their response was, well we guaranteed blinds. Well, I'm not paying if we are only moving out and the houses are getting torn apart. Right?
So, I've been stalling, in the mean time I have been looking at blinds. One site I came across was Guaranteed Blinds, which deals with just that...blinds.
They've got tons of blinds from wood, shades to even pleated blinds. Of course lets not forget that they are discounted. I love a good bargain. Don't you? Get yourself some blinds that have style and class. You don't have to look like all your neighbors do you? I know I would like something different from the rest if I MUST spend money to replace them. I don't want the same plastic ones, granted they are better than those metal ones but still. I want to shop at guanteed blinds and get the roman ones.
Help: Birthday Gift Ideas
Okay, BalletGirl came home very excited today. She got her very first birthday card invitation and it is from a boy. So my question is what do you get a 6 year old boy? I can't recall what SoccerBoy liked back then. I believe it was DragonBallz but I'm not sure and don't even think they are "Hot" anymore.
Parents of 6 year old boys, please help me. What do I get him? It will be outside and it is a water party. Do I just stick with water guns? Help!!
Summer's a Callin'
I'm so ready to move. Wait, that's not entirely true. I'm freaked out that we may be getting out of the military. Yep, we still have no clue. One week he thinks we'll get out, the next week he says Oh we might stay in. You never know and I'm sick of it. Really, I'm the type of person that likes to plan things in advance. He's the type of person that waits until the last minute, or worse does it right then and there if he thinks about it. Ikkk! While he's off having a blast doing whatever, I'm sitting there trying to decide if we need hotels in Kos or a room at the Disney World hotel.
I remember when he first got back from Iraq, that night we went to Disney Land. Of course because of the amount of people he couldn't handle it and we ended up staying at the hotel but never leaving it.
Okay, anyways I need to start planning as I hear my aunt-in-law is coming out for the summer and wants to stay at the beach cabins. Ikkkk! I wonder if she realizes that you need to make a reservation back around Halloween to get a nice one. Guess we'll find out soon. Wish me luck.
I'm No Techno Mom
Nope, that's for darn sure. I just stood upstairs by the stupid television set (it's one of those flat ones that you slide the darn dvd into the side) trying to let BabyGirl watch the new "Charlotte's Web."
I failed, failed miserably, but not without some coaching from her.
"Mommmmmm, you push play." Yeah, talk about a genious, but I did push play. Really I pushed play, t.v., dvd, t.v again, I pushed every single stupid button on it. After about 15 minutes it came on. Woo hoo! But guess what, it was the ending of the show.
I did push play, and play movie. So, why did the stupid thing go to the end of the show credits? I want the beginning of the daggum show. Errrrrrrr. Okay, no web. Sorry BabyGirl but momma isn't a Techno Momma.
Daddy came home for lunch...thank goodness...she's currently watching "Charlotte's Web." Go figure. Course he won't let me live it down now. Going to crawl under my rock that I must still be living under since I can't figure out how to watch television or a stupid movie.
By the way I did see this the first night we got it and it was GREAT. It's the new one and be careful as I forgot about the little piggy and well that's BabyGirl's favorite animal. Guess it's a good thing we didn't take her to the pig pickin last friday. Oh my, could you have pictured that?
Boyfriends, boyfriends, boyfriends....
Yesterday-
"Mom, such and such (name protected for child's sake) was whispering to such-n-such and he told him, she's HOT." hehe
My response is oh that's cool, ya know this day and age that's the phrase you say when your kid tells ya something. It doesn't matter how you really feel, this will make them feel good and you get a smile in response.
"Mom, hot means like pretty. He didn't mean I was "hot" like the sun makes you hot. Okay?"
Yep, I couldn't help but laugh a bit and she just looked back. "Ummm, well of course you are sweetie."
"Mom, you can't tell me I'm hot. Only boys can." That's when she innocently looks up at me and asks the forbidden question, "Mom, when can I have a boyfriend?" Ackkkk! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!
To top all this off, yesterday while the two oldest were in school I was listening to BabyGirl (she's three) playing. She was pretending to talk on a phone that they made out of all those beads. "Yeah boyfriend, okay, okay. What boyfriend? You want to come over? Okay." Yep, even she is into that word now. EEEEkkkk!
Movie Recommendations for You
These two movies I can't recommend enough, one is strictly because I'm a writer and the other is purely entertainment. BTW- I've watched them each three times. hehe.This is one I'll end up having to buy.
Stranger Than Fiction-Novelist Karen Eifel can't seem to finish her latest novel and the publishing companies sends someone to help her. The problem....she can't kill off her main character. Little does she know that while she's been penning this novel her character is actually alive and starting to hear everything she writes. This is when things will get crazy in the story and keep you laughing until the very end.
The Holiday- Both have been hurt by the ones they love and are determined to start over and take a holiday...as far as possible that is. But what happens when they run into the first man they see? It's a great movie that'll keep you entertained until the very end. For those wondering Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law are in this one.
I'm always on the look out for new magazines, or any magazine that deals with military wives and I have found one, it's called, "MilitarySpouse" and it talks all about the ins and outs of being a military spouse. It is geared more towards the Army and Air Force, I haven't seen much mention on the Marines but I'd love to read some articles that pertain to it. Do any of you know any other military magazines I might like that I haven't heard of yet?
How Did Your Site get Its Name?
Homemom3
First, I'll explain how it became homemom3 and once you know you'll think oh well that was easy to figure out. Can ya guess? Well, obviously I'm a homemom and AT THE TIME I had 3 kids. Yep, that's it, I had to think of something that I could remember and that was it. Kind of like my AIM name ... elizajane2004 but I'm not always on that before everyone tries bombarding me with IMs. You'll be lucky to catch me, ask my family. So, if homemom3 ever comments on your site, you know where she came from.
I'm not just a mom...I'm a Homemom, was a bit more thought out. It was one of those things where I got so mad that everyone would say, she's just a mom or like when my son told me I did nothing all day. That last part didn't go over very well with me and he had to write up a small report on the things a homemom might do. So, that was around the week I was creating this and I wanted everyone to know that "this mom wasn't just a mom but a homemom.
I also have a few other sites:
Eliza writes... so you know my name, shoot and that was suppose to be a secret. Well, I don't think I need to explain that to you. I'm a writer and I was communicating with a bunch of other writers in a community and decided just to call it Eliza_writes.
EntertainUs News, is a celebrity site and I couldn't really think of anything. Everything I came up with was taken, Entertain Us Weekly, Entertainment etc, everything and anything dealing with the word celebrity had about 15 gazillion blogs already using it. So I simply took what the site was suppose to do, "EntertainUS" and tossed news because it is news about the celebrities. Easy and hopefully it'll get known soon. But may take a few months of really blogging that subject.
Dreams To Come True...this one took a bit more thinking. I wondered exactly what I would want to talk about and in the beginning it was all about making my dreams come true. Hahah, see the phrase. I wanted to a published writer, an author of a children's book, a novelist and of course make money writing in my spare time. Later I would begin to add topics such as homeschooling and then it would become even more parenting/writing as I'd discuss kids going to public school, life and the birth of my youngest.
My kids made some blogs under me here:
Yo-Yo Blogging- My son wanted to blog and make some money from google adsense, I told him that if he would write about something I'd give him any money made off that site. So far he's made about .10 and he just opened up a yo-yo store and hopes to make more money. Hopefully this will get him into wanting to write more, I've started noticing him with my notebooks writing fictional stories. That's gotta be a success story.
A Little Girl's Mythical World- This took a lot of thinking on my part and boy did those few brain cells hurt afterwards, but my daughter wanted to write about fairies, unicorns, magic, leprechauns... you get the drift. So, I thought it sounded like a little girl's world and that's the way we'd title it. She loves it!
I have more blogs but am afraid I may lose you by then if I continue to write them all out. What are your blogs? How did you pick the name?
Serious Question to Breastfeeding Moms about Dieting
My question to you breastfeeding mothers out there, when is it safe to diet? Please do not send hate mail, I'm more than willing to read everything just keep it nice. I'm not in any way trying to hurt my child, I just want to find a safe way to lose weight. What type of diet did you use? Did you just cut certain food items from your intake?
Things you don't say to a woman that recently gave birth:
- "Mom, if you had the baby, why are you still pregnant." As eyes shift down to your lower half.
- "Ma'am, didn't you just have your baby?" Yes, you reply and raise the little one up you have in your arms. "Oh, and you are pregnant already?"
Oh, I could go on but I'm sure you know what I mean if you've ever been in my boat. I have this stomache that just won't go away.
I do know that walking, jogging and exercise do work and take some time but I was just wondering what some of you may have tried. Thank you so much in advance. I have been loving one product I have tried, but I'll talk more about that in the morning as my youngest is calling out for him mommy again.
#1 in Google
Guess what I got? Duh, (as my kids would say) the title gave it away. Yep, I'm number one when you type in Homemom.
Course if you type in "Homemom3" you get me on everything, from places I've commented to my blog. That's cool right? Course that name wasn't going to be very popular.
I'm a Home Mom & I'm Not Just a Mom - Both get me to #1 as well and then half way down the page I appear again. The entire phrase will appear as #1 & #2 and half way down I'll appear again when MomGadget congratulates me on the birth of my little boy.
Okay that was fun. Where is your blog or comment name at in Google? Looks like Google had some fun as well today, below is a graphic they had up for Earth Day.
Earth Day Carnival
Earth Day Projects/crafts
You mean you want to know what we are doing besides making these plastic fun things? Well, we are doing a TON of Earth day fun and of course those plastic things.
Gardening- That's right it is time to get out those shovels, rakes and seeds and begin to dig in the dirt. Of course this meant that the two girls just HAD to sit inside the deep hole that they created and then pretend that everything was food. They brought out old cups, bowls, spoons and of course small shovels and dug for about an hour. Yep, just an hour before they wanted to make more plastic stuff.
Cup Garden- I'm sure you've heard of this. You get a paper cup and fill it with dirt, place a few seeds in it and you've got yourself a garden. Well, in a few weeks and the girls are EXCITED about it.
Bag Garden- We started this a few weeks ago, knowing Earth Day was coming. Toss in some paper napkins, a seed, some water and watch it grow. Oh make sure it is a clear, plastic baggie...kind of like a sandwhich bag.
Recycle- We did this anyways for the most part, not everything but I'm pretty good at dividing things up. However, the school sent a list of items to recycle and of course BalletGirl has been following it to a "t".
Summer over at Mom Is Teaching wrote Ideas for Earth Day
Katelyn from Free Holiday Ideas has a list of recycling info for Earth Day.
If you are looking for Earth day printables then Printables4Kids is the place. Every holiday there are tons of printables available to ya, I love this site!
Don't forget to check out Gayla's wrap around plant idea. I love this, it's too bad we don't have a tree in our yard. I'll keep this in mind the next time we move, thanks for the idea.
Weary Parent lists lots of way to have some fun on Earth day. I know my kids will want to go to Planet pals every day.
Thank you to everyone that participated.
Colleen Made $10,000 off of PayPerPost
Late last night Colleen from Simple Kind of Life hit her $10,000 mark. What I mean is she is the first person to make that type of money off of PayPerPost, she was also the first person to hit $1,000. Colleen did all of this within 9 months. Congratulations, Colleen!
I watched eagerly last night to see if she would do it and she did. Tricia from Tricia's Musings will actually be the next one to make $10,000, she is currently at $7,886.98.
I decided to go look around at some of the videos Colleen has done in the past 9 months that Payperpost has been around. I even went to look at RockStartUp and found this little video of times gone by and thought she might enjoy it. This is where tables got turned on Ted.
Now, you may wonder if Payperpost really does pay its bloggers....the answer is YES. In fact you can earn quite a bit from this company, just look at Colleen and Tricia. Now that I've seen such a great goal that was made I'd like to state that I am now wanting to reach that number. However, since I'm doing this so late in the game I'll give myself one year to make that but by August I'd like to be able to say that I've made my first $1000. I'm currently $213, I'll be getting an additional 89.50 next month. Can I do it? Well, if I put my mind to it I think I can.
Colleen has shown bloggers across the blogosphere that earning money with Payperpost as well as other companies can be done and you can make a great big amount.
Earth Day and Outside
Course that means endless hours on my back porch...sitting on my rear or as the kids would like me to say...butt. I's sure after just a few hours of gardening the kids will be begging to play at the park and then I'll be out on that back porch alone. What I really want this summer is some teak outdoor furniture. I had wanted wicker furniture before but since being out here I've realized all the rain would just destroy it. But the Teak furniture actually has a polish on it that would keep through the storms.
Okay back to dreaming. Ta ta!
I've been Drafted....
I finally let me kids open up a gift they got at Christmas from my LOVING parents. The item has 15,000 beads and 9 pegboards. It is one of those crafts where you place the tiny beads (made of plastic) on the peg boards and design something. I made a car and am currently making a purse. Shhhh, the purse is a secret.
It's been a lot of fun, even SoccerBoy took part...but he didn't stick around long. He wanted to play outside on this beautiful day. Can ya blame him? It'll probably pour down rain tomorrow.
Oh the craft box is from PERLER Beads and I just found out they had a site because BalletGirl asked me to go to www.perlerbeads.com. I didn't believe her of course, which shocks me since everything is online now. The site has TONS of different craft ideas, so they will be at this ALL day long. I've got teeny beads all over the floor. Lots of cleaning to do but lots of playing too.
I'll show pics of our designs a bit later. You might remember these from your childhood, they were the ones you iron and then they all stick together. I never had them as a kid and probably why I'm having a blast with it now. Shhhh! Mommy's aren'ts suppose to be kids.
PPP takes a Company
My guess: ReviewMe? The Blogger's Choice Awards site? The site that is always downing PayPerPost?
If it were ReviewMe, I could see why they took it over as it has become a huge success. I mean bloggers like John Chow dot com are making BIG money off it, I can only imagine the cut that RM gets. Hmmm, could mean that PPP would get a nice slice. But I doubt it in all honesty, I mean if you have something hot you aren't going to sell. Are you?
Blogger's Choice Awards site, it could be. They did first announce they had something going on in a blog post during the first few days of the Awards posts going out.
Man, I can't remember the name of that other site but they are always saying something bad about PPP and then PPP gives us opps to write online ads about it in return. I know someone will know what I'm talking about. But I doubt they got that company, it did seem big even before PPP.
Either way Payperpost will not be announcing who they acquired until some time next week. Some may wonder why wait until next week to announce it. One reason could be that they want the ink to dry on the contract. At least that would be my guess.
My big question to them is: Does this mean there will be BIGGER Opportunities for us? More for us to take? Oooh, I would really love it if I could make more money as well off this venture. Right fellow posties?
I'm a B lister!
What were you? Don't forget to let me know.
Get Your Coupon Codes
Have you ever went to the store and bought a ton of food? Of course you have, especially if you were planning a party or only go to the grocery store once a month. We use to only go once a month, now it's like every other week. Oh except for milk, milk we have to go buy every two to three days. Why does milk have to be so darn expensive?
Yes, I do know there is such a thing as coupons, however my problem with them is that I always forget to bring them with. Who here does that too? Please tell me I'm not the only one.
Most of the time my problem is if I don't shop at Walmart, then I'm shopping at our commissary which doesn't have a catalog for coupons. Okay they do but nothing my family eats. Not to mention our catalog will have those stupid sale ads where I can buy something for four equal payments. You know what I'm talking about, those picture frames or porcelain dolls.
But I found over at Coupon Chief they've got a ton of coupons, even Kmart Coupons. The site is great though because somehow I always end up throwing mine out, now I'll simply go on Coupon Chief, find my store and download them. (that is...if I don't forget them at home) But at least now if I lose them during the week I just go back and pull them up.
I love this site because you can also see what they've had for the past week or so. Currently the Kmart specials:
70% jewelry department: diamond and bridal items
20% gardening section (woo hoo, hey it's springtime)
There are many more coupons for Kmart that don't expire until the 21st but I'm not listing EVERYTHING. Go take a look for yourself and if Kmart isn't your cup of tea there is WalMart, Best Buy, Overstock, Gap...you get the picture. Have fun!
Hop aboard the Technorati Train
I first saw this mentioned over at Mr. Gary Lee's website, guess I wanted to see if it worked. Okay that's not true, I was lazy and kept forgetting to write it up. lol. See, I actually favorited his blog the day he posted it, but as you can see it took me a while to post about it. Are you trying to find a way to increase your rankings? One way to do it is by joining in on this "Technorati Faves Exchange" or as I call it "The Tech Train." Oh, and if you want to hop on another train, you can join Garry Conn on the "Automatic Technorati Train."
To find out even more about the origins of the Tech Train, read Dosh Dosh. This is suppose to help you reach the top 100 on Technorati, now I'm not aiming that high, but I'd love to add a bunch of names to mine. Currently I only have 5 and would love it if I could reach even 50 people favoriting me. See, it does't take much to please me right?
Gary had a cool idea on how to improve DoshDosh's train, read below:
Paintball Fun & Trivia
Which brings me to a confession…I’ve never played paintball. In high school, everyone I hung out with would go out on the weekends and do these paintball wars and shoot each other to only come back to school and tell me all about it. I never realized how much fun it could be until recently. While I’m being honest, I’ve only held a gun once and I didn’t get anywhere NEAR the target. Hehe. My hubby would love it if I’d just agree to let him get a few paintball guns, but I’ve always said no. But now that we are possibly getting out and hoping to live in the country, this sounds like a fun idea.
I came across this site called, “Ultimate Paintball” located online at www.pntball.com. They are one of the largest paintball stores online, with a huge selection of paintball guns to choose from. In every dollar range as well, whether you have a lot of cash to spend or not so much like us normal folks. Trust me when I tell ya, they've got everything you'll need. Now before ordering (like most sites) you'll have to sign up for an account, then place your order and voila you are done. It's simple and easy to do.
At this store you’ll be able to find:
Paintball masks, paintball guns, paintball markers, gear and of course for those just starting out (like myself) there is the Tippmann marker packages. The Tippman package runs at around $160 and consists of oil, a manual (perfect for newbies), 2006 Tippmann 98 Custom ACT Marker (gun), 20 oz tank, 98 custom barrel, ammo hopper, squeegee, wrenches, black jet elite mask with visor and no fog lens and of course the one year warranty.
For you frugal people out there that LOVE a great deal, there is free shipping if you place an order $200 or more. Don't forget to place the coupon code for it in your basket though.
Here’s a bit of trivia for ya. Did you know the term paintball marker actually means paintball gun? Yep, they decided to call it that for those of us that would normally freak out over the fact that it is actually a gun. Marker just sounds so much nicer.
Report Cards: How were your grades growing up?
Her report card was I guess all "A"s, I don't really know. See, it's not like when we were in school and got A, B, C, D or Fs. Now they have:
E - Exceeds grade-level expectations
M - Meets grade-level expectations
S - Steady progress toward grade-level expectations
L - Limited progress toward grade-level expectations (remember last year my son thought it meant LOSER)
She got all "M"s and one "E." Teachers note was very long on how good she is and that she loves being in those special classes. See, she's in a higher science, math and reading.
SoccerBoy's report card was EXCELLENT, at the beginning of the year he was failing...he had "D"s. If you recall his teacher was giving awards out to those students that finished their work FIRST. Which meant he wasn't really doing it, just putting answers down so he could get the prize. AKKK! We've since corrected that problem, and I'm happy to report she no longer does that.
He got one A, which means he went from a B to an A. Woo hoo. Actually all his grades went up and one stayed the same, since the beginning of the year and that was social studies. His D in math at the beginning of the year is now a B. Woo hoo!!! Oh and yes with his report card he gets the same grades as his sister plus the ABCDF thing. Go figure right? Lets confuse the parents.
We are very proud. Do you remember what it was like knowing report cards were coming home? Our's would come in the mail, which meant some of us tried sneaking them before the parents would come home. Today, they send them home WITH the kids. EEEKKKK.
Smorty: Get Paid to Blog
Smorty is a get paid to blog service, also known as blog advertising that pays its bloggers to write ads on their blogs. It's a stepping stone between the blogger and the advertiser, if you need word-of-mouth this is the company for you.
Momma Slips Up...
How?
Well I decided to run the dishwasher, dryer and washing machine all at the same time. No, I know this doesn't normally flood a house but it was what else I did. I decided to do a small thing of dishes in the sink. I turned the kitchen sink on and went back to blogging. I know you see what happened now. With all that noise I didn't hear the water, it wasn't until my daughter (3 year old) asked me if she can get wet. AKKKK! Yep I did it, I flooded the house.
Things that Bug Me....(UGHHHHH!!)
Back in February I never mentioned something that made me freak out. Yes, this does irritate me to no end, so don't do it! While sitting in a doctors appointment, I became bored waiting in the tiny room and started looking around at everything. At first I fixed BabyGirl's hair and took the chocolate smudge off her face. I looked at SoccerBoy and fixed the collar on his shirt and then put my hair back up in the ponytail it was already in. That's when I noticed it. It was so small but so HUGE at the same time. I saw.....a...foot. Yes, I saw a toe, it was sticking out of HIS SHOE!
I was in shock, see I remembered going to school with my toes sticking out. It was nothing huge and not because my parents couldn't pay for it but because my feet grew too fast. I had clown feet, okay I admit it. But he doesn't! Why had he not told me he needed shoes? WHY!?!?!?! I would've went out that day and bought them, or that weekend if they weren't bad. Just tell me your darn shoes are getting tight. Geez, don't wait until they've created their own entrance to the world. UGH! His excuse, and yes I did ask him..."I didn't think I needed new shoes yet." akkkkkk!
BTW- he does have new shoes.
Then yesterday as he's getting ready to walk out the door for school, I notice it. Notice what you ask? No, not shoes again.....holes in his pants. Not just holes, I could finish their job with a cut the size of a fork tong thingy and it would've come apart. "GET SOME JEANS ON!" That's all I could say. He comes back down with....another pair of jeans with holes in them. This time they are a bit better, you can see his whole knee but the hole doesn't go around the back of his leg. Yeah right!! "YOU KNEW WHAT I MEANT! GET JEANS ON THAT HAVE NO HOLES!"
"Mom, I outgrew my jeans. The only ones I have left have holes." Okay, why didn't he tell me. Man we are going back to the whole shoe incident.
"WHY didn't you tell ME?" I've got to be foaming at the mouth because I feel like I've gone mad. His response, "I wore jeans with holes in them all spring break. Didn't you see?"
Of course I saw, it was spring break, they are suppose to play outside in jeans with holes....not their good ones. Needless to say, he went with shorts on today, boy will he be cold. Tonight, we are going shopping. ERRRRRRRR!!
Recap on Goals
Goals I have left to do:
My website still needs updated, which means I need to write up those 5 book reviews. Anyone got a book out that they want me to review? How about an interview? Those are always fun and the author gets a bit of free publicity.
I still need to write something for CC. Anyone have any luck with them lately? In the beginning I did but not in the past 6 months, of course I haven't submitted anything new either.
Oh and something I didn't put on my list but I should have. Find a market for books. That's right I have one picture book and two novels completed and need to find markets for, so I guess I'll be doing a bit of market research some time this week. I really want to find a home for that picture book, I've had it written for 9 years now.
If you are a writer, how many hours do you put in doing market research? Is it just a few or more hours than you care to count? I know it takes many hours just to research parts for your book, ie one of my stories deal with a ghost so I had to look up all types of info on it. How about you, whether it was for the story or marketing your book?
Don't forget to check out my post on CONTESTS and enter a few. But remember to tell me if you win anything. I'd love to know that all those hours searching for contests paid off for someone. For all you PPP Freaks tomorrow is $1K Tuesday and I'll be up ALL day.
UPDATE on Dog issue: There is no dog issue, at least not at the moment. They finally took my advice and bought a new collar. Woo hoo!
Promotional Items Galore
In my house we get all types of promotional items, besides the fact we are probably on every mailing list out there and go to plenty of local fairs, I'm also a book reviewer. As a book reviewer I get a lot of those neat goodies that come with getting a book in the mail from the author. Sometimes I've received a night light, bookmarks, magnets, personalized pens and of course the book itself. I love all of it! Heck, I'm also a soon-to-be writer...which basically means someone waiting to be published and there isn't any writer out there that doesn't like writing goodies.
Why would someone need personalized pens? For someone like me, I just love to use them. However, if you are actually looking to invest in some there are many reasons to buy them. One is to promote your business, as a client uses your pen or it gets lost somewhere your name is getting out there. These would also make great gift ideas for any birthday or celebration, it's a great way to remember the occasion and cheap. So, if you are planning on having a birthday party, toss in a few pieces of candy, stickers, erasers and a couple of these and you'll have a great goodie bag.
Six Feet Under, have you seen it?
For those that don't know, it's basically what it sounds like. A family that deals with funerals, kind of makes ya think back of My Girl, doesn't it? But it's funny, in the beginning it was Mom, Dad, a sister and three brothers. The father gets hit by a bus and thankfully sis is always driving around in a hearst and that's how they bring him back to the funeral home. Ikkk, to most but the scene was pretty funny.
The last one I watched was extremely sad since they'd just lost their brother. That would just be something too sad, especially when you've only recently lost your father and your mother seems to be going nuts. I just saw that there are 5 seasons so I'm not sure if this was the beginning or the ending. Guess I'll try finding them on DVD.
Does anyone watch this show?
One thing is for sure, it'll definitely make you think about funeral insurance, especially when you watch as some of these widows had nothing. I never thought about needing it, not even with hubby in the military, or as an adult period. Guess it's something your parents never taught ya growing up, gotta learn about it on your own.
What's the Weather outside?
Wind Advisory (well it did knock over one of those basketball hoops kids play with outside)
Flood Watch (Okay, my garden is drenched, but I have seen worse)
Tornado watch (Skip us, please just die out)
Severe thunderstorm warning (You've got to be kidding me)
Flood warning (What's the difference between a warning and a watch?)
Here is a little peek out my back door. (Hey, I was going to add a pic of me but no votes over at Bloggerschoice) hehe.
So, now do you think I deserve to go somewhere nice for florida rental vacation? Hmm, I could always go to Disney World, I've never been there, but been to Disney Land about 12 times if not more. I would say I want to visit Sea World but I've seen enough water this week to probably last me all summer. Granted I know the kids will be begging for the beach. It would be nice however to swim with the dolphins, I've always dreamed of that. My sister did this on one of her MANY vacations and I've always thought about it since.
BloggerChoice Awards, Will we win?
There are many categories you could place this site in. Lots of the best blog for Moms, dads, celebrity blogger, etc. You will need to sign up, here's the form. See, I'm even helpful.
So, a recap:
Best Parenting Blog (I can wish right?)
Best Blog of all Time (that's a tough one)
Best Gadget blog (Momgadget is my choice)
Best Geek Blog (GeekySpeaky, come on the name says it all)
Hottest MommyBlogger (I'll post a pic if I get one vote on this, haha and it won't be my avatar)
Just think, bloggers can finally get awards, kind of like Hollywood right? Not really, since we don't get the red carpet treatment. Well, we do get the carpet treatment for the red wine that spills on the floor or the ground in oatmeal. YUCK! We may not get to be movie stars, but we are our own stunt people. Who else would let projectile vomit land on them, get peed on or have poop spray at them as they change a butt. You think a movie star is going to do that? Ha, we are MommyStars, not Movie Stars! So, don't forget to vote for me.
Hey, I've begged now, should I cry too? :( boo hoo. Plllleeeeaaaasssseee! Okay, have a great time voting!
Does Disney Hate Mothers?
I was sitting at the computer when BalletGirl(age 6) came down. She'd been upstairs watching those Disney cartoons at 8 in the morning.
"Mom, why doesn't Roo have a dad?"
This completely threw me and at first I didn't understand until she said they were upstairs playing with toys and realized Roo doesn't have a daddy. For those of you that aren't 100% familiar, Roo is the baby Kangaroo from Winnie the Pooh. Roo does have a mom but out of every show I've never seen a dad. Hmm, maybe his dad got shot by some hunter, but I don't dare tell her that.
"Ummm, I don't know. Maybe he's on vacation."
"That's a long one mom. Maybe he died...or he got a divorce!"
Yep, divorce seemed to be worse than death to her. Course, on our little street three families are going into divorce, so of course she thought that. What would you say?
At this point my son came down and took part, after his sister told him everything I'd said. "Mom, she's right, Roo has no dad. You know Mom, Ariel doesn't have a mom in the Little Mermaid and in Little Nemo his mom died and Lilo has no mom or dad, only a sister." He grinned at this because he knew he'd discovered something that I hadn't quite yet. Course now all I can do is sit and think about all those Disney movies that had no moms...and even no dads or no parents at all.
So what's the deal, does Disney hate moms?
What are some movies you remember that didn't have a mom?
The Little Mermaid (Ariel has a dad, no mom)
Snow White
Beauty & the Beast (Belle)
Pocohantas
What are some that didn't have dads?
Winnie the Pooh's Roo
Dumbo
Lumpy the Heffalump
Lion King (Simba's dad dies)
What are some that had no parents at all?
Lilo and Stitch
Tarzan
Cinderella (loses her dad in the beginning)
Bambi only had a mom until the end of the show, then dad reappears and in the Bambi II he has no mom.
Come on Disney don't parents EVER stay together?
Meme: Your Name Needs
Okay do ya'll like MeMe's and I found this one to be a lot of fun, in fact everyone in the house did. Yep, for about an hour everyone was looking for their wants and needs. To read my wants go up to the first link in this post, I think it's kind of funny.
All you need to do is go to www.google.com and type in Your Name wants and see what it comes up with. Since we already know what I want, lets find out what I need. After all wouldn't it be nice to see what I really do need and not just think I need.
Eliza's Needs:
- Eliza needs her sleep (well after three days of about only 4 hours yes I did)
- Eliza needs to find freedom and happiness (and here I thought I had it, ooh maybe I'll be rich soon. You know getting out of debt would make me happy)
- Eliza's needs remain unseen (see I'm not the only one that doesn't know what I need)
- Eliza needs the truth under most circumstances (yes, under most...so why not ALL)
- Eliza needs help in finding her career path
- Eliza needs to write more (hey I think I found my career path)
- Eliza needs sponsoring (sure do, so far not making anything off the site itself)
- Eliza needs to see the eyes (my girls could tell ya that, I'm constantly saying, "Eyes" which means get the bangs out of the face)
- Eliza needs to keep rubbing (I'm so not going there...)
- Eliza needs to escape her home (what mom doesn't right?)
To end on a funny note, "a reasonably sized family car with 4 doors is just what Eliza needs." Well kind of, I need something that seats four kids and two adults. Four door though is definitely better than two.
A Lemon for a Year!
But have you ever bought a vehicle from one of these lots? Oh my gosh, there are so many things that you should learn before trying to roll in there. First of all they'll try to rip you off if you don't know how much the car is normally valued at. I've found a neat site to help with this it's called Lemon Free and that's just what they want for ya. They don't want you to walk away with anything less than you could have. Lemon Free lets you look up make and models of vehicles and see if they have anything for sale in your area. This would really save on mileage too. Each listing tells you a bit about the car, including how many miles it has on it.
We currently have a Ford Explorer that we are probably going to have to sale before the end of the year. This site can definitely help me do that. Granted, it'll be hard for me to part with this vehicle.
See this car pulled us across country when our other one would've died in the beginning of it. It even saved our lives when a trucker drove us off the side of the road into a snow drift. EEEKKK!
I've had lots of cars in the past, a Honda...would've preferred a Honda CRV, a POS, a truck, a jeep wrangler and many others. Many were Lemons, that we've slowly learned that you must ask every type of question imaginable. One lemon would've been better served with tea.
Are you interested in a new or used vehicle? If you are this company will help you through the process. Who knows you might even walk away with one that looks brand new. Currently there are listings for: Toyota Tacoma, Mazda 3 and BMW 3 Series. I wish you good luck in finding that car that's right for you.
Used Cars For Sale
Make Your Site #1
All listings that go through the site, will be permanent, so you'll never have to worry about disappearing. The site is pretty easy to navigate through and the process is easy to find something you need.
Workstation Contest Entry
Now you have a great excuse to get something done, or at least win something nice for yourself. Afterall, if you work from home you may just need this beautiful set of Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headset that Mr.Gary is giving away.
As you will see from my entry below, no I don't have a big station. Actually if you notice the desk I'm using is one that a child would use in their own room, I do eventually plan on buying myself a REAL desk but it isn't anytime soon. The computer you see is a DELL/Compaq combo and no you can't buy it like that. My Dell motherboard (hope that's the name of it) blew up and then the replacement kept having problems so I bought the compaq one. I still have everything else as Dell, but I do need a new set of speakers, these ones have been dropped off the desk too many times by little kids. That's what happens though when you work around kids right? You must expect the unexpected, granted I don't see that as unexpected. So there you have it, this is my workstation and where I spend most of my days unless I'm hanging with the kids or sneaking to the t.v. room for a break.
This picture was taken yesterday and had been cleaned before the picture was taken. But I've got some tell tell signs of what I like: PEPSI in the corner and the Easter Egg in the front. The big green poster is hiding the pictures of my kids that I have on the wall.
Earth Day Week: Crafts for Kids
learning about recycling- Take them to the library and have them check out a few books on the subject, watch a movie and then write a little report on it. Or have them decide on a recycling project that they can do on Earth Day. This will give them something to do all week long and by the time Earth Day comes they'll be able to participate with something of their own and not just because MOM and DAD says.
Younger kids can learn about this by watching cartoons or by you explaining it. Maybe start them off slowly by having them help you toss out the garbage (as in seperate) and let them draw pictures to express themselves.
Gardening can be another fun project, whether it is for Earth day or just because. Have your child start drawing out what they'd like in their garden and learning a little about each thing they want. Draw pictures and start buying the materials needed.
Craft of The Day: Garden in a Bag (a link will be posted later)
What's your weather like where you are? Yesterday was so cold we had to wear jackets, ickkkk. Man, with all this bad weather I just wish I could go down to Florida. Granted I also have a girlfriend that lives down there and she's always telling me how gorgeous it is and now it's all nice and warm. ERRRR! Go away cold weather, I want Florida styled weather. Summer is coming and I'm already beginning to wonder what type of weather we'll have in store for us. Hmm, maybe I can convince the hubby to go on down there and rent one of those Orlando vacation home
Oh and before I forget I must also put on my list to find some new furniture. See, the couches I have in the living were a hand-me-down type of thing and we've had them since we got married. This means they are 10 years old, going on 11 this June. This past week BabyGirl was sick and it ended up on one of the couch cushions. I don't have a steam cleaner and I couldn't get the spot all out and did a no-no. See, I took off the material and tossed into the washer, took the cushion outside and soaked it with the hose trying to get everything out. I left it outside to dry and later that day (before it was dry) it rained. So, I left it out again and it rained. Needless to say the cushion is gone, so now I'll go hunting for some north carolina furniture unless I can figure out how to make a cushion.
Dogs on the Loose
Strike 1
A few days back her puppy which is about 3 months old now (big to a 3 year old), recently chased after BabyGirl. I explained to her if you don't run they won't come after you. I was wrong, it chased her anyways so now she's more scared.
Strike 2
Yesterday, the dog was placed on a small leash hooked into the ground and the owner left. But this didn't stop the dog from ending up in my backyard and chewing up everything. (on the base the houses don't come with fenced in yards and houses are close together)AKKK! I quickly remedied that problem, but then it went for my screen. ERRRR. That's when I got him to chase me back to his house, but she wasn't home. Instead I ended up with a dog for a couple hours. When they did get home they told me his color was broke and they didn't know what else to do.
Strike 3- You are OUT!
Today, the dog came back but this time BabyGirl was digging in the back yard when the dog JUMPED on her. She screamed and I ran out and saw him trying to play and jump on her. Poor thing was freaked out. I distracted the dog and she ran for daddy, grabbing the dog by the nape of the neck I took him home. (there was no collar) The owner told me the dog wanted out and she didn't have anything for him. I think she needs to head to the pet store and pick up a few dog supplies. What would you do?
A Surprise find at the Easter Egg Hunt!
With Easter knocking on our door, there's no surprise that everyone is out hunting for Easter eggs. There were over 400 children that showed up for my husband's squadrom Easter party when the Easter hunt was ready to begin. Plastic easter eggs filled the yard from one side to the other, each one baring some sort of gift. It would only be the ones shaped like some type of sports ball that the kids would really be interested in, myself I wanted the chocolate easter eggs. Hey, can ya blame me for wanting chocolate?
The children eagerly waited for the woman with the whistle, and as soon as she sounded off they ran. No one was safe from this mob, even I hid behind a tree as the kids ran by. Of course, while they were all hunting for their Easter treasures I found one of my own, neatly still in it's wrapper. But you wouldn't guess what it was.
Laying right there, in the middle of the yard (for all the kids to find) was a small, square that held something very protected in its wrapper. If a child would've found it and opened this little wrapper I'm sure they would've tried to blow it up like a balloon. That's right it was a condom! I'm not sure who left it, if it was left on purpose or decided to jump out of someone's wallet or pocket but someone was missing something very important to them. Thankfully none of these kids discovered the treasure to try to take home to their parents. Could you imagine their parents asking what all they found and them showing the small package with a big grin on their face? AKKK!
Review: Vonage Now has Forums
Vonage has two seperate categories, one is open topics while the other has about 10 different sections all about Vonage. There is even a section just for canadians and the UK. The best thing that I noticed about the forums is that there is an archive section for anything 90 days old, now if you can't find something it may be in there. On the right side of the page is a screen that shows the latest conversations and on the very bottom you can look at how the stock is doing.
All types of discussions can be found in these boards, from tweaking your vonage connections to the commercials on television. The site is easy to navigate, which is perfect for all users. If you are a Vonage member, you should check it out...there might be something useful you didn't know.
Woo Hoo I found my brother!!!
Yesterday I found my brother. He actually made two accounts there which I thought was cool at first but now I think I know why he did it. I decided I'd take a look at his pics and see any new ones I hadn't seen yet. Oh and there were some new ones. AKK, I need to wash my eyeballs out with soap!!!
That's right, my baby brother was without clothes. Okay, the worst part was almost all covered but it didn't leave much for the imagination. Ickkkk! I soooo didn't want to see my brother's bareness. I've learned a very valuable lesson though, if you have family that have myspace accounts be prepared to see stuff you wouldn't want to see. Man someone should warn family members about this. Back to washing eyeballs out.
Going to Mexico for Spring Break?
No trip should be ruined because someone rips you off because you don’t know how much insurance is. Get the insurance before you head for the border! After all they’ll see you coming a mile away.
Did you know that if you get into an accident in Mexico and don’t have Mexican Auto Insurance that they can keep you? Yep, however they’ll let you out once you pay the payment in cash.
The great thing about this website is there is an article section that’ll teach you everything you need to know about driving a car in Mexico. What happens if you get into an accident? They’ll teach you all about those that’ll try to snake you into a sale and how to choose the right insurance company.
Don’t forget to read the FAQ part of the website. Find out why you should get it, what is covered and what type of policy you should get. Read the testimonials about Mexican Auto Insurance.
Have a safe and fun trip this holiday season!
I'm Not Sleeping With Him Anymore!
Who here has a snorer? Anyone? Oh, come on you can't tell me that your spouse doesn't snore. Not even a little? Yeah, that's what I thought.
Well, I've known my man snores and its normally not an issue but as the pregnancy wore on I didn't really deal with it. How? Well, he got a second job, which meant our schedules didn't really collide much. I know, I know that's never a good thing. But I slept and I slept a LOT! Imagine my surprise after I've had Little A and get home from the hospital to find my SNORING husband. ACKKK!
Many of you will probably say to get those things that look like band-aid strips that go over the nose. Tried it, they didn't work. Okay, the snore spray...nope. So, what can a woman do when she can no longer sleep in the same bed as her husband? Any advice besides beating him with a stick every time he snores?
Win $1K!!!
Wow, have you heard the latest going on over at Payperpost? What not sure what that is? Okay, just really quick as I don’t want to miss out on this opportunity. See, on occasion I post sponsored ads on this blog, which help in buying diapers/strollers/milk, etc. Anyways, they’ve decided to spice things up a bit over at PPP.
There has been this top blogger (Colleen) since July of 06 and no one has been able to beat her, Payperpost would like to see someone do it. So far she’s made close to $9,000 off this company, which shows that blogging does pay off especially when you get paid to write up little ads.
Tuesday between 0001 and 2359 (which is 12:01 a.m.- 11:59 p.m.) Payperpost is going to drop an ad worth 1K. That’s right 1K! Which means all bloggers will be on this site ALL day long until someone posts. This isn’t just a one day thing either, Payperpost is planning on doing this EVERY Tuesday!
What a great way to do a bit of blog advertising, and of course we are all going to participate. What person wouldn’t take part in this…it’s $1000?! So are you game? Will you be joining me today watching Technorati to see if any new posts come up, checking out the PPP blog, searching to see if you can find that ONE ad.
A new DIGG site for Parents!
During that time I decided to try out digg and see what it was all about. It was a posted on the yellow wiggle, I thought parents this young kids would really be interested...the problem was there wasn't much of a category for parents or moms.
Do you find yourself looking for a place that'll bring the parenting news to you? Well, another mom/dad felt like this and they decided to create Babblz. Babblz is just starting out and currently they are running a contest. For every 75 members that join, post about the opening and submit that post to the site will be entered.
Here is the prize:
How Much have I Earned from PPP?
I can’t do all the ads they have at Payperpost even if I wanted to. The rules have changed since I first joined, heck back then you could post as many as you wanted, then they got wise on us and limited it to only 3 a day and now it is only one a day. This works for me since one is all you really need a day anyways, otherwise it just looks like a blog full of advertisements and nothing else. Later, they ended up having people make videos which left me out since I don’t have the proper things … like a mic or a camera and those jobs made LOTS of money.
So the question is…How much money have you made doing the blog advertising with Payperpost? I’ve made $213.60 which helped with bills and Christmas items. I’m starting over again and will be saving up for everything baby, ie crib, stroller, the carrier/backpack thing (not sure yet), and DIAPERS.
To prove that some can make money off Payperpost, check out Colleen , she’s made close to $9K.
Deadlines and Kids at Home...
For those that had kids home today, how did things go? Were you able to get your work done and spend time with them? Was their crying, fighting, etc? As I floated through the blogosphere I did notice that some of my favorite reads hadn't been updated...maybe their kids were home today too. Hmmm, is this what will happen to me?
The strange thing about this is that two years ago I actually homeschooled my kids, which meant they were home the whole time I was beginning my writing career. (well the paid part of it) However, I think I got use to them not being home and was able to do a bit more work, after all BabyGirl is one of those don't bother me types so she's very easygoing.
I never could understand how those public school moms could complain about their kids being home during springbreak. I would hear things like: What am I going to do with them? What about my job? Does anyone know a sitter that is willing to watch my two kids? Can you watch my kids, after all you are home all day anyways? etc Today, I know what they meant. While I am very excited about them coming home I must wonder if I'll get my deadlines met.
Over the weekend I got to deal with this a bit, normally I don't have deadlines looming over the weekend. This weekend though I did, I ended up getting it done but not before going bald. My goodness they just wouldn't stop fighting with each other.
So my question to you is....Do you have any advice for this WAHM?
P.S. This week I'm a guest blogger over at Work at Home Blog and Oh Baby Baby, don't forget to stop by. Today's topic was Working With Kids at Home and Packing Up the Kids.
Baby Sling Recall: Infantino Baby Carrier
Are you a mom to a brand new baby? Or maybe a grandma? Apparently the little plastic part on these (Infantino baby sling carriers) can come apart and release the baby without notice. Ackk! What a thought right? Well now they are recalling them, they've had 10 reports of it breaking and 8 of the baby falling out. Send those Infantino slings back for a new replacement and all should be fine.
It appears my question has now been answered. A few weeks back I asked which I should use a backpack carrier for my newborn or a baby sling. I think I'm leaning more towards the backpack at this point. But I still have this longing for a sling.
